Project 827 Part 3 - Brake Stuff - Forgotten 19k mile Rover 800

#Rover800 #ProjectCar #Barnfind #carandclassic
Our project Rover 827 that we found in a bush progresses even more, with all new brakes and suspension going back on. Will it make it to the NEC Classic Car Show in November? It's looking good, that's for sure. But there is light at the end of the tunnel and shiny parts are going back on. Not bad for a car we found in a bush.

Just to echo the comments here - this is a really enjoyable series. Likeable genuine characters and just the right amount of detail. Please do more of these!
"I'm chasing perfection on a car worth nine pence." Fair play, that genuinely got a laugh out of me! Love your presenting style and gentle sense of humour... perfect viewing after a stressful day at work. Keep up the good work!
Loving this series. No drama, no cliff hangers and no BS. Two enthusiastic blokes that are a joy to watch, so please keep going. Looking forward to Part 4.
This series is perfect, sat here with an open fire and a beer, with the rain smashing against the window, can't wait for the next one!
Watching this is a like a warm cup of tea in front of a fire with chocolate biscuits on a cold winters evening overlooking English countryside as snow gently falls.
Am I the only one who has noticed the genius of this title? Durst would be proud. Lovely update Chris keep them coming.
Lovely video Chris, feels like spending an afternoon in the garage with a couple of old friends. These just get better and better. Good luck with the headlining!
Good to see you kept on raffles the gentleman mechanic 👍
I'd watch Reuben making a cuppa. Love his commentary and mannerisms 🤣
More art than repair. Or, the art of repair. Thank you...
Absolutely love this series so far , it’s perfectly edited and includes very good information. Keep Reuben in the videos he’s brilliant. Keep up the good work looking forward to seeing this at the nec and of course the next episode!
Lovely stuff! Really enjoy the banter between the two of you as well. the detail from the camera man is also excellent! More of the same please.
Best youtube channel out there.. you need a TV show you'd make it big time.
Love the banter lads , there's a 827 vitesse in that lovely metallic wine red looks in nice condition tyres are flat mind , still looks a fresh lovely car , lots of love guys 😍

