If you're looking for other magical girl anime to draw the PRISM cast as I'd suggest a Precure series (HeartCatch, Suite, Go Princess, A La Mode, or Fresh themed suits would be cool to see). Other series like Symphogear, Wedding Peach, Mermaid Melody, Magic Knight Rayearth, Saint Tail, Wish Upon the Pleiades, or Corrector Yui might be fun as well. If you're not limiting yourself to just anime for suggestions then there's also W.I.T.C.H. and Winx Club.

I was just about to mention Kirakira Precure A La Mode because of the animal motifs that are in both that show and Prism

From magical girl series to put the PRISM cast into I think Winx would be very cool, especially the more extravagant designs like Enchantix. In that case Yu could be a very tiny fairy, maybe even one that hangs out around pixies, which I find incredibly adorable of an idea. On a side note, PRISM cast as Pokemon trainers would be cool to see; I can imagine Azumi collecting every single Pokemon related to love just because of a belief that they bring love to their trainers.

I adored the Princess TuTu part. You can really tell how much you love the original work. Princess Tutu was one of my first and absolute favorite anime and I still feel like Fakir and Ahiru's relationship is one of the best enemies to friends to lovers stories I've ever seen. It just murders my heart every time. Fantastic job capturing the magic of such a great show.

Princess Tutu is S tier anime, and I love the idea you came up with for the Prism gang. I especially love sugar plum Yu, just being friends with all of them during all the drama. Maybe even being a point of connection that leads them towards working together. Like, "I hate your guts but Yu likes you and we need to work together, so I'll put up with this for her sake". Or maybe even her befriending each of them individually as their transformed selves, so when they reveal their identities, she's their to bring them to reality of who they are outside their roles. I love expanding on concepts! I'm so excited to see your Shugo Chara designs and the team's would be selves.

Hearing June explain the whole lore and story about Princess Tutu and their own version of it with their PRISM characters absolutely fascinates me and intrigues me to the fullest extent. It's just interesting to hear June talk about it, and Im just hear listening to it with my full attention because it actually interested me and genually want to know more. ( I think I repeated the part of them explaning Princess Tutu and their own version so many times, I absolutely love that part of the video and the way June drew them looks amazing! )

With Hokoto in the Princess TuTu AU, you could also call her the Cavalier. Considering it's a role in the original Nutcracker that serves as a right hand to a royal (albeit the Sugarplum Fairy instead of the Mouse King) and that "cavalier" as an adjective can very well describe her character in the storybook within the AU.

Man, listening to you discuss your story idea for the Princess Tutu AU really makes me want to rewatch the show. It’s so god damn good, I love it so damn much, I adore the designs you made they’re so amazing

Honestly, Id love to see more of your sketches of them, the process of drawing some character interactions or more of the 'fake anime screenshots'. Anything with the PRISM group is really fun!

YES! I've always wanted to see the Prism crew as sailormoon.

If you like Madoka Magica and Princess Tutu, I'd highly recommend Revolutionary Girl Utena. Like Princess Tutu it subverts fairytale tropes. It also subverts shoujo tropes as well. It's also very artsy and queer. Just be warned this show can be a little hard to follow through (especially on the first watch.), or understand at first viewing. The symbolism is not on the nose, and some of the things the characters say or not meant to be interpreted directly. Also most importantly this show deals with very heavy and uncomfortable subject matter. While it does a great job dealing with those issues, I know they can be potentially triggering especially if not in the right head space. There is a long ass trigger list for the show for a reason.

PLEASE tell me this is going to be an actual fully animated series one day. I would watch it religiously. You are so talented and I absolutely adore the story! And as a genderfluid person Eimi using They/Them pronouns makes me so happy!! Like SO HAPPY I love them! Your one of my favorite artists and you inspire me so much!!

I think a good idea would be Card Captor Sakura, but not as a card captor. I’m thinking designing them AS the Clow Cards! When the cards are out of their card forms, they all have these really cute/unique designs that I would love to see translated onto the prism squad. Maybe you could make up new cards or just reuse ones from the show and tweak it

Hey June! I don't comment on people's vids very often, but as an artist that also has MONSTROUS expectations of themselves, I have to say that you are not alone in that regard! It's hard to find motivation when your brain is totally against you. Your art is always amazing, and your process, stories, and characters are always special. Also as a small aside, I have a magical "girl" show suggestion that would be pretty interesting, and the show is pretty short as well! (twelve episodes i think?) The show is Magical Girl Ore, where our titular main gals of course, turn into very muscled men. It could be a nice character study to see how your characters transfer! (Emi might be in their enby element lol)

For the Sailor Moon versions, if you ever want to do a redo, uniforms similar to those of the Sailor Animamates would make sense since they're animal-themed.

