You're so much better than my Statics teacher. He wants us to study on our own and all he does every lecture is to solve the problems that we weren't able to solve while we were self studying. He does not even show the steps on how to solve a statics problem. He just solves it on the board. I rate you 9/10.

lol better than mine. I'm taking it online, the worst designed online class I have ever taken and he will not respond to my emails asking for help. He just gave us problem sets and the answers and our grade is just a midterm and a final. The "book" was written by him and the answer key gives wrong answers sometimes in the wrong units, worst class I've ever taken.

Clear and concise. Thanks, Mark French and Purdue. This video and video series is a service to education and a credit to Purdue University. Thumbs up.

I actually enjoy my statics class but it just feels like a flood of information that we don't get much time to practice. Sometimes it just feels like plugging numbers into a formula rather than understanding what is actually happening.

Exactly how I feel right now. Physics II (Electricity and Magnetism) isn't so bad, just a bit more conceptual than Physics I ( Mechanics), same with Calculus III, and Differential Equations. This class is just something else...

Sorry for the long delay. I had the same experience in college as well. Sometimes I felt like I was just learning to pass tests. I do a lot better when I can figure out the big idea behind what I'm learning and then figure out the process for solving problems. In statics, the big ideas are that the structure can't move (static) and is rigid (no deformation). After that, the next step is the solution process I show here. BTW, it's absolutely OK to (politely) ask a professor to explain the big idea. Any professor should be happy and able to answer that question. It might take a couple tries to get an answer that you really understand, but that's OK. It might take a conversation in the professor's office, but any professor should be happy to have an interested and engaged student.

Oof, my Physics 1 course is basically a physics, statics, and waves class. I've taken another college physics courses and they're like... really easy stuff compared to what I do at this university. our lectures are my professor just giving us formulas and us figuring out proofs for them, deriving more formulas, and applying multivar on tests.... too much stuff. Thanks for uploading these videos, I've seen them all, if it weren't for you, I would have definitely failed some tests this semester.

I hated statics....strange problems and stranger solutions... I could never solve a set of problems with a method or procedure from chapter to chapter. I got out of statics and find out in my later courses they simplified it to beams and finite element analysis which is much easier.
