    They saw every other pedal company, took a page from each of their books, put it in a blender and slapped a RIDICULOUS price tag on it. Well played, DW.

    Great pedal. Just overpriced by at least $500 especially with the Pearl Demon Drive pedal coming in at roughly half the price for virtually the same thing. Really like DW stuff but this price is just ridiculous.

    I have one and it's extremely durable, the carrying bag is also indestructable and it's very, very useful. Extremely dynamic pedal, great for all genres, except for insanely fast and strong heavy metal drumming. There are better pedals for that type, though this one is also great

    I was looking at my Tricks during the video and thinking, " ok but my pedals are still better. Way to copy them and Axis though." And the Tricks are more customize-able. I could have a long or short board if I wanted, direct or chain drive if I wanted, double pedal or two singles and my own unique laser guided trigger system. Oh yea and compression springs are way easier to deal with than tension/expansion springs.

    AXIS Percussion perfected the machined direct drive pedal 25 year ago! I bought this DW pedal, but after 5 minutes and adjusting it to its tightest settings, I struggled to get fast double hits. it was sluggish like all their other pedals. it has too many parts, and the spring is a pain in the ass to change. too many deal breakers for me. I returned it and got a new AXIS A Pedal with Micro-Tune, forward beater bracket, and wide footboard. it's awesome!

    I have to play the DW 9002 with the springs no more than 45 percent or so. They fight me too hard and feel sluggish cause of it if increase the tension past that point. Before that they fly for me. Never tried this over priced dd contraption though.

    ***** Thanks for the comment and I apologise for the late reply. So, yeah... if a person isn't very careful when using pedals (or anything for that matter), they're obviously more likely to break. Which reminds me... I think they need to be kept lubricated, too, right?

  • @SeverinoSE

    ***** Ouch! I would suggest using soap and water had it not been a pedal because that removes grease, oil and dirt but don't do it because it could cause damage. I guess these things are made to not need any lubrication.

  • @SeverinoSE

    @SeverinoSE

    8 жыл бұрын

    Johnny Roastbeef Yes, there's a review by a user who was very upset about Axis pedals. It's the same joint that broke on my friend's pedal. By the way, what's with the quotes? For the argument, if my car seat belt broke, I definitely wouldn't buy a new car, but, it makes us think because a simple car seat belt theoretically wouldn't let us use the car at all since it's mandatory by law to drive with the seat belt on (!)

    Look kids you can buy the most expensive or the cheapest pedals. There is a difference but the bottom line a pedal is not going to make you better. It's within the person using it. Mike Johnston reflects on this. When he does his clinics and picks out what he's using. He will pick the less expensive hardware, and blaze with this stuff. He explains about the gear does not make you better. It's not about speed it's all about control and playing clean clear notes. If you look up Mike he illustrates this in his videos!

    Two or three points I'd like to make: One, DW should use only that linkage in all pedals including PDP Two, why the heel plate? Three, the price is 100% in line with other top pedals Four, its an extortive industry in general if you ask me Five, next time big pharma needs a CEO they should look at the musical instruments industry.

    You complain that the pedal is too expensive, yet the DD pedals from Trick and Axis are just as much ($400 street for a Pro 1V vs $450 for DW MDD). The design is not unlike Trick and Axis, yet, you complain about DW's aesthetic and that their pedal is the "metal shop fail" for ....what reason, again? For a company with a strong pedal game like DW (admit it, you have played a 5000 pedal in the last 30 years) for them to not have a direct drive option, though they have every other one, is "incomplete". So they made a DD pedal, and it's comparable to what's offered on the market. If they tried to offer their DD pedal as a 9000 with DD linkage, you'd complain they're being lazy and not stepping up their design. So, where does the bitching end? Yamaha makes a DD pedal for $190 street, Pearl has Demon Drive ($300 or $350 street, as much as a 9000 single pedal). Else you can scour ebay for a Squeak King and enjoy that DD goodness. I'd say STFU, but I'm sure there's going to be something else to bitch about coming from DW, and no sooner than when NAMM begins this week.

