Louder Than Bombs (for me) creates a dichotomy of feelings and sounds from dark and melancholy to uplifting and explosive. There was an episode of RUN BTS where the members had to guess which songs ARMY wanted to see performed live and Louder Than Bombs was at the top of the list. The members were really surprised by this but also said at that time that this song in particular would be really hard to perform live. I believe them but I also believe that when they finally do perform it live it will be amazing.

This song was co-written by Troy Sivan. The members haven’t ever performed this because they say it’s too high to sing live. But it’s a very loved song amongst ARMY. Plus the Geiger counter sounds are cleverly used. My take on the song is despite all the love that ARMY gives them (hence the bomb reference) they don’t feel that they deserve it & all their success doesn’t stop sadness & doubt.

@@BangPDsMom Things said in the flow of an individual V live must be assessed based on the date spoken, the context (For instance, was it a consideration in planning the MOTS tour or said during quarantine?), was he speaking as an individual member or for the entire group, and frankly how off the cuff he was being. I don't know but I will say I have seen ARMY develop factual mantras both by taking things said by members out of context and with giving things they said more seriousness than members intended. So, I will concede he made the statement, but I do not think I would find myself making it a definitive reason that the statement should be put in stone. To me it is just one of many things BTS members say that provide a chuckle or an insight as to what is on their minds in a given moment.

spotify storyline sums up this song best imo and its verified by bts. Spotify storyline: “Louder than bombs” tells the story of how sadness and fear grow as one encounters stories of pain around the world. The message that “we will continue to listen to your story and will never stop singing, so speak yourself” intensifies with the song's brisk yet grand atmosphere. like if someone is traveling the world theyre gonna see a lot of amazing things being a tourist but theres also gonna be a lot of bad things you see especially if youre tuned into the news everywhere you go. and the fact that armys and anyone in the world have their own struggles but many let go of it while attending a concert for momentary enjoyment. bts still see the pain behind our smiles once we leave the concerts its back to our realities and theyre saying they also experience that too that while theyre these superstars its not all glitz and glamour they too deal with things once they leave concerts. "once i knew that expression wasnt that expression" "once i knew that smile on your face isnt constant or isnt always there youre putting on that smile while here but when you leave do you still wear that smile" thats what makes this song so powerful for me cause how often do we hangout with family, friends or go to public events and take a break from reality only to have to continue once we leave.

BTS said the song was too hard to perform live that's why they didn't perform it yet. I love the haunting feel for it, it's dark but emotional at the same time, yet also kinda sexy and goosebumps-y. The vocals are very high and hard to sing, ive rarely seen men sing in that range of falsettos before. It's crazy how all 4 of the BTS vocalist's high range is soo well developed, even for the one baritone, his falsettos is as smooth as the others. I usually don't like the sound of male singers singing in falsettos, but with BTS it almost sounds a bit feminine and more powerful and i like it.

@@Selush my bet is on the voice effects it has all over the place to add up to that haunting/eerie atmosphere. Performing the song trying to keep that as is would have to use lots of backing vocals or live effects (which can be flakey) and a new arrangement would create basically a different song, and perhaps it won't give out the same feelings

11:12 i believe it was jin' high notes 1. troye sivan co-wrote this song 2.namjoon got the idea for this song from a sad letters armys posted on weverse talking about their struggle and he (joon) thinks about their own emotions. he was thinking if he could embrace and take away all of our pains but he was just a person too. 3.namjoon said he cried several times while writing this, black swan and WAB: the eternal 4.namjoon said this song too hard to sing it live, he even feel bad for hobi bcs his part right after namjoon's (too low for hobi' voice) 5.bighit made a survey about BTS songs, they used it for RUN BTS ep 144. this song came as #1 army wants to hear live, and out of all the survey questions this song had the biggest point. the members was SHOCKED sorry english not my first language and thankyou💜💜

Contrary to what people are saying, BTS never said this song was "too hard" to perform live. In response to an ARMY saying they should perform it live in a recent vlive RM said, and I quote, "That song is hard, girl!" ...he never said 'too' hard or that they wouldn't perform it. 🤷‍♀️ There is no way they've forgotten it either because in a Run BTS episode it was revealed to the members that in a world wide ARMY survey, Louder Than Bombs was *the* #1 song most desired for a live performance. My theory is that it is a mix of how challenging the song is vocally and the vibe of the song not meshing well with the overall atmosphere of the PTD concerts.

