The simple fact is that being a owner op is not worth it. I make 100K a year driving local and I have no expenses since I’m a company driver. Your better off buying a house or saving up to go to university. Don’t waste your time paying off a truck that was never intended to make you money anyway.

I agree, when you gross 150k before taxes on 10-99, makes more sense to make 100k on a w2 and not have any headaches 🤷

It depends. As owner operator you can put a lot of deductions and don't pay +-25% to the corrupted government. 😊

And owner op work when they want to vs you having to ask to take time off. My cousin hardy drive he will work 2 week take a week off on his down time he in the gym with his family and still manage to bring home the same amount a regular w2 worker bring home with less driven miles and less work. I did the math he take a week off ever month that like 2 and a half months of not working and still making good Money to provide for his family

@@andyhandyman2118you’re still going to spend that money somewhere else where it will be taxed. Either way, the government gets what they want.

I think that the pay per mile-model has to go the way of the dodo and drivers be paid every hours they are on the job, be it rolling on the highway or waiting for a load. I think it is part of the salesmen to sell the higher rate to the customers in exchange of service and convenience (for the customer), if you keep getting the same drivers at your facility, who knows how it works at your terminal, factory or whatever, it will also ease the burden on your (the shipper's) staff, allowing them to be more productive.

The government is a liar when it comes to safety. They give lip service to safety but never do the one thing that would make a significant difference. Require drivers are paid by the hour, hour starts from log in, ending at log out. Doesn't matter off duty or sleeper, as long as logged in, on the clock. The govt is constantly in everyone's business forcing their rules but yet they never cross that one particular line...

I’m starting school next week, doing this will help long term but the hours I’ll lose due to schooling will make the bills a little higher. I hear food service is always hiring , can be as high as 2k a week but it’s a LOT of work. I live in Virginia Beach near ports so I’m wondering if drop and hook, P/D or reefer runners get hired with no experience out of school?
