    Thanks for the video GG. I have watched a lot of your content and have found it very useful. I wanted to ask. For questions like which LP do you resonate the most or what are your biggest strengths and in what capacity do you excel.; do we need to answer in S.T.A.R format story? Or an answer similar to the one in this video would suffice? Thanks!

    Hi GG! I was wondering how you would answer some questions related to work experience, or any question of the type "teel me something where you showed leadership, or great team working, etc..." if i don´t have work experience. I do organize a soccer tournament each year where over 200 people participate, and i have to do several tasks in order to do it. However, i don´t know if it is a strong enough kind of experience for a job interview. It is true that I am aplying to an internship so i guess they do not expect everyone to have working background, but in order to answer those type of questions i believe it is very useful to have some.

    They're not likely to ask you a question as vague as that. Even though you're an intern they're still looking for the specifics of the Leadership Principles. As far as Amazon is concerned there are 16 different ways of showing leadership and they are interested in the specifics of each. However, to the heart of your question- as an intern there is no issue with using non- work related examples for answering any of the questions you're asked. Good luck.

    Thanks for sharing your tips. I wonder if you can give some advice on my answer. I apply to roles that work with engineer and product teams, but the position doesn't require coding skills. When you ask what's my weakness, I say that I don't know about coding, but I am curious and started learning coding by myself. The point being, 1. the job doesn't need me to know to code, 2. I'm curious and bias for action. Is this answer sound reasonable to you? Does it sound like I'm not really answering my weakness?

  • @amazoninterviewwhizzdayone503

    @amazoninterviewwhizzdayone503

    That's not a relevant answer. It's not a weakness if it's not something you need to be able to do. It's an irrelevant absence of knowledge. If you need to be able to judge the quality of someone else's code that would be different.

    Thanks for sharing GG.Is it better to answer the weakness question (in your format) in a behavioral way (with a real case example) or just keep it short and answer only with an outline (without a real case example) ?

    Hi Vishal-I can only offer opinion here. I recommend keeping it short. This isn't really a question that should be used in evidence, as it's not really about the LPs (unless you make it so). If it were me I'd want to get onto the behavioral or technical part of the interview efficiently- as that's where the evidence that's used in debrief is gathered.

Most of the questions really require evidence that integrates the LP but how would you know if the question is not really about the LP and requires only a short answer? 2. For example if something is going wrong with some kind of process and you need to fix it. There's a tension between how long you spend talking to different people, investigating systems and tools, exploring all the possible options to solve it, consulting all the different people you could, testing the options etc and actually just picking an option and rolling it out to get some kind of fix on place.

    Can we say delegating tasks as a weakness? 1. Would having ownership of tasks assigned to you, versus trusting your team and delegating ( if we tie it back to ownership and earn trust) be a good example of a weakness?

    1. If an Amazon interviewer tells you, after answering a question - you did not understand the question, is this minus points? Even if you were able to answer properly in the end. 2. Does your answer need to be related to the job you're interviewing for? Or If you've done other roles in the past, can you share weakness from those instead? Thanks.

  • @amazoninterviewwhizzdayone503

    There's not a "points" system as such. If you got there in the end they might mention the blip in passing at debrief but I don't think it would be a major barrier. If you did it repeatedly, that's a different matter. Answers that are connected to the role are ideal but it's not a show stopper if they're not.

Even with a good work portfolio, would that help in the application or only how well you pass the interviews? 2. Just curious, at the end of the interview process, can we ask recruiter on why application was unsuccessful? Seen comments of people who interviewed 3x for various roles, might be good to know why. Weakness Question: What do you think of this answer: " I was overly self-critical. Sometimes I beat myself up over small mistakes. Whatever I did, I found nagging flaws. I was never satisfied with achievements even when my results were positive. Then I learned that perfectionism in its positive form can help us be more successful. We just need to know when and where to draw the line. I’m a perfectionist, but I won’t let that get in the way of delivering results in a timely fashion. I'm still very self-critical, but only in a positive way. It helps me reach my goals, become a better version of myself. "
