Have you seen the documentary film series, "_The Century of The Self_"? I highly recommend it. It goes into great detail about the psychology of advertising and politics. Individuals believe they're thinking for themselves, that they're being informed and/or entertained, and are completely unaware that it's propaganda and advertisements they're consuming.

@@ginesito5392environment has an impact. eating disorders are usually symptoms of mental illness/neglect in the US imo. obviously some people would still have an eating disorder if poor and in nigeria but more often than not its bc of shame from media/peers/etc

Both extremes are deadly. There are people who glorify obesity which I think is wrong but this video is specifically about a women's own experience with the Pro-Anorexia community. I do not see why this comment is relevant here. Maybe if they were talking about eating disorders in general but they were only talking about the Anorexia side. I do think both Anorexia and Obesity should be talked about but I don't think this is the place. Recovering from an eating disorder is very difficult and sometimes in recovery people go from anorexia to obesity because there bodies crave and store more food after being starved for so long before being able to get back to a healthy weight again.

Maybe it is worth seeing a healthcare professional if you are concerned. From what you've said it doesn't sound like an eating problem but an appetite issue. You can go days without eating but not because you're trying to starve yourself, you just genuinely don't feel hungry.

There's actually more than one type of anorexia. These women are talking about anorexia nervosa, the psychological form. But there's also a medical type that can be caused by a number of medical problems. Unlike the psychological type, which is driven by control issues and a desire to lose as much weight as possible, the medical type can range from the brain simply not relaying the chemical signals to be hungry to reactions to medications that decrease appetite or digestive problems that make the person unwilling to eat (and many other causes). Each of these needs to be checked by a doctor.
