Yea I’m wondering how much of a difference the throw on my old coil machine will Compare to a rotary machine with a preset 4mm

  • @painfulpleasures

It will depend on how you've tuned the coil, you can physically measure the stroke on the coil to compare!

@@painfulpleasures and yes also I got a cnc q2 with a 3.5mm stroke but I look at the cartridge the needle only moves like 4-5mm so I just can’t wrap my head around how the cartridge moves up and down so fast because it doesn’t seem to have so much stroke because the carts have springs in them as well and it’s confusing as well as the quality of the needle carts like how do the get kinda held against the bottom of the tube or do the carts just not move ??? And what you recommend

Basically, the short stroke moves faster than the long stroke. If the needle bar is closer to the center of the wheel, it will move less than a needle bar that is further from the center.. It hits softer but faster 🥸

Actually no that’s not true at all. The speed at which it moves is actually determined by voltage and hertz as well. Just because it’s a shorter stroke doesn’t mean it’s faster.

@@Mac_Mixxedboth things are true. If the needle travels less distance then it will hit faster. Dummy

even tho the motor is rotating the same rpm, the longer stroke is moving from a-b faster/more velocity than the shorter stroke. it has more distance to cover in the same revolution. (this applys to rotary only)
