    This is great, thank you!! My art club makes cards to sell at their annual member exhibit, and each member is supposed to make at least 5 cards for sale. The cards don't have to actually be hand-painted but should be at least somewhat "handmade", and this seems a great solution to me. (I'm still better at Procreate watercolor than with real paints LOL.) Looking forward to the next in the series - thank you as always for your great ideas and presentation!

    You are always amazing in the tips that you share with us. Your tips are useful and so easy to get beautiful results! I never even thought to try to use watercolor paper in my printer and the technique that you use for test prints - genius. One thing that I have a question about. I noticed that when you compared the print result to your Procreate drawing, the watercolor paper had a hint of creamy color compared to the white background in Procreate. Have you ever adjusted the background color in Procreate so that the colors used in the drawing change a little based on the background? Also one thing that I do for the left panel of the card is to put my logo on the center bottom that has the words hand made. I actually made a stamp brush so that I can do it easily. As always Teela, thank you so much for all the work you do in creating these videos.

  • @EveryTuesday

    @EveryTuesday

    Thanks so much for checking it out! You won't want to put a background color, otherwise the colors will blend with it and that would require you to print that color (unless you're using it to build your color palette at the beginning). It's always better to adjust the colors based on your test print(s) 👍

    I tried printing line art on cold-pressed watercolor paper, with the intention of coloring it in with watercolor paint. I used a laserprinter which uses waterproof toner. I found that the toner didn't stick very well to the paper. Perhaps when I use hot-pressed it'll work better. Thanks for the demonstration!

  • @EveryTuesday

    @EveryTuesday

    9 ай бұрын

    I would recommend not using a laser printer - you’re essentially burning plastic (toner) onto the paper. A nice workaround would be printing with inkjet then going over the outlines with a fine tip black posca. You’d get that hand drawn from scratch aesthetic + keep the outlines (if that’s the goal)

  • @PaulaBean

    @PaulaBean

    @@EveryTuesday Yeah, but is the ink that an inkjet printer puts out, water-resistant?

  • @EveryTuesday

    @EveryTuesday

    9 ай бұрын

    Sure - a jpg is a destructive file type, meaning it throws away some file information in order to optimize the size of the file, whereas tiffs and psds do not, so you get a larger file, but the best *quality* file for printing when using them 👍

    Great Series Teela Thank you! My concern with using my home printer to print cards is that if they accidentally get wet (and not in purpose as you’ve done in this video)the ink smudges or lifts off the card! Ive made beautiful printed cards in the past, added glitter, and then when I’ve come to blow the excess glitter off, managed to ruin it because the ink has smudged from my breath! (Sounds a bit icky sorry! ) I have found pearlised card better for the colour not lifting, but I wondered, do you have any other paper recommendations for colour safe home printed greetings cards?

  • @EveryTuesday

    @EveryTuesday

    8 ай бұрын

    Thanks for watching! Have you considered cellophane sleeves to protect the card? When I used to sell them, that’s how I’d pack them up to keep them safe from the elements. I also use double sided matte photo paper often for printing - you could also apply spray fixative if you’d like
