Project YZ-E | YZ250 Electric Dirt Bike QS138 AMORGE 72V Battery Conversion Part 7

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Got the new 72 Volt 40AH Lithium battery installed! Had to fabricate a battery tray to secure it to the frame. Installed the Electro & Co QS138 V3 EMX 25kW Kit with the EM-260 Controller on the 2006 Yamaha YZ250. Bike is pretty much finished with the exception of the battery at this point. I do a lot of Razor mini electric dirt bike builds, so why not build something similar but at a MUCH LARGER scale this time?

Is this battery still holding up fine? And can it handle water getting on it without issues?

Hey man love the build and it looks sweet but you should really put some sheets on the sides of that battery box just incase you crash, wouldn't want a battery puncture because that would be a lot of money gone, just a little thought, that's my concern on all electric vehicles, can't wait to see you riding it!

It’s still mostly gonna be covered by the tank and the side fairings, but I’ll look into adding more protection!

@@PatOutdoors I think they meant in the battery tray you made. That's what I was thinking! Good fab!

Yeah that's what I was thinking the tank and fairings would protect it but if you land on like a stick that slides into it or something, I dunno, anything can happen trail riding but yeah just a plate over the sides of the tray would do but whatever you decide to do man it's your build in the end!

i have an important question. can you tell me how much height is between the top of the motor and the top of the frame on the inside? i am trying to figure out if i can fit a 11-13" tall battery vertically like in a surron

I have no idea about the electrical side. I looked up wire locally and like 2/0 and 3/0 were good for 225-250 amps. It was solid copper. Is this just special wire, or is there something I'm missing? I want to run max say, 350amp cont and 450-500 amp peak (Like whatever the Electro and Co, Trumoto, Zapper controller handles.) What gauge wire do I run to from the battery to controller, and then controller to motor? Thanks!

Well the QS motor (orange) phase wires come already connected and bolt directly to the controller, I believe those are 6 gauge each. Between 2-6 gauge for the battery power supply wires to controller

Much appreciated sir 🫡 It's a struggle finding "long-term use" reviews on these "cheaper" batteries.

Will you get electrocuted if you touch both poles of your dirt bike battery

Not sure.. can't think of anybody who would do that. The connections are not exposed (water proof sealed connector.) Would you get electrocuted if you touch both polls on your car battery? I imagine it's the same thing.