Most kind of you Neil thanks.
It is very encouraging to see that you & your team have been able to resurrect another Rover, from being abandoned in a hedge to being back on the road again, keeping it as a pristine & driveable tribute to the 100-year old storied & stormy history of the marque, instead of it being consigned to a very sad & an ignominious end in a scrapyard, being parted out as spares before being crushed & recycled and lost to the sands of time forever.
This is addictive watching, love it. Thank you all for going to the efforts on presentation, filming, and editing.
I had the same car with the same misfire problem which would clear up once warmed, it was found to be the valve stem. because of the amount of clearance built into them they would build a nearly undetectable step were it enters the guide, a deposit of lacquer from the fuel was the probable source. Thrashed it a bit and it never gave the problem again.
Amazing stuff as always. Love the LACK of music and unnecessary noise.
Great work as ever Chris. No one has done more to tempt me into a Rover 800 than you.
great stuff ! its like watching gone fishing without the river or the fish or the scenery and with rovers
Super enjoyable series! Can watch this stuff all day.
Utterly brilliant. Like popping into the garage with your Dad to work on the car. Thanks - filming - perfect, content perfect. Italian tune up needed before any more misfire diagnosis....
I'll admit to being crazy enough to be a Rover fan, too. If I had the spare cash to bid on that 827 when it's finished, I would. Unlike many other people, I would drive it on a regular basis, because if you're not going to drive a car, you shouldn't buy it. Leave it for someone who will enjoy it, and I did enjoy my 827 Vitesse while I had it. I found a 36,000 mile, pre-facelift, Cowley-built 75. I drive that every weekend.
Great episode and looking forward to the next escapade with the 9p Rover
The Rover 827 was a great design and it's rarity today will undoubtedly help increase its value in the years to follow. But to a true car enthusiast it's not all about the value of a car. Great video.
Great video, Chris effortless banter and a great project
Loving this channel and the revival of this beauty. Ive recently bought myself a little project a 98 Saab 9000 2ltr Turbo anniversary genuine 35k 2 owner car as a tribute to my late dad who worked for a local Saab dealership for many years. Keep up the fantastic work guys 👍👌
Cracking timing, makes cuppa, settles in. Lovely stuff.
Great episode again! You've got a real pleasant way of presenting Chris! Really enjoyable to watch.
Such an enjoyable video. Brilliantly edited. You two have great chemistry.
Really loving these videos, captures those afternoons spent in the Garage with your mates. Keep up the good work Gents!
Me seeing this in my feed: "Over 25 minutes, how can this possibly hold my attention?" Me what feels like five minutes later: wait, it's over already? I want more! You know Reuben is really fucked off with a car when he describes an intractable mechanical problem as "mildly annoying" or "a minor inconvenience".
Mother in law had one years ago. When the car died it was sold spares or repair. Couple of months later the police turned up - it had been used as a getaway car for a post office raid.
Great work guys, cant beat fully refurbished running gear, looks great under the arches 👍look forward to the next one, good luck with the missfire 🍀🤞
Love the content and the understated “Britishness”. Looking forward to ep4.
It's like an episode of the 80's Hartbeat with Tony Hart but with a car! Love it...Great chemistry and banter between the two of you.
I used one of these cars in Germany when I was working out there. That had a great V6 Honda, williams, Renault engine, it was fabulous but very thirsty and I hammered that car for thousands of autobahn miles galloping all over Germany. I left it with some mates out there and they drove it back to the UK where the gearbox immediately went, God knows what happened to it but I reckon it probably got scrapped back then.
Coming together real nice can’t wait to see it running and driving 👍👍👍
Absolutely fantastic series, really love Chris’s style. Looking forward to seeing at the nec.
Loving this little series on the Rover-Dose. Keeps me vey entertained. The banter that you guys have is brilliant & you work so well together. Looking forward to the next video already and hopefully see the engine run a bit more.
Wonderful stuff from the Mike and Bernie Winters of automotive restoration.
Awesome, really good to see this coming together👍
loving this series! I feel so inspired to go and find a project of my own and to smother it in copper grease!
Always good to see another update on Kate. That misfire is a bit of a nuisance, be interesting to see what that ends up being.
Excellent work as always 😁😎
I'd absolutely love to be the next owner, of this car but just not feasible with storage and maintenance 👍
I'm not a fan of Rovers but this is the best looking Rover in my opinion. Very 80s and a very smart looking car. Look forward to the next episode but do wish you did more to progress this along in between episodes.
Really great series 😊 you two are a bloody good pairing! More please sir!
Nice work Gents! Love this project.
Loving this channel, however as a perfectionist I would recommend a dab of grease on the disc screws too, as these are prone to seizing in.
I’ve really got into this series Really well put together Cheers
Great work. Love a new brake disc.
As always another great episode. Lots of detail and explanation which you don’t always get on other car content shows. You are both great presenters and I love watching the progress on the Rover. Lots more episodes please 👍👍👍👍
Excellent stuff guys FYI I find that Pepsi max and a good egg sandwich tends to get the pipe work cleared aswel
Was that the Thunderbirds theme I heard being hummed, in addition to the Captain Scarlett theme?
Well done lads 👍
So well filmed it's leagues ahead, great channel.
Lovely stuff gents!!!
Looking forward to seeing how much she goes for. Will make a great daily driver once again ❤
Great stuff. I used to own a Mitsubishi 3000gt and sometimes found it far cheaper to buy stuff from Rock Auto in the US as well, even with the shipping and import duties.
Love these videos. Great cars, great humour.
There’s a surprising amount of brake fluid being drunk in this episode.
sensible chuckles
Awesome and funny at the same time..
Excellent progress Chris 👍
Excellent. I was looking forward to this
Vard loves a bit of copper grease also :P
Brilliant as always.
I degrease the rusty nuts bots n fixings, then soak in Evaporust for 24/48 hours; then I coat in XCP or other rust prevention, before they go back on. A Cheap.n effective was to clean up the hardware, to match the newly painted stuff; sorted. Ps,.I had a first gen 827 SLI back in 1998, was decent but did like a drink!
.its part of Britain's heritage...its banter .... its great 👍
Be good to see it at the NEC in November - planning on coming up
Absolutely love your channel Chris Pollitt. I have a real soft spot for these rovers and your channel just keeps me glued to the screen, can't wait to see this car in the flesh, great mate mate keep it up 👍🇬🇧
Loving your work and the detail you go to. I just love there's people like me out there that want to keep the classics going. Also I did notice in your video the 205 GTi in the background. Do love a good pug GTi, rebuilt several in my time, what are you doing with that one?
Such a relaxing series to watch c:
Love this series ❤️
pollitt percussive persuasion 😂
HAD TO PAUSE. cuppa T your show , here we go HUGE THANX :-)
Another glorious waste of half an hour. As another commenter sais like a dryer "gone fishing'" :) Ace stuff Chris.
Looking good. A little cry (lol) is good for the soul! Awesome!!!
Love the banter!!!!!
Great series!
Loving these wee videos
You chaps!
You two make me chuckle excellent
............. perfect evenings entertainment !
Good work Mr P.
Wonderful vid once again ... keep it it Chris ... Keet
Throughly entertaining video .
It's become very clear that you both watched Thunderbirds or Stingray when young.
executive car of the day that. the pm used to get took around in it, check the reg.
Giving this the thumbs up 👍🏻 before I’ve even watched it 👏🏻
Rock auto is quality, just shows how much ppl take the piss with parts prices over here
Hopefully your putting on some Sterling cross spoke alloys? Dad had an 89 Sterling Stone grey over anthracite duo tone. G888 DVP
Get a big fan for the workshop
Does this have the same engine as Jonny Smith was going to use in his Allagro project, he had an engine fully rebuilt and now has no use for it, perhaps this would be a good home for it?
I believe I heard it skip past a cylinder when you were cranking the engine, we used that as a poor man's compression test when buying a car in the field, is there a compression test upcoming?
20:34 was that fart edited in or was that just Reuben's gut vindicating the point he was just making?!
I'd drive it every day
Very well done but no need to go copper slip happy on the back of pads that have no contact with anything, it's just going to have all of the crud of the day stick to it like excrement to a blanket.
Could you please put a link for the inspection lamp 👌👌
