As always, excellent, thank you UAR & Mary Beard! However, I disagree strongly with her views on no required Latin in education (80% of medical/science terms), & English vocab itself ,& basis for all Romance Lang's, etc), and not making comparisons to modern problems! Nonsense, & disservice! Greek tragedy was intimately involved in mixing history, myth, & modern democratic times! But primarily, if you believe all human nature is the same, it hasn't changed one little bit, then ALL history has a direct & applicable PRESENT for us! Nevermind the history as a cycle mantra. Or the 20th century new history of Science & Technology, perhaps keys to future science, etc. Grave error, Dr. Beard! If we cannot rely on the past to help us forward, we are left with modernity as our only guide? Please! That's why we're where we are! Also the political historian (Stichnner, Shictman?) who has predicted every U.S. president correctly since 1984! He used political past history to formulate his fields of prediction (it's the Party in power)! Direct evidence that history can offer real power, & real awareness, for our own time! Go ahead, take a risk!

I love Mary Beard, but I absolutely despise that shes getting more and more into the woke, feminist bs narrative.
