What the US says and does is a different thing.

Really? Can you cite a specific example?
Actions speak louder than words. One day Pres. Biden will say 'responsible positive words' but then next week he will do otherwise. And this will be the same for any other US politicians. Until the US truly recognize as a peer that cannot be contained, there can be no de-escalation.

US politicians are very talented, they don't have to wait for "next week" to do nasty things, they're very skilled at saying "positive words" and stabbing you at the same time.
Actions speak louder than words. What the Americans have said and done are vastly contradictory, and that cost them their credibility

Contradictory? Really, like what? Indeed, name something America promised to do but did the opposite. Something where America's actions didn't match their words.

@@npc2480 So what you want me to do? Feel sorry for the Communist Chinese? Give me a break, I can't feel sorry for the Communist Chinese. I believe in democracy and despise totalitarianism. Moreover, the USA still abides by the one China policy, sort of. As the USA is deliberately being ambiguous about it to thwart Chinese expansion. The USA has always sold Taiwan defensive weapons, and the USA always will, and there isn't a damn thing you or the Communist Chinese can do about it other than point their finger and bitch about it. Why should a world superpower like the USA bow to the whims of a Communist totalitarian dictator? I mean, should Xi Jinping make the stupid mistake of attempting to take Taiwan by force, then the China we all know today will be history in far less than a year. Why because Taiwan strategically is far too valuable to the world to let the Communist Chinese have it. Times have changed and circumstances along with them have also changed. China is a very weak export nation that is extremely integrated into the globalist world economy that the USA post WWII created. As China imports 80 percent of its oil and natural gas, over 90 percent of its fertilizer inputs to grow crops, and over 70 percent of the raw materials used for manufacturing products. Plus the USA and the EU are China's two biggest trading partners. In other words, we hold all the cards. If the US satellites in space pickup that China is amassing to try to take Taiwan, in about five minutes the Strait of Malacca will be blockaded and both the USA and the EU will cease trading with China. Hence, how will China pursue a war with no oil and natural gas and with zero revenues? It won't, it will be de-industrialized in less than a year . Meanwhile, what you want me to do, cry and feel sorry for Xi Jinping, a Communist dictator like you do? Yeah right, I feel sorry for him. It doesn't matter, in any event, the China miracle has come to an end and their economy as we are already starting to see, is beginning to implode. As their population demographics have doomed their economic miracle to completely collapse and implode on itself.

@@bullfrog5037 Personal insults. Nice and telling. And yes, no country can come close to challenging US supremacy in thinking it rules the world and woe betide anyone who thinks otherwise. Moreover, the myriad of steps like the Chips Act and Huawei ban, these were because the US was actually totally chill and unconcerned. That makes sense.

America by far is the world's hegemon and no other country in the world can possibly challenge America for supremacy ever. Not China and definitely not anyone else, for that matter. As the USA is the lone economic and military superpower in the world and will always remain so forever and ever. For instance, China's export economy is the most integrated into the world economy in the world. Thus, if China's trade partners slow their purchasing down, China's economy feels it. As China's export economy always remains at the mercy of its trading partners. Furthermore, China imports over 80 percent of its oil and natural gas, over 90 percent of its fertilizer inputs to grow crops, and over 50 percent of the raw materials used in manufacturing. If any of those inputs get interrupted for any reason, China's economy feels it. Meanwhile, the USA's economy, on the other hand, isn't export based like China's economy. The USA's economy is consumption based. As the people living in America make far more money and work far less hours relative to the Chinese workers. Hence, the American people have far more time off and far more disposable income relative to the Chinese people. As only 15 percent of America's economy is export based and then over half of that is traded with Canada and Mexico. Not only that but the USA is also completely 100 percent energy independent courtesy of shale oil. As America has one of the least integrated economies with the global economy in the world. Hence, unlike China's economy that is effected by virtually everything that happens in the world good or bad, America's economy isn't impacted in the least. Thus, even if China wasn't about to suffer a massive demographic collapse in the very near future that will totally eradicate their economy in only a short period of time, there is no way that China's economy could ever come close to over taking America's economy because China's economy, in which is export based, as oppose to consumption based like the USA's economy, is completely dependent on its trading partners. Indeed, America will always remain the lone hegemon of the world forever and ever because not only is America a democratic society with a capitalist economic system in which provides the greatest amount of wealth for the greatest amount of people and that always strictly adheres to the rule of law, but the biggest and greatest reason of all why America will always remain the lone economic and military superpower in the world forever and ever is because no other country in the world is blessed with nearly as good of a geography as the USA.

What if US said one thing but act differently later. That's not uncommon for US in particular by law, new act or simply doing it unilaterally. Pelosi's visit is a good example and mb Trump's new plan next in the near future.
In my opinion, the meeting was definitely a starting point. Now, let's hope the Mr. 'I'm the POTUS and I can do whatever I want' doesn't make a come back in 2024.
USA would only stop the provocation when their economy becomes no. 2 and hopefully no 3 as well when India replaces USA also.
