Project YZ-E First Trail Ride E&C EMX QS138 Powered Yamaha YZ250 Electric Dirt Bike

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Installed Electro & Co's EMX 25kW QS138 Kit on my 2006 Yamaha YZ250. Finally got a chance to take it out for some trail testing. This thing is certainly quick, but more importantly.. easy for my wife to ride! I do a lot of Razor mini electric dirt bike builds, so why not build something similar but at a MUCH LARGER scale this time?

One of the most in depth electric dirt bike conversions on youtube! I want to get into the same sort of thing, started with 52v 1000w ebike upgraded to a 72v 3000w ebike and im looking at building a 72v 5000w full sus enduro mtb conversion before i get into doing electric dirtbike conversions like you! Youve inspired me more than i already was you deserved the subscribe

Thanks! I have (4) electric bikes in my garage for a reason... Started with a 36V 650W razor that's now 72V putting out almost 4000W and just doing another project and another.. lol

You gotta go with a thumb throttle brother. All of my electric builds have thumb throttles for that exact reason. When you go over bumpy terrain with a twist throttle, it’s a matter of time before you loop out. Stay safe and have fun out there! ✌️

Right.. I already received a thumb throttle for my 72V Razor to test out how I like it. I'll switch it on this bike eventually if I end up getting comfortable with it

She looks like she rides great! How many miles would you say you did and how much longer would you have felt comfortable riding before you had to recharge? I ended up getting the same battery for my rmz 250 and had to mod the frame just a bit to get it to fit. Used your battery tray template as well. Thanks for all the content. Because of you and a good buddy of mine i should be ready to ride in a week. Cheers.

We rode for 15 miles on this day. I probably would have gone another 3-5 but with less power. This trail had a lot of climbs though. Could probably do over 30-35 miles cruising flat pavement

Good content just one question what springs do you have in the back of your Pathfinder I'm looking at the Black widow motorcycle Hitch mount how do you like it is it noisy does it rattle and does your truck bottom out or did you get Land Rover springs? I like your setup I want to do a 3 inch lift of roof tent 31's and the motorcycle hitch for my small scrambler

Thanks! They're actually modified 5th Gen 4Runner Springs (rear) with KYB Struts on 31's.. (Just a temporary solution for a 1.5" Rear lift and higher spring rate.) I'm likely doing Land Rover 9448/9449 Springs on the back, OME springs for the front, and Bilstein's all around in the near future. I'll have more details on my other KZread channel. As far as the Black Widow hitch, I'm super happy with it once I figured out how to tension the anti-rattle plate against the hitch. I also started keeping the ramp in my car instead of mounted on the carrier (to reduce vibrations.)

What year yz did you use and, if you don’t mind sharing the info, roughly how much did everything cost do the conversion? (price of bike excluded) Awesome video!! Be wicked if you could just convert to the motor & still keep the clutch & gearbox. That way you could use the clutch & gearing for control instead of relying solely on throttle control Edit: one last question; is this a yz specific kit or could it be fitted to any dirtbike? Thanks

This is a universal dirt bike kit by electro & co. I used a 2006 Yamaha yz250 though. I spent about $3K on parts including the battery. Keeping the gearbox I suppose could be an option, though it would take a lot of fabrication..

Maybe try a thumb throttle. I did that to my yz80 i converted with the 138 v3 with the em150/2 controller

@@PatOutdoors yes and also remember, you can always grab it just like the clutch, in case of looping out the throttle. Also frees up your feet completely, safer for messing up difficult climbs. Also get some handguards, before some bushes pull your brakes
