Project 074 | Making propane blacksmith forge

Ғылым және технология

We came up with the idea to make a necessary tool used by blacksmiths and this is an oven that heats the metal placed in it in order to be bendable and easy to be shaped by the blacksmith

    Well thanks a lot. I have a really nice forge that I also built myself but your making me want to build a new one. By the way, you don't need flux(borax) unless you are forge welding. It keeps the metal from oxidizing so it will weld together. No need to use it when your just forging something into shape.

    This is a project that's been on my mind a great deal lately. My fascination with learning modern welding techniques naturally led to an interest in forge welding in particular, and blacksmithing in general. Making cool things is great, but making tools that you can make cool things with, is another skill set altogether. Anybody can go buy tools and materials, and many can learn to use them, and turn out some worthwhile work... but making your own tools of scrap and repurposed items, that takes even more skill and creativity. I love watching your builds, and your video and sound production values are top shelf! Keep doing what you're doing... and don't feed the trolls!

    Sick! Hands down THE BEST, for now, hand~made gas forge! That’s big enough to forge a d&mn 2019 Mini Cooper Type S Turbo!!! Very nice “EXTREMELY” well built forge!! Straight talent!

    The volume seems to be too big for hand forging. Alec steels forge is way smaller and is more effective. Attaching the plate that controls the air inflow onto the gas pipe is cool!

    Love your work and your projects. Another thing I'd like to see you build: A heavy duty vertical boring / drilling / tapping mill with instant reverse. An X-Y table would be nice but not totally necessary. I drill and tap a lot of 1''-8 by 1-1/2'' deep through-holes, and to be able to power tap would be so handy. An R-8 receiver hole in the quill would be a nice touch, because then I could use my R-8 collet set.

    always enjoy watching you make great stuff but you should never use galvanised parts for a burner. the fumes are very toxic . Apart from that, it's an awesome forge 👍

  • @Terahspidgeon

    @Terahspidgeon

    Agree.. made some burners from galvanised pipe just like that one.. the ends turn into a nasty white and the smell that comes off 'm will not only give you a proper weird feeling, it'll stick with you... three days later your nose will still be 'sniff, sniff.. why am I still smelling this odd bad egg like odour'. Anyhoos, those fumes may well give you a nice case of metal fume fever for sure ^^.