I really love this song. They have a lot of songs that comfort you when you’re down and say, “hey it will get better”. This one is great because a it’s also for those times when you just need someone to cry with you. When the lyrics change from “louder than bombs I say” to “louder than bombs I sing” it feels like they just want to let out all the pain with us. Also RM said he was inspired to write it as a response to Army’s messages on Weverse when they are going through hard times.

Thank you for another natural and authentic reaction. Thank you for always appreciating details in the production and vocal layering. I like this song very much. Yes, it is the only song from Map of the Soul 7 that they haven't perform. Accdg to RM in his VLive in Vegas, that song is hard so the members should practice hard. Personally, I believe he said its hard not because it is high but because it is too low. RM said (I think in one of his Vlive) sorry to JHope because his part came before JHope's part. Since his part is low JHope has to sing within the same range. For me, I believe there will be no problem with the vocal line because its within their range. In fact Jimin sang a part of the chorus during a Run Bts episode. During JK's Birthday Weverse Live, he sang his first verse but he stopped because he forgot the other parts. Someday I am still hoping they will all sing it live on stage.

Okay, so this is just my personal take on the lyrics and overall feel of this song. I don't know if there is an actual further official explanation for the meaning behind it. I believe that this song represents the dichotomy and at the same time symbiosis that marks the relationship between a celebrity and their fans. In this case, it is customised to the experience of BTS and Army, not only for the reference of bombs, as in "Army bombs" (the fans' lightsticks) and overall military reference, but also for the highly sympathetic relationship that characterizes this fandom with the band. The symbiotic aspect of this relationship is expressed in the way they constantly remind us in the lyrics that when they see us they feel our pain, they relate with us in the way we struggle through life, facing numerous difficulties as we continue to grow (as people, as a fandom, and as popular artists). Their music has always been an escape from the real world for us. Whether we find comfort in the more poppy and happy tracks or like to indulge in the melancholic, existentialist and more personal tracks, it is nevertheless a form of escapism for us. And they are well aware of it. Might be due to their marketing team telling them the data they acquired through listenership and fans reviews, or as I like to believe, it could also be due to the usually highly empathetic nature of artists. This is where the symbiotic relationship develops and flourishes. We give them love and support and aid them through the hardships of being artists trying to make it in the industry and progressively switching our attempts to almost protect them from the crashing wave of stardom and mass exposure. If they break, we break with them, if they want to spread a message, we act as their amplifier, almost as waves of an explosion. The dichotomy expressed in this song is not adverse to everything that I have explained above, is rather inherent to it if anything. They are celebrities and with that their personal experiences with stardom are completely different if you were to compare them to our struggles as people living in anonymity. If we break and crash, our struggles are at least hidden from the whole world. If they break, they crash as loud as bombs due to their exposure. Anything they say is loud, forever recorded and open to the judgement of basically everybody. We as fans feel like we know them so deeply, but our ideas of them are just what we processed through the images they (and their agency) want to show us or the few times specs of their privacy slip off their personas. Understandably, they feel alienated from the rest of the world that keeps putting them on a pedestal both under the brightest light and its scrutinizing gaze, and they seek that alienation to heal their egos and find back the roots of their more nuanced selves. This song is a track on the "Map of the Soul: 7" album, the second and last of the two albums series that is deeply inspired by the book "Jung's Map of the Soul: An Introduction" by Murray Stein. This album is a lengthy piece that includes three psychoanalytical concepts of Carl Jung's work: Persona, Shadow and Ego, with references to the inner child, anima/animus and other topics from Jungian psychoanalysis. This song is in the section that we would describe as the "Shadow", their innermost fears and shameful aspects related to their status of celebrity that they are too scared to share with us and the rest of the world. The fact that they were never able to perform it live, makes it all more romantic in my opinion, as it accentuates the hindrance between us and them that we often forget is actually there.

The phrase 'Louder than Bombs' is a reference to how loud the negativity inside your head can get sometimes. Taking that on a more heartbreaking level, BTS is saying that the negativity inside themselves can be louder than their fans love; the cheers behind the Bombs at their concerts & everywhere else is not enough to stop it from overwhelming them sometimes.

