The story of the director is touching. Adds an emotional edge to the story. Also, the banter with Pablo will always be funny.

The fact the Blender Animation Studios Team knows each other's skills, makes them integrate any workflow for movie production like it was a walk in the park. Challenges (as you may see in all these production logs) really come down to "how flexible" Blender is to swipe into this or that direction with such speed. Y'all gotta acknowledge that.
Pablo not knowing about snapping makes me feel that I have a chance 🤣
“Find the Andy in your life.” Epic. I’ll have this printed. Your humility is inspiring, Pablo.
This is my new favorite series on KZread :D

Hah Andy explaining snapping to Pablo made my day

but ... was this genuine instruction, or was there any element of irony in there? I find it very hard to believe that somebody like Pablo didn't know about snapping - it's perhaps because it's so long since he's ever used it, preferring instead to use his own special difficult and complicated method.

@@richardconway6425 sure, they were obviously joking around. But I don't think animators often use basic modeling tools. And I think it happened to everybody that sometimes you forget something obvious. I don't think it looks unprofessional in any way, more like human and relatable even if he did forget.

well...i really didn't know about that particular way to use the snapping.... I'm always learning new blender stuff .... but my method of suffering is way better 😁@@richardconway6425
The boat and main character are beautiful and compelling.
It's so fascinating seeing an artist using the same tools as you do to create. 😮 Ive used Cell Fracture before so really interesting to see it in an animation
damn they went hard on the shading brush strokes and fracture rig is insane, this film is going to look amazing

I feel the soundtrack will be very important in this shortfilm, i'm very curious about how will it sound
Simon is an absolute god. That fracture system is crazy
With web development, I've learnt much the same way..... do it the hard way for a while, then find a website or person to show me the easy way and I never ever forget it too. Nice to know someone else learns the same way that I do. :) Also I didn't know that Snapping trick either.....thanks for showing :)
12:20 That whole end sequence was too damm relatable... 😭🤌Wise words, wise words indeed. 😄👌
great documentary, loved how the documentary filmmaker tied that small story of asking for help in the end. Blender has been doing a banging job with really giving us the human centered POV with the day to day operations. LOve it.
I love that we as artist and designers learn something new no matter our experience or expertise. That's why asking questions is so helpful!
Thanks for the update! The oil painting texture looks amazing, I'm looking forward to the film and learning more about Blender!

Huh, I saw some benchmark on blender where Linux was almost always a bit faster, and seeing how many of you use linux I guess it makes sense, awesome what fully open source software can do!
Have you considered making an art-of book? I feel like this one would be fantastic for that, the concepts and approach to it all is really particularly beautiful.

Totally agree. The subject matter is so perfect for that. It would be beautiful, limited run, and unfortunately, probably very expensive.
Very cool. I can already feel the results 😍

"Find your Andy in your life and ask questions" all my life i've been the Andy, i got no Andy to ask!
Ha, that's hilarious. The joys of collaboration, hey?

excellent work congratulations! I really like Blender's sculpture mode, but I think it needs to be improved, its mesh still behaves in a strange way, and users with non-powerful machines are unable to create realistic work because as we increase the resolution of the mesh it becomes extremely heavy. It would be really cool if Blender Foundation paid more attention to this part of the sculpting mode.
