PROBLEMS AT INVERNESS: Things go wrong after a visit to Glencoe, Fort William and Loch Ness.

This day trip involved three buses - Glasgow to Fort William via Glencoe, Fort William to Inverness via Loch Ness (I looked for the monster) and Inverness to Glasgow. What happens when Covid-19 travel restrictions change overnight? Problems occur.

Inverness, my home town. Place was very quiet looking. It's normally rammed with tourists. 😩 There used to be a Railway line from Spean bridge all the way to Fort Augustus . Then on to the paddle steamer for Inverness. Line closed in the 1950s. There had been plans to run the line to Inverness with a tunnel under Inverness castle

I did a trip with Discover Scotland only a few days ago from Edinburgh to Glenfinnan, Loch Shiel and Fort William , the scenery was simply astounding. The mountains were still snowcapped whilst the Loch was a smooth as a mill pond . Its a beautiful memory that my daughter and I will treasure for always, I would recommend everyone do this journey , you won't be disappointed.

Wow! Ive never seen the 915 citylink so quiet. The route up the A82 is beautiful. Ive not been beyond Glencoe on the bus but got train from Fort William back to Motherwell after my West Highland way. That is also a beautiful train ride. especially the section that mirrors the A82 along Loch Lomond.

Last time in Inverness took the bus to Edinburgh as no trains were running due to strike action by Scotrail on a Sunday. Driver concerned WOULD NOT let me off at the Queensferry Street west end bus stop and insisted on taking me all the way to the Edinburgh bus station despite the stopping pattern being advertised. Will not be using Edinburgh Coach Lines again who operated this service. Shocking way to behave.

Re: Caledonian Sleeper. A lot of folk don't know this but if you miss the lowland sleeper from central, head over to queen st low level and get onto the Highland sleeper portion from Fort William. The Highland sleeper doesn't always run via Queen St LL so check....it's also useful in the opposite direction as you can get to Glasgow 2hrs earlier than the lowland sleeper.

I live on the North East coast of England (South Shields) and used to often drive up to Musselburgh for a day out but with the Anti English feeling stirred up by Nicola we don't bother now. I served in the Royal Marines and had many Scots mates, what would they make of it all. Sorry for digressing, as I said and excellent video, look forward to more.

If you are referring to the service from Inverness and South to Glasgow when Scott was advised the bus would be full from Aviemore, that WOULD be correct. I worked in Aviemore a few years ago and all year round, Aviemore is busy with tourist traffic, especially with people who catch the early morning services from the rest of Scotland, and spend the afternoon in the area then catch this particular service which starts at Inverness, then stops at Aviemore, Pitlochry, Perth then Glasgow. Note, it is the LAST service out of Inverness going south and because it's invariably pre-booked passengers only, the driver will know of loadings en-route and whether there'll be spare seats available from Inverness or not!

Inverness is a weird one. Feels like it's in the arse crack of nowhere and is just about impossible to get to no matter how you do it, but once you're there, it feels pretty lively and has everything you need. Albeit a bubble it definitely comes across as a functioning city and not just some cutesy tourist backwater. Few places I know in England like that too.