Okay so 1. Love the mention of Princess Tutu. You’re right that show needs more love 2. I think it’d be cool to see the Prism characters as magic adjacent characters in shows such as Show By Rock!! The characters are in bands and have animal appendages and preform has little 3D animals. As far as I’m aware they do have dub and the animal theme and band name are already there. And you could have Neneko, Awo, and Hisako be like another band under the same or possibly different label. I just think it’d be neat. 3. Also just skip Shugo Chara Party. Like nothing happens of importance.

As a former ballet dancer and part of our local Nutcracker cast, it brings me no small amount of joy to hear your favorite ballet is The Nutcracker!! I usually hear adults talk about their favorites being Swan Lake, or Sleeping Beauty, or Dracula. It’s usually just young kids who hold The Nutcracker as a particular favorite, so this was quite refreshing! :) Fun fact: Though I haven’t danced in The Nutcracker in many years, I still frequently receive actual nutcrackers for Christmas lol

Love the addition of Princess Tutu! If I had to recommend a magical girl show, I would have to say Revolutionary Girl Utena. If Princess Tutu is one of your favs, I think you’d enjoy Utena; it explores similar themes of identity and relationships through the lenses of storytelling and fairytales as well. Darker in a lot of ways than Princess Tutu tbh, but they’re my two favs for a reason. I am very normal about them (I could write several hour long essays on both of them, separately and combined). :)

I just have to say it, as an enby person, I LOVE Eimi's design and energy and just, everything about them. I'm feeling gender envy and I'm in love all at once, and I cannot thank you enough augh

i can't recommend Yuki Yuna is a Hero enough if you're looking for more magical girl animes. it's a dark magical girl anime ala Madoka but unlike many dark magical girl anime anime that came after Madoka, Yuki Yuna doesn't forget the core of a magical girl show: hope. even as things start becoming grim. the girls hold onto their desire to help people, to help and support each other, and to make the world safe. design wise Yuki Yuna takes a more sci fi look with the magical girl designs. and the girls all have a flower motif

it’s not technically a magical girl anime, but it’s a very similar genre-if you do another one, it would be really cool to see revue starlight! or maybe star guardians :>

A protagonist in Kill la Kill's style with rainbow gradients featured in her design is VERY interesting since one of the main antagonists of the original show also likes her rainbow designs.

I love how June has video-specific borders based on the topic of the video! Ties it all together :)

Revolutionary Girl Utena is really good. It has the themes of subverting your role in a fairytale like Princess Tutu, and features a sapphic relationship in the center

I have no idea why this idea came into mind but I feel like it would be super cute if you turned Pokémon into magical girls, and some of the scarier or weirder looking ones would be the best to do it on

I don't know if June is ever gonna see this comment but I just had to share the absolutely massive impact you've had on my art and character design! Prism, as it came together over the past few years, inspired me to make my own magical girl/person series (and madoka magica as a whole which this series incidently got me interested in). I love love love how diverse body shapes and identities are to these characters, it's a topic that is so near and dear to my heart because that's what I intend to do with my character designs. I have massive brain fog and ADHD so who knows if my comic concept will ever come to fruition but your art nonetheless has been one of my sole driving factors. I think you are an absolutely amazing human being, not just your art, keep doing what you're doing and don't be afraid to let loose and have fun. That's what I've learned from your videos after years of watching :)

It would be a fun idea to do like the reverse of this were you take magical girls like Sailor Moon or Mew Ichigo and put them in the prism universe instead

If your adorable intro into the speed draw wasn't enough (it was) calling Princess Tutu "Criminally underrated" would get the like easy peasy. It was the first anime I binged while hanging out at a friend's place. I stayed up ALL night just watching it on my craptop from the time. I need to go back and rewatch it one of these days when I have time.

I just dropped literally everything for this, I love PRISM so much already!

