@Terre Schill : I have worked as a PhD researcher for 20 years. I suffered from postviral syndrome 12 years ago for 2 years. Most doctors did not want to hear you because everything in healthcare nowadays is about financial efficiency. Medicine nowadays is not the medicine that was 30-40 years ago. Everything is by the book and procedures for legal issues. Not actually cognitive effort from the physicians. When it comes to your own health, you are the leader there.

Exactly. Yet, doctors THINK they are smarter than us, who are experiencing the illness. They insult me not believing me. We are the science behind the disease. We should be documented and able to study and note our affects daily through journal. No doctors in my area are trying to log data, but instead, insult the situation by not believing me. I'm blown away how uncaring, society is, government isn't helping us. It's as if they're down playing the illness like is was the common cold. I'm traumatized...I've lost everything. No one cares. I'm going to lose my home. Become homeless. Yet, its like people are waiting for me too fail, so they can accumulate my property out from under me. No one cares. My state government cheated me out of unemployment Federal PUA....leaving me without my emergency funds through pandemic. So, I thinking suicide will be my only choice left. Because no one cares or believes me. My car was repo'd last year. I have no way to care for myself. I'm in pain in my hands, feet, ears ache. Heart hurts.

One thing they don’t talk about is if there is a viral load that persists in the tissues , if it’s not eliminated we are at risk of developing long term chronic autoimmune and neuro diseases like MS Lupus Parkinsons and etc. we need #antivirals as soon as possible to clear the system of viral particles. It’s critical or there will be millions of chronic patients.

Some of the best fundamental research I have seen on long Covid. I think it is going to take a really long time however to understand the mechanisms and then come up with a cure. I think a better approach is to continue the fundamental work, but in parallel take somewhat of a shot gun approach and start testing drugs along the lines of controlling the cytokine or immune response. Most discoveries are found by accident or trial and error over a calculated solution. Please keep up the good work, it is going on 17 months for me and a solution can't come fast enough.

My heart started acting up after I had a bout of mild covid. My symptoms were I had major headache, I was dizzy, blurry eyesight, fever, light body aches, No cough. Then about 2 weeks later I felt better and felt I beat Covid. And about 3rd week my heart started skipping beats and felt like fluttering with a pound or heartbeat. It felt like it fluttered and the beat catches up. Now today my heart rhythm is not the same. I currently have a new heart beat. I also feel dizzy. I sometimes feel POTS when I get up from lying down. The ekg showed PVCs and Nonspecific ST and T Wave abnormalities. Nobody can give me answers as to why or what is happening. My Dr says should go away with time. I was vaccinated and boosted and sadly still I got covid a little over a month after I was boosted. I’m not the same today. I feel awful. Drs still doing test on my heart and really have no answers except they’re explaining that their seeing many new patients with heart irregularities now. And should go away with time. Sadly I’m scared and don’t feel the same with my new heartbeat. My family, sisters, parents, nieces, friends, so many friends, All were also vaccinated and some had covid multiple times. They had mild cold symptoms or flu symptoms but no heart problems. I’m the only one.

Try acupuncture or community acupuncture. I have long haul symptoms myself and also my immune system over-reacted to the vaccine. I developed bad vertigo right after the vaccine shot, exacerbating neuro-muscular and respiratory problems that arose after I got covid. I wasted /three months/ waiting on medical scheduling and got practitioners who did not understand. I went over to a community acupuncture place as I am fortunate to have this option in DC where I live, and, wow, what a huge difference and in a shorter span of time. My vertigo is almost resolved and the pain levels dramatically decreased, including the migraines. You have to see your doctor of course and get the /inflammation and swelling/ looked at -- and include chiropractor and physical therapy, too. But absolutely -- visit an acupuncture place. Insurance doesnt cover it but it is the BEST therapeutic treatment. Community acupuncture places charge reduced rates if you don't have insurance ($20-$40). Don't be put off regarding paying for the acupuncture or needles. Acupuncture doesn't really hurt -- it's alot less than the COVID aches, etc. I am so grateful at the difference acupuncture has bestowed. I plan to add massage soon. Also - one last thing -- look into a tens unit from Walmart or amazon. This small apparatus provides electrical stimulus to sore muscles and nerves and also provides pain relief. The price ranges but you can get a small and decent one for about $30. The type of meds neurology proposes are serious and have negative side effects in my view, so I am leery about these and turned down a prescription but you must do what is best for you. I wish the options offered less side effects

If it offers no relief after a few sessions, then try the real acupuncture

Long COVID and ME/CFS may be linked to Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). There are medications that can help many but not all people with MCAS. Try medication for MCAS to see if it helps, if there is no improvement after three weeks try another medication. First try H1 and H2 Antihistamine such as Zyrtec 10mg twice daily and Famogast 40mg once daily or split the tablet in half for twice daily. There are several other medications that can be tried in collaboration with your doctor.

I think the mechanism for long covid is very similar to ME/CFS. However different viruses affect people in different ways. It's rare for ME patients to have the lung problems that covid has. What is common with ME is gut problems, perhaps because many got sick from a gastroenteritis virus. Even after recovery from the acute phase, virus hides in our cells to escape the immune system. A cure is very unlikely as the drug would need to break into cells, kill the virus, then break out again, all without doing any harm. Many many years before science advances that much!!! A drug might come along which stops the condition worsening but reversing it is nigh impossible.

Yeh which is unfortunate. The cure is within us. Our mind and body can do incredible things however in the mean time there will be mass disability from this pandemic and no cure. Suicide rates will sky rocket and and a Great Depression will ensue. I had a concussion which was improving but this virus has ruined my life at 28. I have no hope of a future and will be in chronic pain for the rest of my life, the only saving grace is that I know I’m not alone in this journey. Millions will be there by my side fighting the good fight.
