Prom Dress to Bridgerton Regency Gown! Only 25$ Easy Transformation with minimal sewing required!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This dress came out so well!! I can't believe it only cost me 25$ for the dress, and materials. It didn't require too much sewing and I think it would be easy to create. You guys can totally find a similar dress on eBay if you search empire waist! Will you use this method to create an easy regency dress?

I have the same exact project, and coincidentally, for the upcoming Netflix Bridgerton Queen's Ball here in LA at the March-April! I found a dress at a vintage shop designed exactly as yours with the spaghetti straps and was also too small in the hips. Found different ideas in the last couple of weeks and found your tutorial today, just as I'm getting started on the project. You are a lifesaver, and I would say this was serendipitous!!

It also looks Edwardian, as well. Rose could have worn this in Titanic with other accessories. And, it could have been worn in the late 60s/early 70s. Fashion really cycles.

Wow. It's *wild* how simply adding puff sleeves and accessorizing right turned this from a 2000's prom dress to the perfect Bridgerton-take-on-Regency gown! This blew my mind. I think it helps that you found a fantastic, perfectly embellished prom dress!

I'm so happy impressed with your dressmaking hacks! Your gown is gorgeous! One note: Your pronunciation of 'empire' waist is off a bit. It sounds like you are saying 'umpire'. If you are trying to pronounce it in French, it sounds like 'AHM peer' with the first syllable slightly heavier. Otherwise it's acceptable to pronounce it like Empire State Building. I am a costumer and am not as good at hack costuming as I'd like...glad I found your channel!

this is really creative! probably a stupid question, but how did you first start sewing, and how skilled would one need to be to dk this? I’ve never sewed in my life before with a machine and the last time I hand sewed was when I was a kid. now I am going to the Bridgerton ball and would love to dress up to the theme but don’t want to buy a costume because they’re all too expensive for one time wear or affordable but terrible quality and fit. if you have any tips, that would be much appreciated!

I agree with you I don’t like polyester either but we can’t ignore the fact that there is a huge gatekeeping problem in costuming. Not mention tons of wasted polyester we could save from landfills. I try to save these fabrics from landfills and make something of them. A lot of people can’t afford silks, they should be able to enjoy costuming too without being shamed
