What an amazing choice for you for your first Dimash performance. Are you familiar with the Russian singer, Vitas? Dimash performed the award-winning composition by Vitas, "Opera 2", in his break-out appearance on the Chinese singing reality show "I'm a Singer- 2017". It might be a performance you would enjoy just to watch, or to choose for a reaction/analysis. Thanks for this excellently informative video. AND - Thanks for not calling him an "alien" and giving him the credit for his hard work!!!

As someone who has been following Dimash closely for six years since his breakout performance on the Chinese reality show in 2017, I'm happy to see that you have decided to feature him in your reaction videos, and I surely hope that you will continue to do so. If you have read the complimentary comments elsewhere, you already know that he is a worldwide phenomenon and that there is much more where this came from. The astounding thing, though, is that everything else is unique to what you just witnessed, and every song and performance is unique to every other song and performance-----and just as amazing, and often just plain mind-blowing. I have often said that all the most important music of my music obsessed life became less important to me the moment that I discovered Dimash----and I mean every word of that. I'll leave it to others to suggest further songs and performances for you to react to, because I am of the belief that you can close your eyes and point to any of them and never, ever be disappointed at what appears.

I am surprised you started with this one . There are many performances to choose from. Try going back to the beginning, 2017, at The Singer competition in China. That's when he was "discovered" by the world. He was only 22 then. He is 28 now and has improved, his voice is deeper and and stronger now. I hope you get to watch a lot more of him. Btw he says he is a baritone, although he can do any tone, sound and genre. Also sings in 14/15 languages too. Yes, he has trained his voice since he was 5, when he was found to have perfect pitch.

@@nickhiggsthesinger You should know that The Story of One Sky was composed by Dimash and designed by him to be the soundtrack of his antiwar short film. One vocal coach saw the live version without knowing this fact and stated parts of the song were unnecessary and too long. No, it is perfectly designed as the music and vocals are synced perfectly with the action in the film. So you might want to see the film first to understand the context and meaning of the song.

WHY the mislead in suggesting the live version of The Story Of One Sky?? The video needs to be seen to understand the lyrics and to read the whole point of the video at the end. We went through a reactor that INSISTED on reacting to the live version and she got totally confused by just hearing the lyrics without knowing what they were about. We don't need other reactors doing the same thing. Every reactor needs to see the video FIRST, then they can watch the live version without getting confused!! 👗👗👠👠💓💓

BOTH versions are important. The video is amazing, a must tto see, and the most moving impactful creations, as you say, critical to understand what is happening , but challenging for reactors to separate out technical vocal analysis from the distraction of what they see (as oposed to a reactor that is taken over by the total impact of the video). The delivery of the vocal ending, live, on the fancam, for me, is way more gutteral and heart felt. So in conclusion, I absolutely agree.... DO watch the MV video first to understand. but vocally. Please listen to the live Vietnam fancan after. True vocal coaches have always commented that the distraction and they can't imagine how he would deliver it ljve.. 🥰

I'm surprised that you are not more impressed by Dimash. His voice is extremely beautiful. Many people are moved to tears when listening to this. Although you said many times that other people can sing like this, I personally highly doubt it. No one else combines the breath control, perfect pitch, pure angelic tone, even vibrato, and absolutely no strain at all in producing these high tones. Also, you didn't even listen to the end of his singing. I think you need to listen to this again, without all the interruptions.

Dimash has all the registers, tenor, barítono and soprano. He can sing everything, different styles of music, and does it good. He has composed by himself two masterpieces you should lísten and react to. The two songs are amazing, his vocals reach the perfection.

So you have heard his countertenor voice, and some professional singers say this is the best countertenor singing in the world. Amazing as it is this is about 5% of what he can do vocally. You are in for a treat if you continue listening to him. That last phrase, particularly the straight tone part! Could you take a paint brush and paint a perfectly straight line? Could you do the same after 5mins of heavy lifting? Some of my favourites Dimash songs are - Daybreak - a very emotional piece if you know the story and read the subtitles. - Sinful passion - the best 23 second phrase EVER - Stranger - 4 1/2 octaves and a huge variely of techniques!!! - Hello - his cover of Lionel Richie's song - Your love - a beautiful song that climbs through the octaves - Passione - I'll just mention a few suberbly tuned kind of chromatic passages - The story of one sky - all of his techniques wrapped up in a message for world piece.

