Processing over 6,000 pounds of honey in less than 8 hours

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

www.studiobeeproductions.com
It's that time again, honey processing time that is, and this crop of honey was the biggest that I have ever done. Of course, I could never do it on my own, and this time we had lots of help from some really great folks. You already knew that Good Time Charlie would bee there, he's been there working with me all year long, and his wife Patrica. World famous Mike Barry got there early and left late, you need to go check out his KZread channel, Mike Barry Bees, great stuff. My buddy from the Arkansas Adventures, and co worker from the Post Office days, Chef Randy Smith. Wreck it Ralph showed up in the afternoon to relieve Scott and Heather, who worked tirelessly but had to go home and feed the cat. Then there was Preston Chatham, who's dad also worked with me at the Post Office and I have known since he was born. By the way, some of the video I used in this video was shot by Preston. It's very easy to know which video he shot, it's the really good stuff.
So how much honey did we get? Well over 500 gallons, and that's being conservative. God has blessed us abundantly........again. God's peace to all. Mr. Ed

We only ran six or so hives on the ranch, but I can't think of a higher calling than to be a conscientious bee wrangler. Those wee guys/gals sure do work and produce a most righteous product. As a younker, we always had a comb of honey on the table and never had a problem with allergies. Years later I went back during baling season and darned near died from 'hay fever'. Never knew I had it when I had a daily dose of our clover honey. Without it for years, I paid a high price. I'm not a religious man, but what you compassionate professional bee keepers do makes me rather contrite when I think of how many of us mere mortals take the pollinators for granted. Thanks for what you all do.

This takes me back to when I was a kid! My granddad kept honey bees, part as a hobby and part for his apple trees, berries and other things in his vegetable garden. When it was time to harvest the honey, it like this video, was all hands on deck. I was always so proud to see his label on the jars in local grocery stores. He also seeded his very large lawn with white clover. It only took me one time to learn not to run through the grass bare-footed😎 Thanks for such a great video. People need to understand why honey costs a bit of cash and the work it takes to keep healthy hives and harvest the honey.

With as many bees as there must be at the Abbey from all the hive removal that has been done, you really can't say its a small-time operation. There are beekeepers all across the country that would be truly envious of the number of bees you have, especially given recent events with do many honeybees dying off.

I love cutouts, but honey processing is my favorite! I never get tired of watching. I’m so happy you added the back porch feeding frenzy, it’s always the perfect ending. Once again I am overwhelmed by these small creations of the Lord. They give us so much, and they only ask for fresh flowers, and enough nectar, pollen, and honey to keep them going. I hope your videos encourage people to not be afraid of these creatures, and the importance of maintaining a healthy variety of blooming trees, bushes, plants, etc...so that we keep honey bee colonies strong and thriving. Without bees our own food cycle would collapse. They are critical to our continued survival. I know I’m “preaching to the choir,” but it is channels like yours, dirt rooster, and JP that help to educate, and as a former educator myself, I can’t help but start to pontificate on the subject. 😊 What a wonderful harvest! God bless you all! 🐝🐝🐝

You sure make beekeeping look fun! It is obvious that it is also a lot of work. But your attitude and enthusiasm for the bees and the honey are contagious! I am hoping to start with a hive or two this year. I need to take a few classes and learn the basics first. Fortunately, there is a gentleman in my area who teaches beekeeping, and he has the same positive attitude that you do. So, it should be fun, hard work. But the bees work harder! :-)

Great harvest Jeff. Love watching. Wish I could have helped. Is there a special way you store the frames that had brood? I thought leaving them out in the open with light on them was all that was necessary to discourage moths. Thanks.

The frames that have brood on them are stored inside of the honey house. I think that even if they were exposed to light, moths would still get into them, but inside the honey house they do perfect. I'm getting ready to make the video showing what I do with all the honey supers, stay tuned for that. God's peace Joe. Mr. Ed

Jeff, I used to go to an abby in Kentucky when I lived up there and when I retire in 4 years, I would like to move back to Livingston parish. If I do because of the way you are so happy all the time, I'd like to volunteer then. I also want to bless you and your mother, who you shared her birthday earlier this year. I pray that our heavenly father will bless you both, Amen