    I see your point def, but the only problem is even DWs regular chain drive pedals like the DW 9002 which I have are overpriced. I own a DW 9002 which is only 6 months old which I'm selling if anyone's interested because I perform way better on my $399.00 mapex falcon double pedal. I paid 600 for my 9002 and it fatigues me much quicker than my falcon, go figure. The springs being on the inside is also a design flaw imho as my toes often hit them when I use slide technique. I'm sure it'd last for a long time prob but. This dd by DW I haven't tried but I've not been too happy with my experiences with DW so far. I also bought a super solid snare as I bought into the hype videos by DW on KZread. Also was very disappointed couldn't get a good tight sound outta it, only a medium and low thuddy ballad sounds sounded good. I now play the sonor Benny greb snare and a grestch aluminum USA custom snare and love them. The grestch was half the price and even the sonor BG sig snare was $300 cheaper.

  • @drummaman1

    @drummaman1

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Larry Tate fair enough. The SS snare in its first version had some issues that I hope were corrected in newer versions. $300 less for a Benny Greb sig snare? The DW SS snare round my neck of the woods is $750, the Greb snare lowest price I've seen is $900. As for the 9000 spring on the inside of the post, I don't have that problem. I have the toe stops on mine but my foot never reaches that area when playing doubles/sliding. There are a few who have complained, but the majority are happy with the design of the 9000 as it is. Else you get a 5000. Most people who have 9000s have them for a long time, so it's an investment. There are plenty of other pedals on the market if you don't want or can't justify paying as much for the 9000 or even the MDD/MCD. Point being is that the prices are competitive with similar offerings from other brands, yet DWs are "overpriced".

  • @larrytate1657

    @larrytate1657

    At the time I bought my super solid it was 1,200. The fourteen by 6.5 medium shell. 10 lug. I did pay 900 for the Benny greb, yes but do you know how much signature DW snares go for? The Neil Peart or the other few that got? Idk either but I bet over 2 grand. Yes the 9002 is a great pedal but I just think they could easily sell it for 475 and still make plenty of profit on it. They do ask for extra for their name, that's all. A lot of times it works because people equate more expensive with better but sometimes it's not in DW's case in my experiences. I agree though they have beautiful gear and most of their stuff is worth it, if you have the money. I'm actually back on my DW 9002 now as I oiled it up the other day and it's ultra smooth feel drew me back. Now the mapex falcolns are on the practice pad and the 9002 on the kit, lol.

    +Larry Tate actually now that you mention it, I remember the SS were only 5.5 size when they first started, and yes, that price sounds accurate. Apologies. I heard the SS sound didn't match their price tag for sure. I think you're paying for the name which whichever brand you buy, and there's enough Camco technology in most brands of those pedals, anyway. Cheers!

    Tbh I only kept it about a month and don't remember that good. I remember it was the half inch thick she'll version and I opted for the middle of the three paint jobs, the lacquer finish I think it was. I just got black lacquer. I remember exotic was the next option they told me which was more money and I think they said the regular was just like a finished wood grain or something. I might have had better luck with the 3/8 inch thinner she'll option. Maybe it was 5.5 cause I got it when it was new on the market still. It was 10 lug I remember. Happy drumming, cheers.

    DW basically plagiarized 3 to 4 different bass pedals, and called it their own. It's to frontal heavy and retail price is F**kin outrageous.

    to paraphrase a quote from the 70's romero dawn of the dead ... the only person who can suck on these pedals is the person with the bread to buy it ... (from the scene in the gun shop) looks like a pedal worth trying .. but 1k for a double pedal ... guaranteed .. the rich kid who has a set thinking it'll make him play better will have less than half the ability of the guy still playing a beat up 20 yr old iron cobra

  • @Hadrorex

    Why waste the money? The DW 5000 is many times cheaper and have served me well over thirty years! Make 'em prettier and charge an arm and a leg. Not worth the price! Same goes for the DW line of drums. I got more bang for my buck on a set of used Yamaha Maple Custom Absolutes from Guitar Center online. I'll be putting away and perhaps be selling my DWs. The Trick spring compression is much better than the spring-stretching compression everybody else sells.

    +Johnny Roastbeef A21's are just as nice as the A's if not better due to the addition of the micro-tune system. but you can add the micro-tune set to the A-L.

    i cant believe DW now manufactures the most EXPENSIVE pedal ON THE MARKET, and it doesnt have longboard capability, and STILL has the shitty basic spring system. if you are going to spend money on a direct drive pedal, just go ahead and spend the only $300 youl ever have to spend for the rest of your life on a trick pro 1v bigfoot. Seriously.
