Ойын-сауық

PROJECT SLAVE 1 ‘THE FULL BUILD’
Watch the full build of my ‘studio scale’ model of Boba Fett’s ‘Slave 1’. This is the culmination of 18 months work 3d printing and re-designing the Gambody Slave 1 to match as closely as possible the original model from ‘The Empire Strikes Back’. I hope you enjoy following the build series and subscribe to my channel. Thanks for watching.
Thanks go out to Steve, Kevin, Barrie and John S for their help on this hugely enjoyable build, thanks guys.

    Thanks Sergio, glad you like my Slave 1. LEDs would have been a great option had I planned for them early in the build but I had way to much to consider with the re-designing to allow for them. There will be plenty of opportunity for them in version 2.0 which is coming soon. 😁

    My gosh, your design, engineering, fabrication and painting skills are incredible. That is truly one of the most detailed, accurate and "functional" (cockpit rotation) creations I have ever seen. That is a camera ready model, worthy of movie, game or any application. It's almost too amazing to be simply display. I came here after watching your Aliens APC design, and will be watching your others to be sure. Thank you for sharing this incredible creation.

    Definitely worth all 45:56 minutes. Turned the basic 3D prints into a masterpiece. I checked good photos of the original and the quality of the paint finish and weathering of your model is definitely much better. Of course as a movie miniature, that model was perfect as it was, and yours is going to be seen from up close, so benefits from the extra care in the finish.

    Thank you for the great comment. Slave 1 certainly has been a labour of love. The Mk II version I am currently working on is almost ready for paint. It features a more accurate hull shape, is much closer to the studio model and better captures the character of Slave 1. New video out very soon. 🙂

    Amazing build, and a well made video, too. I guess that was a duplicate canopy in place during painting? I don't know of any differences, but were you using a model of a real Porsche as opposed to a model of the donor styrene kit of it?

  • @StaplesandVine

    @StaplesandVine

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks TreadwellJay, glad you liked my version of Slave1. Yes that was just a spare canopy I used tomask the cockpit during spraying. I had kept the best vac form back for the finished model. I used plans of the original Porsche RSR to design my parts in CAD for the underside. There was still a bit of tweaking but the result came out really well. No vintage kits were harmed in the making of Slave 1. 🙂

    Beautiful work! I have one question while watching, can all these more accurate additions/changes be done/added after the fact of printing the original stls? are you using all the original parts and then making changes on top, or are some of the "original" stls left out? I hope i managed to explaing myself :) Many thanks for sharing your work. Regards/Ed

  • @StaplesandVine

    @StaplesandVine

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Eddie X, glad you like my build. The simple answer is YES. Basically the original Gambody stls were printed in black ABS and ultimately ALL the detail was removed and re-designed. All of the detail parts were attached to the original with superglue. The cockpit is all new as are the wings and all of the underside parts. Just the very basic shape remained. I am currently designing a full set of new files for an all new Slave 1 which will be out soon. Sera

    @@StaplesandVine Oh, I was planning to print this model and see how much i manage to "update" as my first project, since I do see how much work it is I didnt want to set my expectations to high. but at the same time i didn't want to bother printing something that needed "extreme" work to make somehow accurate. I guess the answer is that the model is "ok" to build on? But sky is the limit right :) Ill be on the outlook for your version. Thanks for your answer. Cheers