One of my favorite songs too - speaks to the sadness and pain that we all experience over the course of our lifetime and the masks we wear in front of other people on a daily basis. It’s like when someone asks how you are and our automatic response is fine, I’m fine when you aren’t fine at all. As I get older I find myself asking if they really want to know or are just being polite. I think the message is that they are human too and suffer the same insecurities and doubt that we do, but they have chosen this job and their message of self love and they will continue to sing and be a support system for their fans. RM said it was written for the fans - it’s very somber - but it resonates with us because they are real with us about their own feelings. Perhaps it is too somber to perform live.

I saw you were suprised that RM said it is hard to do live. I wasn't really suprised when RM said his reasons when army asked on one of his live. Like its look like this in final product, but proces of making it may be really hard, or at last it is how he see it. We also have to remeber that they are all perfectionist, like they don't feel good if they don't do the best work on stage, and if they were thinking that this song might not come out like they would hoped, then nothing weird that they leave it. I understand you may think it dosen't sems that hard. But from what RM said it is more about begin true to the song, it would be hard to be fair to this song. So he said that it was hard to record, Hobi had problem, and vocal line had to be all the time in their higher range, it was hard, a lot of time, He said they would have to train long to sing it live, He said he will thing about it (bc ARMYs really wanted to see this live), maybe someday. There is a few examles of songs being hard that you/we wouldn't think it was that hard examples: Stay alive, Suga said JK had hard times with one part that he was worried and even asked if he should change key but JK said he will try, they recored it but it was hard time. Friends Jimin said that V couldn't hit note in song that he almost lost voice from so many times he try to, JM tell him to go lower but V practised and come to record again and in the end hhe did it. Live he is singing lover, etc. There are few older songs like that too V mostly had problem bc he had to sing lower then his natural was. You can see it the best in Boy in love when you watch live from when the song come out and the most recent performance, and it isn't about experience and technice, I mean it is bc he isn't hurting himself but choose to stay in placement were he is good and comfortable, you can see he was pushing it ealier but they wanted him to sing really low. RM also said about few songs that were not in his range and he had so hard time to record. There was also Fire, there were problem with recording with background vocals, gang vocals, etc, were there was part that they all had to sing, background "fire" Yoongi voice was so stanting out that after many attempts they simply recorded only Suga voice. There are stories like that, our boys talk about it. Also about this song it is somber, it is hard no to be with this theme and reson behind it, RM said he was really woried bc all the letters and things that Army write to them, that so many of it is sad, people write that they save theirs live etc, He said that it is scary how low people are feeling sometimes, this is why in his verse he has line "don't give up your live".... And that inspired this song. There were a lot Jimin if you focus and maybe have a little louder, at the end when you asked who it was it was Jimin. But before was JK and next was Jin, soo....

This song is a Map of the Soul 7 song. It was released to the public a month before the Covid quarantine. It never had a chance to be performed during the normal album promotion period. BTS's return to live performances was the Permission to Dance sets of concerts which were, save a couple Be songs, intended to feature full group standards for ARMY, not introduce never been performed before B sides. PTD was meant to be a reconnection set of concerts with not even one individual member work. I am unclear why commenters below are telling you BTS said Louder Than Bombs was too hard to perform. Part of me thinks the song would have been too difficult to incorporate into the Permission to Dance concert concept. BTS, barring media censorship as did occur preventing Run BTS from having a comeback, is fully capable of performing their own songs. If they can perform Blue and Gray during PTD, I see no reason Louder than Bombs can't be performed when they deem it appropriate.

yeah, the whole "too hard" thing is a weird interpretation of RM's words on Run. If they can perform Life Goes On, House of Cards, etc etc, there's no reason this would be too difficult. @@ericweinman9447 ok, too funny. I thought you were talking about the show Run! BTS. Not the song Run BTS. I thought there was some censorship interfering with airing new episodes. 😜😜😜 Obviously a late night for me. 😅

It pretty easy to mix up sometimes especially where they do the chorus on the background definitely Jimin in the background mixing with JK. I love the high notes part with the mix of Jimin's voice so much.

Every time it comes up they say it’s a hard song to perform haha jk even tried recently and forgot the lyrics 😭🤣 I’m not sure if it’s hard bc of how high it is or if it’s hard emotionally. Who knows. Maybe one day we will find out

The adlibs i think is half jin and half jimin I think. Jk don't even know the song and RM said only that the song is too hard. I personally think that if they can sing your eyes tell and film out live, they can for sure sing this.

@@AmariLeone yes. I personally had my mind blown away by the live version of your eyes tell. Hey, have you ever check sea from bts? Is a really hidden track. One of my favorites. I think is really different. 👀
