Do you like the river fold (not being results oriented)? The interesting part of ranging the opponent is that flopped trips are not typically shoving into a river flushing card.

I have no problem with folding to the flop x/r...no problem with river fold. (agree that if you're calling the flop you're calling the turn). Where I don't agree is I think at this level 6x, especially A6, does jam here for pot (and yes, he can have T6, Q6 and 65 too)...(tbh, almost any 6x - hero doesn't have very many 6's) hoping to be called by an over pair...or even AQ/KQss. (or simply overvaluing the hand) - sure, hero could have some flushes or even boats, but there are more combos of AA/KK/Qxss...the other factor I've seen at this level is the guy with 6x may be thinking (right, wrong or indifferent) "I'm calling any bet anyway, so may as well bet" - that is, I'm being called and beat by, or calling and losing to, the same set of hands. So my decision is do I check and hope for a set of bluff combos...or do I bet and hope for a call from another set of combos (that otherwise wouldn't bet)...the latter might have the higher degree of frequency.

No problem with the fold. It’s a tough spot. If I had had a sense that the player would do this with any pair I might have called. But as narrated by the caller and the BB pre flop defend range flushes and trips are entirely possible.

Folding the flop seems terrible. Obviously if you are ahead then you don't want to fold. If you are behind you are going to stack him if you turn a K (1/23; giving V a 6, 46 cards left) so you are getting implied odds of about 15 to 1. You need to be really really REALLY sure you are behind. I'm just calling down here; villain's ranges are never that precise. There's always at least a smattering of random BS in there; it's close enough that that swings it to a call.

I don't mind it at all. In all my times at the casino, it's RARE to see someone at low limits ($1/$2, $1/$3, or $2/$5) bluff with a check raise in these spots. It would have to be a VERY good read on the player to call that river with the front door flush coming in and the opponent is not afraid.

In this situation, hats off to the villain for making a solid bluff, given the way the action came down preflop and postflop it looked very convincing he had one pair beat (either with a 6, boat or flush). More often than not, if a player check raises and then continues betting more money on later streets, he usually has it. This happened to be one of the rare nots. Sometimes that’s just poker.

Yeah, I don't like villain's flop play but given flop that I really like the turn and river. As for hero, I probably check flop just because that multiway OoP I am checking almost everything, but again given that bet I'm playing the rest of the hand the same way and don't feel particularly bad that villain got me that time. If you never get bluffed you call way too often.

it's not about that H is holding high pair. It's about WHO is holding High pair. Calling flop raise, then calling turn and folding to a river bluff does not seem thinking poker.

My first thoughts on the Flop would be: It is the BB who is last to act after everybody folds who C/Raises. And, Villain should likely do a whole lot of check/calling on this board texture ; - the raise thus feels slightly bluffy. As others already mentioned : Checking the Flop, OOP against the large field, avoids going broke with KK ; after our C-bet we are basically in calldown mode against the BB.

This jam makes no real sense from any hand besides boats. I agree that our bet call flop and call turn looks a lot like an overpair, so we end up with plenty of the best boats here. He's bluffing so much. Also, you seriously overestimate how much people at 2/5 are considering multi-way responsibility. I have seen virtually no change in play even from "solid" regs when it's 3-5 ways and when it's heads up. They still float out of position with all sorts of nonsense, they still raise one pair hands.

I think villain's raise here does look like 6x, but I agree I would definitely check the flop, and then would only C-bet the turn if it checked through on the flop. Allows us to get some more info, as well as be confident that our kings are good if it indeed checks through on the flop. If villain then decides to donk or x/r us on the turn, then perhaps we can then put him on the backdoor spades a bit easier and have a better chance to make it to showdown with the pot being sufficiently controlled on earlier streets.

@@danradke98275 Hey sorry yeah that was a typo. I meant the other three 78s combos missed. My point is the same one that Bart made and villain proved - that the BB range was pretty wide to get agro with on a wet/paired board. 98s could've c/r'd hoping to spike a gutter 7. He could've had Ah7x hoping hero folds, and if not to spike an Ace or a heart or a 4 or 8 on the turn. I don't think I'm saying anything crazy here. Paired boards are hard to play for a reason, but with stack sizes and as played, I could've found a call but a fold ain't horrible.

I'm always, always wary of calls/Holdings out BB/straddles? "They have gotten such good odds, with 2-3 calls in between..." V may complete with Any 2, especially "getting a discount"? V's bluff worked, but normally would trend towards "running into it"? IE "Queens full".. because we Will have all the Q full, not the BB (QQ is a bet 100 pre ,out of BB, especially with calls in the middle...) Is a 6s full of Qs possible from BB? Maybe.... I probably fold...either @ flop, or turn... Yeah, I'm a TAG/nit 😂🤣😂 This is 2-5, "no need to get wrecked @ low stales.." where anything can happen.. The Wrecked is metaphorical TBC.... There is a cool reminder, though? 1st to act has a (nominal) power unique to first? Tends not to "realize" well/ +EV @ higher stakes, though, FME.
