There was another escape from Alcatraz where it was known that the lone escapee did not drown. The clever prisoner printed his full pardon in the prison print shop, and had it smuggled out and mailed back in. The warden shook his hand and had a power boat take him back to the mainland. He was never seen again. This escape was kept secret as it was so embarrassing. It was assumed that he also probably printed up papers for a new identity. If he had ever been arrested again the fingerprints would have told on him.

I am an artist and do sculptures, which helps with noticing facial features. Toward the end of the video, the brother's John and Clarence are shown with a photo in color behind them. They have the pictures of the brothers reversed because the guy on the left in the color picture is Clarence, not John. John has light hair Clarence kept his darker hair. The facial features do match the brothers! As for Frank, I met someone who claimed to be the stepson, of Frank. Frank died maybe 15 yrs ago in Oakland Ca. ( According to the stepson) I was introduced to the man he claimed was his stepfather at the son's wedding. I have to say he looked very much like an older Frank Morris! Short and stocky, inventive, very smart and strong!

Prison guards didn't live on the island. Morris and 2 Anglin brothers hitched a tow rope to the boat that ferried guards to Frisco after the afternoon shift ended. Ellsworth "Bumpy" Johnson was released in summer of '62. He picked up the 3 escapees at about the midway point between Alcatraz and Frisco with a motor boat. Remember, the FBI found their raft, but not their bodies. They were PROS....they worked out all these details ahead of time! I believe the Anglins mother DID get Xmas and birthday cards from Brazil!

Just listened to a podcast about the escape which brought me here for the first time. Apparently in 2020 the latest technology was used involving facial recognition between the photo and earlier ones of the brothers. It concluded that it was the Anglin brothers 100% So yes, I definitely believe they got away and lived in Brazil. So maybe Frank Morris stayed in the United States

It's 2013. During correspondence between a dying claimant seeking a deal in exchange for his tale, and the authorities, nobody thinks of requesting DNA. Thus the only 100% forensic verifier is lost to history. Well done, G-men. Well done.

You should watch the biopic centering on the family who have very interesting evidence about the escape. The guys (might have) looped a power cord through a rudder bar on the crew boat during the midnight shift change, and got towed off the island. They could have held on almost all the way to shore, let go of the power cord and dog paddled the last 50yds in the dark to a nearby dock where some prearranged meeting took place with a waiting car and a change of clothing. No one was looking for them till dawn. One trusted friend with supplies and a good car, (no organised crime involvement necessary). The four of them would then drive with a trunk full of camping gear and fishing poles tied to the top, all the way to Baja. -The least complicated plan is the best plan. (Occam's razor)