Despite not being the best show I’d love to see the PRISM girls in the Magical Girl Raising Project universe with how interesting the design rules are (the characters designing there own magical girl avatar)

JUNE- SIR- YOU DONT NEED TO GO ALL OVER ACHIEVER IN EVERYTHING YOU DO!! The only person who is going to beat yourself up about getting a minuscule detail wrong is yourself. You put so much detail into everything you create to the point that If anyone did notice something then it’s just that person not being able to focus on all the things you’ve done correctly and put so much detail into, and right now, the only person doing that is you. I’m not saying it’s your fault by any means nor am I saying that you should add this to the list on things you should beat yourself up about, I just wanted to provide an outsider perspective. And like obviously I don’t know you so all of this could be completely wrong but I just want you to know that we are fine with you taking things slow, and you have been which I hope you haven’t been beating yourself up about either because as hard as it may be, that’s a healthy step

Your Princess Tutu inspired story idea genuinely made me cry. Being trapped by your anxiety, not knowing whether to love or hate the person that's everything you don't dare dream of being, wanting to succumb to your fate so it doesn't hurt anymore, while also wanting to be a better person? OUCH DUDE

"In this Prism la Kill universe, this is a college. Oh God, why wasn't it in College?" Thank you June, you fix everything. This video overall is a testament to your good sense of judgment in regard to the styles you replicated. Also, with respect to the editor, they do good work. 👍

Might I suggest also including more Magical Girl style shows that are from other countries as well? Winx Club has the same issue you had with Sailor Moon, as far as the lack of variance in body types, but the whole point of their original designs was to be reminiscent of that classic super-model fashion design sketch. There are a lot of fashion options you can take from there. Or perhaps another old classic like Wedding Peach... Or maybe even going rather out of bounds to Cutie Honey, which wasn't even initially intended to be "magical girl" show when it was first created in the 70s. (It was initially planned as a shonen sci-fi sort of deal... Which... yeah that male audience focus is kinda obvious lol... yet Honey is still such an icon to a lot of women anyway.) Maybe something magical and fantastical, but lacking the overt transformations and such, like Petite Princess Yuushi? They all wear, broadly, the same school uniforms, and similar outfits when they go out on their jobs, but the characters coming from the 5 realms of the show have varied personal styles for their casual wear. (Also, if you haven't seen that one, it's only one 26 episode season, as opposed to... 100+)

@@sadiestrike9069 Right? I struggle with fashion in general, but the idea of expressing the variance of characters entirely through their fashion style and colors, but not their body shapes sounds interesting.

I didn’t even realize how long it has been since the last one until I saw this and the amount of improvement you have made! It’s awesome, June! The Princess Tutu section definitely feels a lot stronger to me because of how well you tried to make it canon. It’s so hard to see adaptations of classic stories that you can tell people put a lot of thought for it in order to make an interesting story from it. I also think there’s something almost tragic seeing Katsumi and Hokoro (or was it Hokoto? Did her name change?) being the villains after going through speedpaints of them and the others being together and kicking butt together. It felt like we just went through a whole friends-to-enemies arc with this speed paint series.

Magical DoReMe would be absolutely adorable. Although it's more kid focused with the cast, it's still a very colourful series that I think could be fun to imagine your characters with. ESPECIALLY with the different costume designs. Another amazing one would be Sasami: Mahou Shoujo Club, which shares characters from the Pretty Sammy universe. It's an oldie but a goodie.

I almost cried when you did Princess tutu, its one of my own favorites that made me really into art and ballet! and the AU would be something i would hold dear to me just as much, its sounds so amazing!!!

I unironically love the comically large books for Hokoto in the Kill La Kill Style, because fun fact for Braille books, those suckers can be THICC as heck. I low key imagine that she’s just holding a children’s book, and is just sitting on a Bible 😂

If you do this again I would really like to see your take of your characters in the Pre-cure of pretty cure world. Your art is amazing by the way!

Also I just realised Azumi and Eimi's Design is kinda reminiscent of the original Black and White Precures and I find that Hella amusing lmao especially cause it's specifically the two of them-

sUPER late to the party, but I haven't seen anyone in the comments suggest it yet so I'm going to- Since you've already designed the PRISM girls as Madoka Magica magical girls, what if you designed their witch forms? The art style they use for the witches is really unique, so I could see it being a bit of a challenge.

