Their direct support helps keep this channel afloat in the ever unstable world of KZread ad revenue. These videos will always be disclosed, of course, and I appreciate everyone's kind support for these partnerships. Royalty Soaps also participates in commission or discount affiliations, like Amazon or RewardStyle, as these opportunities become available, like Amazon and RewardStyle and while the money we make with these links isn't much, every little bit counts and once again, we really appreciate your support! For anyone who decides to do that "Hand Soap" thing and wants to sell them please remember that those types of cleaning gloves are made with latex and there are people who are very allergic to latex so if you use it and want to sell it you need to let everyone know you used latex as the mold. I am allergic to latex and if I touch something that had been made with or for some reason had been around latex for some reason I get a very horrible allergic reaction. I just thought I would put this here because not many people realize or think about this type of allergy.

    @@megankrahl1182 it can get very bad from a bleeding rash to not being able to breath. Most people with latex allergy are medical workers or others that have come into contact with it on a daily bases. When we had to use nothing but latex gloves. I guess the more you use it the more chance of getting an allergy to it. I cant count how many medical professionals I know who are allergic to it.

    The glove was puffing up for two reasons: 1. As the glove was getting filled with the soap, it had to expand in the container pushing the air outside the glove but trapped in the container upward; 2. The heat from the melt and pour was heating up the surrounding trapped air and causing it to expand. Also the T-handshape is appropriate for a handsoap! Since handsoaps usually go in the bathroom (T-handshape is used in the ASL sign for "bathroom")

    They say the Ivory soap has to be as new, and fresh, as you can. Old Ivory soap that has set around, won't expand. The wrapper needs to be wet and sticky to the bar. Not dry and separated.

  • @OrigamiMarie

    @OrigamiMarie

    2 жыл бұрын

    Oh that makes sense for a few reasons. Microwaves mostly act upon water molecules, and lots of other kinds of molecules mostly ignore them. Also I think this effect is based on water turning into steam in the tiny air bubbles within the soap, expanding them, and then escaping. For both of these reasons, if you use soap that is already dry, it won't have any water to do the work.

  • @JenniferThorson

    @JenniferThorson

    The Ivory soap works because Ivory has lots of tiny air bubbles. It's the same reason why Ivory floats. When the air bubbles in the soap heat up they expand.

    What I'd try to do to make concentric rings would be to mold the centermost portion first, let it dry, and when it's solid put it in the middle of the next larger mold, and pour the white around the edge, then repeat for the green. Idk if that would work, but a similar technique worked for me when I've layered jello.

    That'd be fascinating to see the design process for! I'm guessing the raised Braille bumps would have to be created using round embeds on the surface of a nonfrosted soap bar...? For someone with visual impairment, I imagine the fragrance would be of even more interest too. (Unless, like me, you are drastically allergic to most fragrancing products??) I'd be really interested to hear a little about how you find the experience of watching Katie's videos with just the audio component? Her content generally does seem really good at having anything in any onscreen instructional text repeated verbally (such as colorant names etc). Although I'm guessing a lot of Caleb the editor's great visual jokes might escape, alas. Her spoken descriptions of finished products are usually detailed enough to get a reasonable idea of what the final bars look like too, which wouldn't always be the case with every KZread creative I've encountered...?

    With the ivory soap, I think that the people getting more "cloud like" results are probably getting the soap wet first. The addition of water would certainly alter the reaction, and it would make sense that it would increase it. The entire reason the ivory soap thing works at all is that ivory soap is filled with little air pockets. When you heat the bar in the microwave the ambient moisture in those pockets gets heated into steam and forces out this sort of cascade of dry soap foam. If you were to get the bar of soap wet, some of those pockets would become filled with water, it would be like adding fuel for a bigger reaction.

    I think what might be easier for the watermelon soap would be to just mold a disk of green, once cooled cut out the centre, repeat with white then red. At least that would spare you the gluing trauma. Most importantly though the easiest way to get the rings would be to buy a set of graduated circle cookie cutters. Still a lot of work for a couple of soaps that are just cute. Or pour sheets and roll it up like the cinnamon roll?

  • @nicolelavigne1700

    @nicolelavigne1700

    2 жыл бұрын

    I just realized also that they did it the hard way. It would be easier to start inside out ie mold the red, then pop it out and mold the next layer around it. (would not work though if you are using a cup for the inner mold, you need something open at both ends.

    For the watermelon soap work smarter not harder. Make sheets of each color needed then once almost completely hardened cut out the shapes you need with a set of circular cookie cutters that gradually grow smaller. After that adhere the rings together with a bit more melt and pour on the sides. It should work and you'll get way more bars this way. 😁
