Anna Olson's chocolatey cookies are rolled in an icing sugar coating. Click show more for recipe ingredients and directions.
Chocolate Crinkle Cookies recipe ingredients:
- 9 oz (270 g) dark couverture chocolate, chopped, divided
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla extract
- 1 tsp (5 mL) balsamic vinegar
- 1 cup (130 g) icing sugar, plus extra for rolling cookies
- ½ cup (60 g) cocoa powder
- 1 Tbsp (7 g) cornstarch
- ½ tsp (2.5 g) salt
Baking directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 ºF (190 ºC). Line 2 baking trays with parchment paper.
2. Melt 6 oz (180 g) of the chocolate in a metal bowl placed over a saucepan filled with an inch of barely simmering water, stirring gently until melted. Set aside.
3. With electric beaters or in a stand mixer fitted with the whip attachment, whip the eggs with the granulated sugar, vanilla and Balsamic until frothy and light, about 3 minutes (it doesn’t have to hold a “ribbon”). Whisk in the melted chocolate.
4. Sift in the icing sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch and salt and stir in by hand until well combined. Stir in the remaining 3 oz (90 g) of chopped chocolate. The batter may seem very soft at first, but just give it a minute - it will tighten up.
5. Place some icing sugar in a shallow dish. Use a small ice cream scoop to scoop the batter and drop it directly into the icing sugar, rolling to coat each scoop fully. Arrange these on the prepared baking trays, leaving 1 ½-inches (4 cm) between them. Gently press each cookie flat with the palm of your hand. Bake the cookies for 10 minutes (do not overbake) and cool the cookies on the tray just until they can be lifted off (1-2 minutes) then cool on a rack.

So I made these cookies today and they are delicious!! However I found them to be (very) rich and chocolatey- almost too much - 180 to 230g of chocolate would have been plenty for my taste. The 1/2tsp of salt I found was a little too much as well, you could easily get away with a heaped 1/4tsp and it would still bring out all those flavours. I was skeptic all about the balsamic - but it truly did create a fantastic crinkle. Oh and I found the dough to be very sticky when working (I waited 20 minutes to harden it up) so I had to pop it in the fridge for a bit to harden up so I could work it into balls. Hope this comment helps someone else wanting to make them :).

What about the quantity of sugar? It seems too much. Did the cookie turn out too sweet?
@XxMadz007
3 жыл бұрын
@@radhikaiyengar3313 I put too much salt in them to be sweet :/ but to me if you just put a pinch of salt I think the sugar compliments the dark richness of the chocolate

I’ve added more dark chocolate than milk to make the cookies less sweet, tossing in white chocolate chips and it’s an instant hit! Love this recipe!
Hmmm? I just came home with some new “dark Chocolate” cocoa powder maybe I’ll have to use it...I love chocolate cookies.
My mom used to make vanilla crinkle cookies, omg they were soo good.

Superb!! & just as easy as the vid...Better than a fudge brownie; trying with walnuts next time...Thank you for all your fabulous quick to the point recipes!!
I love Anna's recipe for chocolate chip cookies and I bet these are just as good. When I make the chocolate chip ones, I always leave them on the freezer so I can bake fresh cookies whenever needed. I wonder if these crinkle ones can go in the freezer as well. While I definitely can and would love to eat the whole batch at once, I think it would be best to save part of the recipe for another day ;)
Turns owsum
this is wonderful and suits for holiday

The dough is very hard to mix and it dries very fast too. I have to quickly shape and roll into icing sugar. The final cookies are very chewy and tasty :D

Hi. Your recipes are undoubtedly the best. Mine tasted good but went flat and were not as yours. What can be the reason in your opinion? Thanks.
Can I use any other type of vinegar to replace the balsamic vinegar?
Hello I made the gingerbread crinkle cookies today! They are delicious! I was looking at the chocolate crinkle cookie video and noticed that the oven temperature is 375 where the gingerbread cookie has a 325 temperature. And you didn't smack the pan. Is there a difference in the ingredients? Thank you so much for this recipe it's one of the best I've come across.
Ur amazing
