    You guys should do a video just on the basics. How you figure out the angles to notch the tubes and techniques for welding different joints (c's whipping, stepping, etc) Would really appreciate it! Looking for an easier way to get the correct angle notch

    Is there any concern of those strut box supports filling with water? Seems you put holes on the sides and then fully boxed it in and didn't leave any way for water to drain out.

    As an engineer I have to point out that a good portion of your shock compression loads in each tower are be reacted by one bolt head in the base.

    i was going to ask about the structural integrity of sandwiching a sheet metal bed in between shock mounts, which should go directly to the frame. involving the bed sheet metal in compression and rebound seems like a questionable idea.

    Are there any drainage holes for the uprights on the bedcage? I know in the desert we do not get much rain, but the dimples seem like they would let water in and it is boxed. Seems to me like you may be filling up the uprights with water, at the car wash atleast.

  • @dirtlifemagazine
    @dirtlifemagazine11 жыл бұрын

    Yes it didn't make it into the show because of time constraints but there are drain holes. After filming in the desert and the 3 hours it took to get it clean yes water does go into the flared holes and out the bottom.

    Can you guys please tell me what 3link and 4 link is or what does it do.

  • @dirtlifemagazine
    @dirtlifemagazine11 жыл бұрын

    These are types of rear suspension. A 4 link uses 4 bars or links to locate the rear axle. You will also need a track bar to control lateral movement of the axle. A 3 link uses the same lower links as a 4 link but uses a wishbone shaped upper link. This also controls lateral or side movement of the axle. There is so much more to this but I only get 500 characters...lol

    You guys said you went with bypasses because you can use the "valves" to tune it over conventional shocks. People will probably think that means to tune it you can only use a bypass instead of a smooth body. Poor choice of wording probably. Also, with building a bedcage for at least newer people. Wouldnt it be better to actually show you cycling the shock to make sure you're actually using the shock peoperly especially for a bypass and also checking for clearances everywhere?

    Yes you can tune a smooth body shock but only by re-valving it, and that is a little beyond what we could do in the show.
