Promaster Wall & Ceiling Framing | Van Life Build

Promaster Wall & Ceiling Framing | Van Life Build
** UPDATE ** We uninstalled our ceiling framing to reinstall it with a thin (2mm) strip of rubber acting as a barrier between the wood strut and the metal ceiling. We cut the rubber pieces to match the size of our wood struts. This WORKED WONDERS for the noise in the van and the van is SOOO much quieter since doing this. Highly recommend. Note: We used leftover rubber that was in the van when we purchased it.

    @bigbunny615765 By using blue tape (painters tape), you can create a template for drilling into wood. You line up the tape in your van over the holes you want to line up on the wood. Tape directly over the hole. Then kinda press the tape until you find the holes and use a nail or pencil to poke thru the tape. Then carefully peel the tape off and then tape it straight onto the wood you want to mount in your van. Where you poked the holes in the tape, you drill. My van was impossible to measure the holes because they were all off set. You can probably find a KZread video if you search "using painters tape for template"

    We actually already had it. The woman we bought the van from left it in the van, however I believe it's just rubber matted flooring used for gyms, basements, workshops, etc. It's basically the same thing as a yoga mat. I would just get a cheap yoga mat and cut away!

    What size riv nut did you use? Thanks

  • @darian.explores

    @darian.explores

    3 жыл бұрын

    We needed different sizes depending on what area of the van they were in. The ceiling ones are 1/4”, the walls in the front half of the van and all the lowest points throughout the van had smaller holes already so those are also 1/4”, THEN the ones on the back half walls (that aren’t the low ones by the floor) are M8. Really, you can make them whatever size you want. Just need the step bit. You’ll need that tool for the back half ones because the holes in the van are hex, not circle. Unless you get ahold of hex rivet nuts. Hope that helps. Let us know if you have more questions!