The crescendo decrescendo crescendo...stunning. I hope you go back and listen to this performance without your own interruptions...I get it. You're reacting and you're amazed. But, please go back and just LISTEN to what we just witnessed. I think you talked over that last note. By the way, it's even more impressive live.

Right, the "Control" kills the most. I have been following Dimash since 2017 when he shook the world with his SOS rendition, then it gets better: Know, Passione, Olimpic, & more. Mr. Higgs, you have a lot of work to do. Thanks for sharing your reaction.

Этот мини-фильм является номинантом на международном кинофестивале, который состоится в Лондоне в марте месяце. El Amor En En Ti Димаш написал для своих испаноговорящих Dears по их многочисленным просьбам. Это было фантастическое, эклектичное зрелище, на сцене пели 4 Димаша. Вы очень правильно заметили, что вокал Димаша не просто природный талант, но огромный труд. Димаш высокообразованный человек, он учился музыке с 5 лет. Nothing as good as finding another extremely knowledgeable voice teacher reviewing Dimash. I'm not a singer and no nothing but what I hear from reviewers. Notice at the beginning when Dimash is getting ready to sing you hear the heartbeat slowing down before stopping then Dimash sings its like the passing of life to be greeted by the angels. To me this is the closest you will get to heaven without going there. Even though this isn't the Catholic Prayer version it still gets the message across beautifully

I think Dimash provides us with the best approximation we can ever have of what the most celebrated castrati singers must have sounded like in their 18th century operatic heyday. He has preserved his upper extension through puberty, and it has acquired the power that comes with an adult physique. He's really singing up in that 6th Octave, it's not falsetto, and it's a noticeably different sound to even the best counter tenors. We only have written accounts of singers such as Farinelli, but the speak of the brilliance of tone and great power in resonance and projection. The castration of young boys in hope of a protected existence in the top Italian chapels, or possibly stardom in the great opera houses of Europe, was a barbaric practice. Nevertheless these men inspired some of the greatest works of Baroque opera, so one cannot help but wonder what they sounded like. If they sounded like Dimash, then I imagine audiences were enthralled.

Dimash has a range from lowest bass to the highest whistle, D8 with vibrato for 5 seconds in a live performance at an outdoor festival. He is a phenomenon that is so rare. He sings in every range perfectly, sings every genre from Opera to Rap, yes really. A highly musically educated artist, vocalist, multi instrumentalist and very talented sportsman. Dimash is like a sound recorder. He can literally repeat any sound, not just musical notes. He also imitates (and plays) various instruments. He's already got a Master's Degree in Music Composition and will soon commence a Doctorate in Musicology. He has also sang in more than 16 languages and always sings at least one song in the native language of the country he is performing at.

I feel like you should watch his progression chronologically because you can see how his voice matures over time, but anything you choose is incredible. This isn't perfectly in chronological order but somewhat. SOS, Sinful Passion, Adagio, unforgettable day, Olimpico, Hello, Accross Endless dimensions, Ikanaide, Stranger, The stroy of One Sky. His talent is undescribable and I'm always glad when new high level voice coaches react to him because I can learn something new.

Yes, there is definitely so much more to learn from Dimash. This was more of his operatic style. I recommend "Stranger" next for an epic vibe with different singings styles. "Opera 2" is a comic opera song, where Dimash impresses everyone. "Sinful Passion" shows some of his low range, which is, by the way, beautiful. For Kazakh traditional folk song, with Kazakh instruments, try "Daididau" and "Samaltau", also "Qairan Elim", which is a MV that he co directed. For a demonstration of his incredible voice and breathing control, try "Ikanaide". For fun, try "Be with me", a MV, where you can see Dimash in action, including rapping in Kazakh. (you'll understand when you see it)! To compare him to a great singer, listen to "All by Myself". And finally, to see how Dimash can adapt to other singers, listen to the trio "Ti Amo Cosi', with Aida Garifullina and Lara Fabian. Happy listening!

