Problem Solved! (Making The Allotment Look Nice)

It's nice and sunny at the Feel Good Garden allotments and plenty of planting out to do. Off to the allotments via a pretty lane with spring flowers adorning the sides. Here is a little peek of the flowers growing not only at the allotment but also at home in the garden. Everywhere is blooming and summer is on its way!
Time to plant out the runner beans that I sowed in the polytunnel and nasturtiums from Danny@TheGrowUpChannel.
I was hoping to plant out Sunflowers 🌻 by the archway bean frame but plot neighbour Cheryl warned me not to as it could stunt the runner beans growth. Not to be beaten I come up with an interesting solution.
My sunflower 🌻 grow along/challenge is a fun one to take part in. Its going to be for the tallest sunflower 🌻 and also for the sunflower 🌻 with the widest head.
I have a birthday treat to myself and really pleased with how the allotment looks afterwards! ☺
I'm hoping the Karlsten Slug and Snail oregano pellets with keep these pests at bay.
The allotment men have been helping Jonny repair Emma and Jonny's polytunnel by putting on a new cover.
Bindweed is coming up amongst my newly sown flowerbed and the rhubarb isn't looking very healthy. I dig over the bed and put some manure pellets and compost around it.
The Raab Broccoli looked pretty when it flowered but all gone to seed now so it's time to pull it all out. I save the seeds to grow on the allotment next year.
I prepare weed and loosen the soil in this bed ready to plant out. I plant an outdoor variety blight resistant tomato from Jonny, basil and Marigolds from the supermarket, spring onions and Lollo Rosso lettuce from our polytunnel.
It all has a goid watering followed by more oregano slug and snail 🐌 pellets so I'm hoping this will deter them.
Thank you for watching, liking my video and subscribing. I really do appreciate it.
Love from Linda ❤

I am joining in Linda, i am also doing the same with the The Jacobson Family Allotment Adventure, as well as our own site, so i have 3 sunflowers on the go. The sunflowers look really good on the archway. You may find that the bunting might frighten off the small bords when they come to the feeders, but it does look nice. I had Crimson Crush and Crimson Blush last year, they were really nice and that was the first time i had actually grown tomatoes outside. Love seeing marigolds etc just adding colour around a plot. Great video Linda.

I sowed some sunflower seeds yesterday, so maybe I’ll join your challenge, Linda! I didn’t start them early, just chucked the seeds in direct, but I had some lovely sunflowers last year. Though…. Now I’m wondering if that’s why my beans didn’t do very well, because I had them planted by each other. So I’ve learned something from your video! Thank you for sharing that information. Great video Linda! Always love the tops you wear! Loving the double can watering action there! Very efficient! I wonder if you can bulk buy the slug pellets? The faux sunflowers and bunting look gorgeous Linda! It really brings a bit of vertical colour and highlights that beautiful trellis! Are the seeds mature enough to pull out when they are still green? I am saving my dwarf curled green kale seeds for the the first time. Not sure why they call it dwarf as it is about 6ft now!? I normally wait until the pods start to go yellow on the other brassicas. I have planted the new kale already next to them and thought i might use them as stakes when the pods are ready and just strip them down. If i can strip them now then i can get some mesh on the runner beans, etc as some of the kale flowers have aphids and was leaving them for the lady birds. So lovely of you to help out your friends Johnny and Emma, as well as Danny on his new plot. You are such a kind soul! I don't really have any friends or family who is into gardening as much as i am. I give spare plants away and have been advising our new next door neighbour on their new beds, garden planning, etc but it isn't the same so i love watching people who have similar interests. @@Feelgoodgardens I love oregano and garlic! Wondering if i have a bit of Roman in me and want my Dad to do a DNA test as i got a block on family history research on his mums side and pretty sure my grandad said that there were Italians on her side. I mean her name was Olive! and would be the only interesting thing on our family tree? Did you ever delve into family history research? Yes, i am getting into bulk buying stuff now things aren't available in supermarkets anymore. I had the same reaction with hubby when we planted fuchsias in the new hanging baskets in the garden and pots in the back! It must be an internal kinda joy but joy at least! Bless 'em! I am itching to pull the kale out but they have really big pods now. I have French dwarf, tender green beans growing in front so have a bit of time still. Sugar snaps are behind the runner beans so hoping for the shade soon. Totally get needing the bed space. I am hoping these kale seeds will fair well for a few years but yes you sometimes have to do what is best for your own garden and growing situation. It was more of a question as it is the first time saving kale seeds this time as they do take up a lot of room compared to turnips, radishes, spinach, pak choi, etc, in terms of letting it go to seed. Also glad that the aphids are on this and not on the beans, etc. Will be doing mission impossible to remove the pod stems into a tub so the insects don't fall into the bed, when i take them down! lol (cue music) The leaves are dying off now so might give them a week of what we used to call sun and will take them down. We don't have much growing space in the garden so grow things on the edge of being "tight" lol Lovely to get some pea pods now though to eat! I did try selling some donations at the the school fair fund but it didn't go as planned. I have very bad social anxiety so a friend who was on a stall said they would put them near the stall. They aren't "garden minded" as their hubby so a lot of them got damaged. I helped out at the start setting it up as i was their to watch our child sing in the school choir. It got to me that the plants where out in the wind, next to a kids play area. Then everyone that was still left at the end took the plants home for free and didn't donate. 2ft flowering organic tomatoes for £1.50 for the school. I have done less this year and was worried about my spares going to waste. I think i have someone else who is interested in them and other plants, other than the neighbours. With my dyslexia and anxiety i do find it hard to reach out to new people and find it kinda awkward nowadays. I am very chilled and take people as i find them and i used to run courses when i was an IT Specialist, working in C London. Things change. Terrorist attacks, pregnancy on public transport, cancer treatment, mysogny, breavement and you get 5 mins at 7.30pm to do bedtime with your child. I took the redundancy and many other left due to my treatment, compared to other cis males in the dept, especially when it came to wfh. Not what i was expecting leaving care with childhood PTSD and a degree i worked through but here we are. Just getting over my long covid cancer scare but still love gardening. It's my therapy as showing me a website by a Dr doesn't and isn't helping. Love doing DIY and gardening. We renovated our house and garden from scratch and 5 layers of wallpaper on the walls and ceiling of this ex council house. The kids love learning about the wormery we have in the crate system on play dates, when we have them. I suffer with asthma and sinus problems from living in polluted block of flats in London. At the end of the day, i just do what i can do. Teach, to those who will listen, without script. Like my old manuals i used to write. I classed as monkey see, monkey do. Like i would write them as a dyslexic person and assume no level of knowledge but not insult person reading it, from whatever level. From cleaner to CEO is how i talk to people and trigger management. Anyway, i am rambling too much but since you are kindly sharing your life, it is only fair that we do the same, in this community, instead of us being randoms in the comments. I can always sense good people. You are doing a great Linda!
