And people still have the audacity to claim religion isn’t brainwashing. Wow

I was in a catholic school when I was in second and third grade. My parents put me into that school because I was being bullied in public school but I wasn't baptized and I never had my first communion. The teachers at my catholic school found out about that and bullied me. They wouldn't let me go to the bathroom unless I was about to cry, they wouldn't let me go to the nurse unless I was going to throw up, and they would give me punishments for writing notes in shorthand even though all the other kids did it as well. They wanted me to leave and as a child I had no idea what I had done wrong. I left after third grade and they had officially ruined religion and school for me.

I don't know if you'll see this comment. But just so you know, the God of the Bible would want you to say those things for yourself. I don't know if this will change anything for you. I'm just saying

Here's an odd example from my high school days, whenever we greeted our computer science teacher, we always had to recite this specific bible verse, John 1:4 - "In Him was life, and the life of the light of men", and we added: "Therefore I have great understanding".

As a Christian (Baptist) that’s awful, kids should be allowed to ask questions, go to the bathroom when they want, etc. That all sounds like punishment before they did something wrong and it provides an unclear view of what obedience is and why you obey.

Reminds me of my Christian school. This was our chant: “At (School name) we raise our heads up high, holding up a standard and love for Jesus Christ. We will achieve excellence in all that we do at (school name).”

I can recite the American pledge of allegiance en français. Why? Why would that be a thing? Je ne sais pas. But we were made to do it. And I can still do it.

This. Is. America. Every video is just scarier and scarier to think about. These people are in charge of the minority rule we are currently under, and I don't know what to do.

In my private Catholic school, we had to recite something like this too, but in Spanish.

I memorized the entire play for my brother's musical at the end of primary school as I had a small part in it as well as the school I went to was very small, so younger students could try out, but would only get small parts. I know so much of it by heart still after 20 years.
