    Matt you should do a video just for fun where you do a tier list of the plays or highlights you’ve had during your years as a pro. It’ll be fun and educational as you can explain your thought processes and movements in each play and why you think each decision taken was good

    Love to hear your thoughts on - grip socks - compression shorts & socks - smaller v larger shin pads

  • @luk303

    @luk303

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Ian, even though I am not Matt, I wanted to share some information on compression shorts with you: compression wear in general provide some great advantages. That is why almost all professionals wear them (atleast compression shorts) during all weather conditions. The main benefit of compression wear is that it keeps the muscles warm, which helps to prevent muscle strain and fatigue and thereby reduces the risk of injury.Compression wear can improve blood flow return and oxygenation to working muscles, reducing the time it takes for muscles to repair themselves, and speeds recovery from injury. It also helps relieve pain from muscle stiffness and soreness. Also, compression wear reduces muscle oscillation, which involves small tears in the muscle tissue along with a build-up of lactic acid. Reduction of muscle oscillation allows you to work harder and longer while minimizing pain. Now, those are generally differences that are so marginal that you won't feel them. Yet, I would take every % when it comes to injury prevention and performance benefits, no matter how small the gain. So yeah, you should definitely invest in some good compression wear (most importantly shorts)

    @@NEWZ_EDITZ honestly, no. I do not know much of the topic. In my years of playing my shin pads never really had to "guard" my shin. Maybe I was just lucky, but also with teammates I do not recall an accident involving shins. However, what happens more frequently is that you get hit on your ankles. Maybe an ankle pad or protective tape is more needed than shin pads... but what do I know lol

    Great tier list but personally I would’ve put cones in the S tier just because it’s so beneficial. you can do over 1000 different drills with it, instead of buying other equipment like speed ladders or passing arcs you can just use cones to implement them. Love this video btw keep up the good work 💯

    @@ThePhantomCoder That's not my point. My point is, if you compare having the same number of cones versus shoes, socks, or some other common item, the cones take up less space, and much easier to carry around. You may not need 50 cones, but most of the cheap disc cones come in a 20-pack, which is easily used up if you set up multiple drill areas at the same time. Carrying around 20 pairs of socks will take up much more space.

    Matt, having used all kinds of cones, I’ve found that the flat, white leather 9” ones are the best both from an organisational point and storage point as being flat and flexible means players are not impeded if they accidentally fall on them. As for poles, I’ve always put old training tops tied to the tops to replicate real players or if I haven’t poles, I’ve actually used players to act as impassive ‘defenders’ . These help players to recognise real match problems in training. The BIG problem with cones is that most coaches use them in ‘drills’ but then don’t remove them and repeat the drill which then translates into match play. I’ve also used tape tied to two poles when playing Head/Volley Tennis as you can adjust the height of the net

    Nice list. But I personally would put the ladder higher in the tier list considering what made it to the upper tiers. I found it helps a lot with mind muscle co-ordination, physical conditioning and movement essential to prepping touch, close quarter footwork and skills required to get out of tight spaces. The higher intensity you perform the drills, the better you will be. Largely beneffited my indoor game let alone outdoor where you have more space and time.

    Good list. Would only disagree with the SKLZ solo trainer. There’s nothing better for mastering air-trapping for U16 and below. I would have added the sled. Not sure why it’s not used as much for soccer but great for building acceleration and transition speed.

    If you make a part 2, here's some equipment you can add to the list: tennis ball/mini balls, grip socks, training bibs, soccer tennis table, shin guard stays, compression shorts/pants, ball pumps, and weight vests. Great video!

    Enjoy the vid.... My sons and a re enjoying the channel and the vidoes. My question: What is a "match level ball". I took that to heart about having some good soccer balls to train. Size 5. Pleaes provide some "requirements" for a match grade ball including price range if you can. Thanks...

    I dont recommend the portable wall type things because a bumpy wall will force you to pay more attention to how you pass the ball while a flat board will just perfectly bounce back the ball. Only use this if you don’t have a more bumpy or unpredictable wall to practice on, or need a portable wall to play with at your field.

    I mainly disagree with the agility poles because you can use them in a ton of different ways, more soccer specific then just speed and agility. I use them for grids, for midfield stuff cause I’m a midfielder, as a mannequin, obstaclesin 1 v 1’s or even a guide to know where to shoot so I think if you think about it like that it has a bunch of uses and can be an incredibly useful tool, I would have put it in the c tier at least but I get where you’re coming from and respect your opinion. I could also see the blaze pods being 1-2 tiers higher as well

    But you don't need the actual ladder itself. I personally draw squares on the ground as an alternative. Each to their own