I love the detail in your reactions. Thankyou. And you are right about what there is in Dimash’s extremely talented and focus driven singing. I’ve been watching him with great fervour for about 3-4 years now, and keep hearing new details all the time. I’m 75, and pretty well only watch him, Lara Fabian and Queen, and that takes up a lot of time. Dimash is unique in every area of his life, is unbelievably humble and loving to everyone that surrounds him…and there are a lot of people who are in his team and business, concert associates, production specialists, and his public displays of love for his family, fans called Dears, his nation and teachers and colleges, friends, and they are endless. His great love is performing live in concerts all around the world, and fans from 150+ countries follow him from concert to concert. Dimash is awarded as a National Treasure in Kazakhstan (ex USSR) on the Great Steppe, and has many awards in China, Russia, Dubai, and locally in surrounding Asian countries. He loves to promote Kazakhstan in his concerts to the great approval of his audiences with ethnic music song and dance, and sometimes operatic songs and singers. When he has time, he learns songs in foreign languages to his fans delight, and they sometimes sing along with him. He does adlib Vocalese mixed with jazz onstage and his band follows along. At most concerts he changes small details in songs so that there are many versions of everything on the internet. Dimash is a Master of Composition himself, so some songs are his own. He is very qualified in music, and I think that is why he was placed in Kazakhstan, with an operatic mother high soprano with staccato, and a dad that sings with her onstage. Dimash sings in 7+ octaves and is stunning in each and every one. His voice is gorgeous. His vibrato is perfect and pleasing. He sings in multiple genres and each one is great. He sings in 14+ languages. He has the best voice and is the best singer on the planet. He has been singing every single day and training since he was 3yrs old. He practices no less than 3 hrs every single day. He sings constantly. He swims to build up his lungs. This is an original composition from Igor Krutoy (at piano) who came out of retirement to work with Dimash. Everything that has come from this partnership is amazing. Great reaction, thank you! I think the most incredible thing about Dimash is not even his mastering of vocal techniques etc, but how he always wants to tell a story. How he prefers quality over popularity and will always choose music that he loves and that has a certain value to him. How he is humble and kind and cares about the world and people. He rarely sings the same song the same way twice, always keeps tweaking and changing things. Which is astounding to me.

Dimash is more critical of himself than any critic. He stated that he does vocal training for 3-5 hrs. a day every day, and longer if he has a concert coming up. To me, that is true dedication and passion for his craft. He said that since the age of two, he has never wanted to do anything other than sing. Thank you for your comments. He is famous for having an unusually wide vocal range and his ability to sing in more than fifteen languages. Dimash was born Dinmukhammed Kanatuly Kudaibergen in the Aktobe region of Kazakhstan on the 24th of May, 1994. When he was only five years old, Dimash began taking vocal and piano lessons at the children's section of the Akhmet Zhubanov Music College. He continued his training throughout his school years and eventually attended the music institute of K. Zhubanov University. He graduated in 2014 with a classical music degree centred on vocal ability. He continued his musical education by studying contemporary music Kazakh National University of Arts in Astana. He successfully received a Master's degree in Composition and was even recommended for the PhD program. Throughout his time at university, Dimash entered four major singing competitions in Kazakhstan. He won the National Zhas Kanat Contest with a perfect score of 180 out of 180, which was unprecedented in the competition's history. In December 2014, he was awarded a laureate of the State Youth Prize Daryn. He released his first album in China the same year, and it went platinum in thirty-seven seconds! I really appreciate how much you mentioned about posture, Dimash definitely sings with his entire body and swims to improve breath control and overall body strength. As you have clearly already heard, there are so many different layers to Dimash’s music, many say it’s a genre of his own, even if it’s a cover, he pays respect to the original but adds something traditional or different to make it his own rather than imitating the original. "Ikanaide" from 2021 Tokyo Jazz has become my absolute favourite Dimash song, it's just beautiful. I also love his rendition of "Daybreak" at the Bastau concert (make sure you read the story behind the song if you watch that one), I love his original MV for "Screaming" and more recently "Stranger" which shows how far his English has come. Other popular songs are SOS, Sinful Passion, Love is Like a Dream, The Love of Tired Swans, Across Endless Dimensions and Olympico among many others!

I did enjoy this reaction mainly because of your professional and objective comments. Neddles to say that Dimash's singing is unique, at least for me. I guess Dimash is baritone but his vical range is huge . If I had to suggest another song by Dimash is the one called " Ogni Pietra" also known as Olympico. His classical teacher called Dimash a tenor, Dimash graduated Classical (Bel Canto) as tenor. That said, he had a nice low register since young, and high register as well, which he kept and trained throughout adolescence. The purity of Dimash's voice, the genius of Igor Krutoy's composition, the choir, instrumentation, and staging all combine to transport the listener beyond this earthly existence into the heavenly worlds. Dimash is great!

You may enjoy him singing the Diva Dance from the Fifth Element, the vocal work in that one is something to behold. SOS is wonderful as well and well worth a reaction. His version of Vitas's Opera 2 is another fantastic one.

he can sing as a virtuoso soprano and no falsetto according to some opera singers
