Program Used HONDA ECM / ECU With Autel

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A shorted fuel injector took out the injector driver circuit inside this PCM. It's time for the replacement and programming. The Autel scan tool gets this handled without any extra software. Enjoy!

    I agree, not your traditional software programming as required by a lot of manufactures. Good point that we did not mention, it is always good to look for any relevant updates to the controller after installation. I was glad a used controller could actually be used, with all the one time use modules out there, unless you do cloning or EEPROM work. Thanks for watching! Ryan Wilsing. Technical Instructor

    Hey Jason, One thing I would be careful of, is if the aftermarket gas cap is sealing properly, make sure to inspect the sealing surface of the filler neck where the cap seals. Assuming that it is, this vehicle runs a pretty complex EVAP system. It uses a leak detection pump located on the canister to force pressure in the system and check the system for leaks. The codes you have stored are all EVAP system leak codes. The only sure way to test the system is to use a smoke machine to pressure test the system for leaks. This will determine if the system has an actual leak or if the leak detection pump has failed and is causing a false leak code. If you can find a leak using a smoke machine the fix is simple, repair what is leaking smoke. If the system is sealed then you must determine if the leak detection pump has failed or a wiring issue with the pump has caused it to operate incorrectly. I hope it helps, I know it is a lot of information. If we get a Toyota in with this system, we will be sure to film a diagnostic video with more details. ~Ryan Wilsing

    Nice one.👍 Hey i have a question. I've read MotorAge article that when programing modern car modules, the car need to have stable power supply hooked to the battery. Not battery charger, not battery maintainer, but "stable power supply". These things are extremly expensive , the one i found - "Schumacher" is nearly 700$. Do you think this is a lie just to sell the equipment. Can i use just a battery charger ?

  • @GoTechTraining

    @GoTechTraining

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Petar, In this video, the used PCM already has the operating software programed into it. We are relearning the security immobilizer and re-writing the VIN. When programing most manufactures ECMs/PCMs the modules are either blank or need software written into the module for them to operate. This can take time, sometimes hours and the battery could get dangerously low, very quickly. When a module is being programed sensitive data is transferred between module and the interface used. This data can become corrupt if too much dirty or A/C voltage gets into the system. That being said anytime you program a module it is recommended to use a stable (clean D/C voltage) power supply. The use of a normal battery charger can easily cause a module to fail during programing. Which will cause the module to brick. If a stable power supply is not available you can use a fully charged jump pack to help maintain voltage but a D/C maintainer is ideal.

    Hi Ovidiu, that's a tough question to answer. I definitely have a few scan tools that are on my top list to use, such as the Snap-on Verus and the Autel Maxisys. But I have to mention there are a lot of scan tools I have not had a chance to use yet. As far as which one shines in what category, that question is even harder to answer. This is because each scan tool's coverage and features can change depending on the car make and model. While one scan tool works best for EVAP on a 2000 GM, another scan may work best on EVAP for a 2000 Toyota. I recommend when buying scan tool, first decide which type of coverage or options you need, (for example, data graphing, immobilizer relearns, bi-directional controls) Then choose one that fits closest to your needs. Thanks for the question! Ryan Wilsing, Technical Instructor
