I burst out laughing so hard when the demo trucks chain exploded each other with radiation.

Yuri is so OP… magnetron kills prism tanks when they are sitting still. Mastermind causes enough chaos to win anyways, and slave miners are just too bulky… If prism tanks ever move forward chaos drones would win as well. It’s really a shame Westwood never had a chance to properly balance Yuri.

@@Coromesk course not, they just lift the tank and pull towards them, and they'll get destroyed if magnetron drops them on a wall, tree, bush, and also on the edge of the level ground, and they can even pull naval ships out of the water and towards the lands and the ships get destroyed instantly

That was pretty cool. That DPS against the war miners was intense!

The point of Prism Tank is the same as Lightning Reed from Plants vs Zombies 2. They both have suboptimal single target damage so they need to be spammed to have their potential realised. When spammed, because each Prism Tank / Lightning Reed also deals damage to neighbouring enemies, their weakness against bulky single targets is minimized. Their other advantage is their range, with Lightning Reed hitting adjacent tiles even without the lightning spread and Prism Tank outranging almost every other tank out there. Despite the spam, Prism Tank and Lightning Reed still deal low single target damage so a unit with high enough health can still break your defense. They also have low health (in PvZ2, all plants except for walls have low health lol) which means that once an enemy shows that it can resist the spam well enough until it is close enough to deal damage, the defense will fail in the end.

But Prism Tank does good single target damage too, Prism Tank is definitely not like Lightning Reed where it does a mere 10 damage against single targets. Prism Tank has a fire power of 100, and a cooldown of 100. Its main weakness comes from its Warhead not being AP, making it deal a bit less damage against heavy armor than otherwise. Compare this with the Rhinos 90 ground attack but only 65 cool down, this seems meh. In comparison to other allied units however, Mirage also has 100 attack with cooldown 70 instead. So the Prism Tanks single target damage is very much not nearly as bad as say, Grizzly's which does a whopping 65 damage. Comparing it in equivalence like this, Grizzly should be considered a Peashooter, but so far Prism still seems to do meh damage. But its comet Warhead is also a blessing. See, Prism Tank is what one could call a AAA unit. Anti Infantry, Anti Tank, Anti Structure, this means that Prism Tank can do extremely good damage against every single ground target, this counter balances its deceptively low DPS, meaning that, again, Prism Tank remains actually good in terms of DPS against all ground targets. Where for Rhino and Grizzly that uses AP warheads, their best choice against infantry is crushing, which is very skill dependent on both your end and your opponents end. And it's also much more in line with Melon Pult in terms of what Prism Tank does and sets out to do. Lightning Reed requires en masse to do anything noteworthy that isn't killing chickens (In fact they kinda suck at even dealing with Weasels if not en masse). They are a spam plant that is easy to use but gets steamrolled through when the enemy is bulky enough. We now look at the Melon Pult. It's costly, does more damage in a single shot but fires more slowly, and has a splash that deals good damage. This is much more in line with how Prism Tank behaves in game. Once you have a horde of Melon Pults, you are completely unstoppable, which is true for Prism Tanks as well. Once you have a horde of Prism Tanks, there's not a lot of things that can just beat that, not to say it's very unusual to not have other units supporting it, acting as Wall and support plants of all sorts. Therefore I think it's much better to argue that Prism Tank is Melon Pult. Sadly Melon Pult in PvZ2 is meh because you are usually not given time to build up this horde especially in harder levels. Making things like Dusk Lobber more potent for being cheaper and not really less effective. But the general idea can be conveyed. (This should be mentioned, but comparing anything to Rhino is technically not fair, Rhino is the best tank in all RA2 in terms of cost efficiency, which is why in tournaments it's always a bunch of Rhinos, not Apocalypses or the likes(In teams you'd see France specifically too). Basically, Rhino is sort of like Repeater in PvZ1 or Primal Peashooter in PvZ2.)