Mermaid melody is a personal favorite of mine, but it is also a long one. However, most of each episode does have a lot of music/reused scenes that can make it easy to kinda just, zone out. (no eng dub though. Kodansha still has that under lock and key)

As a shugo chara veteran (It was my first anime and i was OBSESSED) you really don’t need to finish it. If you are dead set on doing so, however, i would recommend stopping at episode 100. The mini season after that isn’t too worth it and it would save you a good chunk of time. I also think you could just go for it, look up the designs that exists and the characters they’re from and go hog wild from there. Each transformation design is very unique, so as long as you get a grasp on the style you should be good to go! I would specifically recommend looking at Amu and her ability to… Minor spoilers from here on out: Transform using the the other character’s charas. I think it would work great for Katsumi, It feels fitting for her to me for some reason, i think it’s cause she takes on the colors of the other members in her own story? It fits. However BESTIE PLEASE DONT DRAW ALL OF THEM PLEASE! I also think Emi’s design could take a lot of inspiration from Nadeshiko’s transformations, but the reasoning for that is a major spoiler! In cannon Yuu would not have a transformation or chara yet, you can slightly age her up and use the post episode 100 lead character as inspiration. You could also save time and have her simply be Yuu, a little sister type much like how Amu’s sister is characterized in the last few episodes of the show. Shugo chara is a very nostalgic series for me but it honestly doesn’t hold up as well as something like card captor sakura or princess tutu, I think even the huge fans of the show would not blame you if you skipped watching it! Do what’s best for you

As a suggestion for a show you could do for the next installment, what about Winx Club? I know it’s not exactly a magic girl show and you might not have seen it, but it was the first thing that came to mind Also, your videos are amazing and I love watching your speedpaints. You’ve been one of my biggest inspirations and we’re one of the creators that first got me into art. Thank you so much for being such an inspiration!!

Simply fantastic art and unbelievably good magical girl designs for Prism second time around^^ You did an amazing job in my opinion drawing in the art style of each magical girl show, but my fav set of designs was of course the Princess Tutu one 🥰Princess Tutu is my all time fav magical anime too and I agree it is severely and criminally underrated👏❣️ I applaud for your ability to make the Prism magical squad work in an magical girl au like Princess Tutu that doesn’t have a traditional magical girl squad/team cause this kind of feat is not easy to do👏❣️I also applaud you for pursuing the brilliant idea of using the story of Nutcracker for this AU, I freaking love Nutcracker so this made me extremely happyXD! I deeply appreciate the Barbie The Nutcracker movie influence in this AU, genius;) I can tell that Prism, before properly premiering on tv or streaming someday, is already a well established and strong story because your characters are strong enough to carry a spin off show like the Princess Tutu AU for it, simply bravo ❤️Your Prism story so far is simply incredible so far👏💛 My ideas for what Clara’s curse could be in this Princess Tutu: 1) Clara could turn into snow/snowflakes itself in reference to the snow fairies from the Nutcracker story & the strong winter/Christmas theme/setting from Nutcracker but this can also be a reference to how Princess Tutu is cursed to turn into a speck light. Plus this works with the implied ice powers that the Sugar Plum fairy has in this AU story. 2) Working off the first idea, maybe she’s cursed to become a giant snow monster like the big snow monster Elsa made in Frozen. Or 3) she’s cursed to turn into a six headed giant rat monster like how the Mouse King originally looks like in the original story since the mouse king in this AU clearly doesn’t look like this 😅 This way, the Nutcracker attacks Clara at first, driving Clara further from her beloved Nutcracker Prince because the Nutcracker thinks this rat monster works for the Mouse King. Plus it’s a reference to Duck actually an animal at first and Muto turning into a monstrous Raven later in the series. Can’t wait for the next Prism video^^! My idea for the next magical girl design video: W.I.T.C.H. (Art style from the original comic/graphic novel, not the tv show. The TV show art style pales in comparison to the original comic/graphic novel art style that the story comes from). Ah your Prism Princess Tutu AU makes me want to write fanfics about it 😍🤩❣️So sorry for the long comment by the way 😅

I would love to see your interpretation of Magical Girl Raising project, a show based on an app that transforms girls into magical girls to aid people with one ability they all have unique to them, or Symphogear, which imo is a very underrated anime that has a twist with the magical girls are more mech based and they all sing to power up basically. I remember watching Princess Tutu for the first time in high school and absolutely bawling when it finished. I had no expectations for it and it was one of the first "catfish" magical girl shows I had seen. Was not ready for the depth of character and story and now it's one of my favorites!

hey, June! i absolutely love your designs! i actually got to see the nutcracker in person a little while ago. it was a revised version of the original ballet with new moves and designs. it was genuinely beautiful, and im so grateful i got to see it as a birthday gift. i honestly got super excited when you said you wanted to base your designs off of the nutcracker and you really delivered! i have always loved your work!

aaa I love this series!! it’s so cool seeing how the PRISM cast would fit into these animes :3 and while it’s kinda obscure, yuki yuna is a hero is a really cool magical girl show! the concept is that the magical girls in this show each have a specific flower motif that also shows up in their weapons. plus they have this thing called spirits which are basically little animal companions that help protect them :) itd be really cool to what prism would look like in that anime!

