Pro-Palestinian Campus Encampments Spread Nationwide Amid Mass Arrests at Columbia, NYU & Yale
Support our work: www.democracynow.org/donate?c...
Palestinian solidarity protests and encampments are appearing on college campuses from Massachusetts to California to protest Israel's attacks on Gaza and to call for divestment from Israeli apartheid. This week, police have raided encampments and arrested students at Yale and New York University. Palestinian American scholar and New York University professor Helga Tawil-Souri describes forming a faculty buffer to protect students, negotiating with police, and the ensuing crackdown that led to over 100 arrests Monday night. Uptown in New York City, the encampment at Columbia University is entering its seventh day despite mass arrests of protesters last week. "In my opinion, the NYPD were called in under false pretenses by the president of the university," says Joseph Slaughter, professor at Columbia University. "The university is being run as a sort of ad-hocracy at this point, the senior administration making up policies and procedures and prohibitions on the fly, changing them in the middle of the night."

Palestine‘s Hamas government admitted to taking two years to plan out their attack on Israeli “civilians” and the Palestinian people admit israel’s defense force is worn them what areas would be bomb so they could get to safety, but Hamas told them not to leave and be “martyrs.” What kind of hateful lunatic or manipulated fool supports Palestinian Hamas and how their government stole their peoples donated water pipes to turn into rockets to launch against another nation at their civilians? Hamas says the weakness of Jews is their consideration of life, no it’s their strength. Those that stand with Hamas and islamic taqiyya lies will be held accountable. Slanderer, trespassing, and threats of terrorism support for child murders are not protected freedoms.

Here's what I tell them; We fight over there so people here don't have to experience the horrors these people mean to bring here. So our citizens do not experience what we do while deployed. And, what is happening now, on these Universities, is a slap in the face of our sacrifice. These woke, entitled, students, while my brothers are fighting, and sacrificing, have invited our nations enemies onto our soil. These students should take some classes instead of protesting over something that is trending. I think it’s scary that they are literally dressed like ISIS. My comment was in reference to history. I am extremely proud of the faculty of Columbia. It seems that a number of them have the courage of their convictions. I understand that the college president is in fear of losing her career. I really get that. However, listening to the first speaker, it appears that she has set herself or the school up for several lawsuits. The population of students does include children of wealthy families or professional families. I think there’s a probability that they will have the resources to file lawsuits against her and the school. I do feel sorry for the president of Columbia. It appears she reacted out of fear. The worst decisions I have personally ever made were based in fear.

Surely it's that OTHER Lord, or group of Lords doing this. Not mine. Not the ones of my house. Him, her, or they wouldn't do that, from up on their mountain of wealth where they speak truths about how vile and less than human your house actually is. As automation gets more refined, the jobs get scarcer and specialized work becomes less common, the peasants have to accept what they are given. Thus the middle class erodes away...

Thank you, faculty for supporting your students in their protests.
FYI: An Jewish student alleged in a lawsuit filed Monday that Columbia University is failing to provide a safe learning environment for students during the ongoing pro-Palestinian demonstrations. The lawsuit, which is seeking class action status, argues Columbia has “become a place that is too dangerous for Columbia’s Jewish students to receive the education they were promised.” According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff is seeking to “hold Columbia accountable for failing to provide a safe educational environment for its students.” Through a separate motion, the plaintiff is also seeking an emergency injunction aimed at requiring Columbia to enforce its Statement of Ethical Conduct and Administrative Code of Conduct to provide secure access to education. Columbia president Minouche Shafik acknowledged in a statement on Monday that many Jewish students and other students have “found the atmosphere intolerable in recent weeks.” “Many have left campus, and that is a tragedy. To those students and their families, I want to say to you clearly: You are a valued part of the Columbia community,” Shafik said. “This is your campus too. We are committed to making Columbia safe for everyone, and to ensuring that you feel welcome and valued.” The lawsuit alleges that a subset of protesters has committed acts of violence, harassed Jewish students and faculty and incited hate speech and acts of violence. “These extreme demonstrators are not engaging in constitutionally protected free speech. Instead, they are openly inciting violence against Jewish students,” the lawsuit said. In the lawsuit, the plaintiff argues the shift to hybrid at Columbia hurt her academic performance and “left her feeling excluded and marginalized from her educational university and her university more generally.” “Had Plaintiff known that Columbia would not provide a safe educational environment, she would not have chosen to enroll at or pay tuition to Columbia,” the lawsuit said
