Project Review: LOCK slides until learners VIEW ALL CONTENT in Articulate Storyline 360

In this project review, we'll tackle one of the most asked questions in Storyline 360: “How do I restrict navigation until one or more modules are viewed?” View the original discussion and download the project file: community.articulate.com/disc...
Outline:
00:00 - Overview of the project we're reviewing and fixing
04:09 - Set the initial state of the finish button to hidden
05:49 - Create true/false variables to track completion of each module
07:56 - PRO TIP (You probably didn't know this was possible)
08:00 - Create a custom state "Completed" for each menu button
11:24 - Adjust the variables from false to true when the learner completes each module
13:50 - Add variable references to display the variable's data and verify things are working correctly
16:11 - Test the project
17:16 - Change the states of each menu button from normal to complete

Awesome presentation David! I was able to successfully get the variables and triggers to do exactly what I needed for my course. I also learned a lot. Thanks so much!

Our team played with a slide set like this for weeks trying to get the next button to show after all the visits. This would have made it much easier. Great content.

I'm obsessed w/ naming timeline objects. It's the first thing I'll do when users send me their files for review. Sure it takes extra time, but it makes troubleshooting much easier. Thanks for watching, @SafetyCynthia!

Thanks a lot for this example. It is great to see, how easy it could be. I am following your explanations a long time and enjoy all the ideas and your speed to come to a result. Your are using a MAC to work with Storyline and everything seems to run realy fast there. Some colleagues are having trouble when creating new triggers on a MAC. It takes a much longer time compared to your presentation here. Is there a special trick, hint or setting that might speed up the work with triggers on a MAC computer? Are you using parallels and which version? My colleagues are using the latest storyline version. I know that update from June 20th 2023 (Build 3.77.30568.0) should have speed it up, but it is not as fast as in your presentation. I am extremly curious about your answer.

Sorry I missed your question! Yes, I"m running Storyline 360 on my MacBook Pro. When I made this video 4 months ago, I was on my 2019 Intel-based MBP. I've since upgraded to the current MBP with the M3 chips and running the 64-bit beta of Storyline 360. Performance in Storyline is about the same in both machines so I would not recommend upgrading Intel Macs for Storyline. I mostly upgraded because I wanted more hard drive space.

When was the last time you tried Storyline on your Mac? In June 2023 we updated Storyline's trigger panels to run much faster on Macs. I don't own a Windows machine and build my demos and webinars using Storyline on a M1 (now M3) chips.