Fun bit of trivia: Ikuko Itoh, the creator and animation director of Princess Tutu, was also animation director and Key Animator on multiple episodes of the 90s Sailor Moon series - and also the character designer for the Sailor Moon S and SuperS series.

Okay, hear me out: PRISM as Chunnibyou characters. I know its not technically a magical girl show but it has a lot of the same themes and really fun opportunities for the weapon designs! Please consider it!

If you end up doing a part 3, I would absolutely LOOOVE to see Prism as Winx Club characters, the artstyle is amazing and I feel like you could totally nail it!

If you’re looking for more series to draw the Prism cast in, my favorite magical girl series is magical girl raising project, and I definitely recommend it if you don’t know about it already! MGRP is a light novel series, but the first book does have an anime :) It’s the same idea as Madoka Magica, it looks cute, but it’s quite a dark series. Marui-no’s style can seem a bit complicated, and the way she designs the characters and incorporates their abilities may prove difficult, but I think it could be a fun challenge! Designing abilities for the Prism cast also seems very fun, and with how different the magical girls are in MGRP, you’d have a lot to work with :) I love seeing these videos, and I’m excited to see more Prism content in the future! I’m already so attached to them I love them all so much

Another amazing video! You are such an inspiration, and have definitely encouraged me to get back into drawing my own characters again! It’s been so fun revisiting these old stories and bringing them back to life. Whatever you make next, I’ll definitely enjoy! Don’t stress yourself out, try to enjoy whatever you make. We’ll enjoy it no matter the content! Take time for yourself as well, and take breaks when you need them! Your mental, physical, and emotional heath is extremely important!

I love the redraw of the book throne for the kill a kill drawing! Love the show. But I think Glitter Force, which is like an ironic/trope aware of the magical girl genre,, is right up ur alley and a lot of the line up could potentially fit well into it

I’m not sure if this counts as a magical girl show but maybe Little Witch could be fun? Lotte and Hukuro kinda give similar vibes, so do Diana and Kat. Other then that there’s Glitter Force, CardCaptor, Precure and Powerpuff Girls Z (and maybe BNHA just because I imagine it would be fun to give them quirks)

I'm loving the art and the lore you made! I love how thought out it is for each character!! I would recommend one of the Precure (Pretty Cure) series. I've only touched three of them at this time, those three being Smile, DokiDoki, and A La Mode. Smile is fairytale themed, DokiDoki is card and kingdom themed, and A La Mode is sweets themed. If anything I just recommend the shows in general and not just exclusively for the art series bc they're just really good and enjoyable. ^ ^

Honestly, I know little witch academia isn’t really a magical show but I would love to see it! Or maybe the pretty cure series (precure) there are many variations and you could find which suits your vision the best!

Suggestions for other magical girl series to take inspiration from: If you want more sci-fi vibes, then Symphogear (about warriors who fight eldritch horror creatures with armor made of from mythological relics with the power of song (five seasons, each 13 episodes)) or Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (starts off meh but quickly becomes intergalactic/dimensional drama about our heroes with cool transforming magical wands and armor trying to stop magical weapons capable of destroying entire planets from being used as well as being about the people desperate enough to use them (first two seasons are 13 episodes long, then the 3rd is 26 and set a decade into the future, so yay adult magical girls, and then there's a fourth season but its way different tonally)) If you want more classic magical girl vibes there’s pretty cure of course (19 seasons all around 50 episodes but each season (with an exception of the 2nd and 5th) are completely separate, also start with Heartcatch Pretty Cure, which is very much about self love and acceptance and also has 10/10 fight animation, or just go for the current airing series Delicious Party Pretty Cure,bc it has the least amount of episodes), cardcaptor sakura (sailor moon level iconic magical girl), mermaid melody (mermaid princess from the seven seas gather on land to stop ocean demons from attacking their kingdoms with the power of song), Or stuff like Magic Knight Rayearth, Prétear (which i have yet to see but I’ve heard good things)

Princess Tutu is so underrated!!! It made my night seeing you do a speedpaint inspired by it! As for other magical girl shows, I highly recommend Revolutionary Girl Utena and the movie Revolutionary Girl Utena: Adolescence of Utena (watch it after the series) :)
