3 Day Scotland Highlands Road Trip! Inc. Fort William, Glencoe, Loch Ness
SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS | Over 3 days we road trip around the scenic Scottish Highlands, visiting iconic places like Loch Ness, Fort William and the Glenfinnan Viaduct. We absolutely fell in love with the landscape of the highlands and we 100% want to go back! Hopefully next time we'll have less rain. 😅

We're going on the steam train again too ( went on it ten years ago with our two children but the weather was crap that day so hoping for better next year ). We were recently at Glenfinnan Viaduct and got a spectacular view of The Jacobite! Our tips would be to view it on its way to Mallaig, arrive no later than 15 minutes after it departs Fort William, and claim a spot up the hill behind the viaduct. There were easily 100 people there, so the earlier you arrive, the more likely you'll get an unimpeded view.

It's such a shame you never got the weather at Glen Coe. I was there over the weekend end and the sun was blazing over the 3 sisters, and as a born and bred Scotsman, I'm ashamed to admit, this was my first time seeing it, and it's only 2 hours from me. But oh my, when you see photos of it, nothing prepares you to seeing it with your own eyes. It almost looks unnaturally beautiful. Like artificial. Incredible place. Hopefully if you guys get back, the sunshine's bright for you. Great video.

Glencoe place in history is infamous for the massacre that happened in 1692, when the Members of the McDonald clan were murdered by members of clan Campbell under instructions of the English crown. That historical event adds a strange eerie feeling to Glencoe on a misty overcast day, you can almost feel the presence of those that died, fascinating place to visit.

@@cjexplores Listen to the song massacre of Glencoe by the corries, words to the song. Ballad of Glencoe Chorus Oh, cruel was the snow that sweeps Glencoe And covers the grave o' Donald. Oh, cruel was the foe that raped Glencoe And murdered the house of MacDonald They came in a blizzard, we offered them heat, A roof for their heads, dry shoes for their feet. We wined them and dined them, they ate of our meat And they slept in the house of MacDonald. Chorus They came from Fort William with murder in mind. The Campbell had orders King William had signed. "Put all to the sword"- these words underlined, "And leave none alive called MacDonald." Chorus They came in the night when the men were asleep, This band of Argyles, through snow soft and deep, Like murdering foxes amongst helpless sheep, They slaughtered the house of MacDonald. Chorus Some died in their beds at the hand of the foe; Some fled in the night and were lost in the snow; Some lived to accuse him who struck the first blow; But gone was the house of MacDonald. Visit Scotland but make sure you have spare tyres. I spent 8 hours in cold & rainy weather near Inverness off A9 and recovery service(RAC) couldn’t find any near by recovery vehicle to Newtonmore. With 2 kids , i couldn’t wait any longer than 8 30 pm & found a hotel in Newtonmore Road. Local garages said, I had to visit Perth which is 70 miles away to get new tyres. Great video! I am heading to Scotland for holiday soon and will be bringing the DJI Mini 3 Pro also! I am really concerned about the drone crash portion of this video, was wondering if you could elaborate a little more about how it happened? Were you doing active track or manual flying? Was it the wind that made the drone move side ways?
@cjexplores
Жыл бұрын
Hi Malcolm, thanks for your message! The drone crashed during active track. Obviously there are no sideways sensors and when the drone tracks a moving object it tries to get behind it. When we turned the corner the drone quickly strafed to the right and hit the trees. If I knew then what I know now I would have immediately paused the drone when it started to move right. Or probably just not use the active track when there are obstacles to the sides!

Sorry to correct you by you keep saying Lock instead of Loch. You do not pronounce Loch the same way that you pronounce a padlock 🔒. It is a Loch, the -ch is pronounced from the back of the throat making a -ch sound. You can look up Scottish pronunciation of this word online to to help you. Lock and Loch are not the same word.

We could have attempted to pronounce this properly but I think we would have done more harm than good to Scottish culture 😅 happy to read your input though 🙏🏼

I mean frankly, bore off you pedant. She has an accent, she doesn’t need to sound like she’s trying to imitate the Scottish accent. If someone with an English accent tries to pronounce Loch as you say, it sounds like they’re taking the piss.

Do you reckon when you go overseas Fludded that you can pronounce places like the locals do, i think not so no need to complain when folks come to our Country.