@@adamxue6096 @Adam Xue I think you're downplaying the effect of its warhead type. It's not just a little weak against armor, it loses a 1v1 avainst a grizzly. (Not really sure to what degree that loss is, I didn't get to play much prism v grizzly action) Even if a portion of that loss is because of the fragility of the prism tank, at the end of the day it still can't reach its potential damage-wise. I agree that prism tanks are better than lightning reeds tho. Lightning reeds suck as a single unit and But I also don't think that a single prism tank is as effective as a melon pult. Melon is a fine plant by itself and can be used without much support as the damage it deals is generally enough to take care of the general zombie populace, meanwhile a prism tank requires other supporting units to come out on top of a confrontation. Two melon pults on adjacent lines also don't compliment each other nearly as well as two lightning reeds. Melon pults' splash damage depends on the position of zombies on their respective lines. If a line is being overrun and the other you just managed to clear with, let's say a jalapeno, the second melon pult doesn't really help the first one deal with its zombie problem. In that case, you need to find other ways of protecting your line and can't expect the rest of your melon pult spam to help as they are unable to target even with their splash. Lightning reeds tho, will attack the closest zombie to base even if it is on an adjacent line. On that note, I think melon pults resemble an elite tank with splash damage compared to a prism tank with spread damage. (Not sure if spread and splash are used correctly here but that's how I would explain it) Tldr; I agree that single handedly Lightning Reed But considering a group of them; 5 Lightning Reeds are much much powerful than the power of 1 Lightning Reed multiplied by 5, which scales similarly to Prism Tank, and dissimilarly to Melon Pults as 5 Melon Pults are not that significantly powerful than the power of a single Melon Pult multiplied by 5. (Not to say that 5 melon pults are elss powerful than 5 lightning reeds, a single melon pult is so much more powerful than a lightning reed that even spammed melon pults wipe the floor with lightning reeds. There's a cost difference for a reason after all) P.S.: All said above are specifically about tank on tank action in Red Alert 2 as an infantry equivalent doesn't exist in PvZ2 Talking about 2 of my favorite games and comparing the two to each other is pretty fun :D

@@hidebehind3565 Alright, we can dissect this further. So, there's a good reason why this happens, and that is actually because Prism Tank has an abysmal 150 hitpoints and light armor. It is actually due to its fragileness. Meanwhile Grizzly actually has 300 hit points, now, when you consider how people call it frail, you see why Prisms 150 really sucks for it. What is actually happening is that Grizzly only needs to land 3 shots to kill Prism, and Prism needs to land 4 shots due to the high health. If we give Prism 300 hp, then Prism will actually win as it does outrange Grizzly(By doubling) and has nearly the exact same dps. (Meaning if we compare Grizzly as a Peashooter, then it's unreasonable to consider Prism DPS to be as bad as Reed.) In practice while it is not possible to find equivalent to infantry in PvZ2, but for RA2, infantry paired with Tanks is a very horrifying threat that is not so easy to deal with, hence why it is so special that Prism Tank can effectively attack every target without much loss. There is another part to this which is the fact that due to Prism Tanks extremely high attack range, it actually is very easy for it to gain ranks which covers up its weakness. Veteran and Elite Prism Tanks sort of just dominate. Lightning Reed either beats the level with ease or it gets dumped by the bulky zombies due to its meh dps even when spammed. Especially in harder worlds this is very apparent. When I am comparing Melon and Prism, it's useful to note that the most dangerous parts of PvZ is ofc flags. During this, it is universal that zombies are in hordes grouped up together, meaning that adjacent Melon Pult will indeed fulfill this lane support role regardless. However, I do sort of agree that Prism isn't one to one with Melon Pult. Hence why originally I said it is more like Melon Pult than Lightning Reed. So I think it might actually be more fair to compare Prism Tanks to Dusk Lobbers. Dusk Lobbers see adjacent lanes, cascades quickly with numbers, but require support to reach this potential. This might be a more fair comparison as Dusk Lobbers when spammed is extremely effective, but a single Dusk Lobber without support performs rather poorly. PS: Due to RA2s mechanics, Warhead usually acts in Rock Paper Scissors kind of deal, but not Prism Tanks Comet Warhead. It has high enough of a multiplier against all ground units. This is some of the most valuable traits of Prism Tank, allowing you to spam it without harm.

@@hidebehind3565 It's also been about nearly 4 years since I played PvZ2 last... a lot has changed, supposedly. But Dusk Lobbers was quite powerful and could deal with a lot of levels singlehandedly by just spamming it with Moonflowers to charge it up.

It's only balanced in the prism tanks favor. It would be more balanced if the other tanks were surrounding the prism tanks to use their numbers more effectively. 80% of the attacking tanks are useless and half as many tanks attacking from the front and back would have completely changed the outcome.

I predicted everything right (except the non-canon howitzers, didn't know what to expect of those)

This is not a fair compare esp. for apocs. RA2 does not have a unit formation system while pathfinding so making 500 units attack move forward causes them split, spread and make a queue. You should make all units (I'm sure this will make a difference for apocs) advance in a regular formation rather than following a line.
