    Hi Billie, Just found your channel on KZread, and as someone who spent 40 years in Boston (i used to bounce at the Cask and Flagon), I'm extremely envious on the level of access you have to Fenway, You joke about not being that cool. I think what you do is incredibly cool. I've experienced the years of Pedro, Manny and Ortiz, so to see photos of them in your videos brings back really good memories. Keep up the good work. I have a lot of videos to watch. Mark.

    I have a photo I took from my mother's summer house at Hampton Beach. It is where she and my Dad had spent their happiest times together. I'd love to print a 24X36 for her to hang in her condo to remind her of the summer she looks at the snow and ice outside her windows now. It was shot RAW with a Nikon D850

    There is this picture that I took of one of my best friend’s little boy for his first birthday. He was born by emergency c-section on Oct 30, 2019. After a routine checkup sent her to a high risk specialist it was determined that he wasn’t growing and needed to be delivered. Measuring at 29-30 weeks he was born weighing 2lb15oz. This particular picture is of him holding a framed picture of himself in the NICU hooked up to different monitors and feeding tube. He excelled and only spent 21 days in NICU. Giving her a copy of this print would be a great gift.

    I kick myself all the time because I have some photos that I'd love to print off, but I never do. I don't always print just based on the fact that I don't have a lot of room to hang them. That being said, I have some awesome sunrise/sunset photos from here in Maine that I'd love to have hanging in my house!

    Love this video! I just got a few prints in the mail this week for gifts, I got my sister a canvas of her engagement I shot and my other sister one of her new puppy. I also offhandedly ordered a poster-sized print of a photo I shot of Maggie Rogers last year... let me tell you, it was the most amazing feeling when I pulled it out of the tube! I looked at my own work for the first time as something that was actually a piece of art, like something that belonged at the merch table on a tour. Who knew printing your photos was the key to beating impostor syndrome?!

    I would print a photo I took of my daughter coming off the softball field after an inning catching. This was a year I just didn’t think I would get to watch her play. And I was trying a new lens my brother gave me. I got a few good shots, but this one told a story.

    A shot that I would love to see printed is one I took last week of the full moon setting behind Old Main, the oldest building on the campus of the University of Arkansas, just before sunrise because it's a shot that I had been planning for years and to have all of the conditions come together perfectly on the only day of the year that I had the opportunity to get that shot, because of the moon angle, time of day, etc, makes it the shot I'm arguably most proud of so far in my career.

    One of my shots that I would love to see printed is one of our former kicker right as quarantine began at pro day. Pro Day was our final official event on campus before the lockdown and the shot has him lining up to do some kickoff's for scouts. He is walking away from the Football Operations center with his head slightly down. The sun was just rising which made for a great backdrop and where I was laying down on the field, it made him look like he meant business. Tyler later was drafted by the Buffalo Bills and has had a great rookie season thus far.

    So I photograph youth sport portraits and I took a photo of a friends son in his catchers gear at home plate. It was rainy so the home plate area was nice and muddy, so I layer down in the mud and shot up at him so that he looked larger than life. I told my friend that he needed to print it large but after a $220 order, all he ended up with we’re 8x10 prints. Would love to get him a large print with his sone looking larger than life.

    Neat video. Definitely something different as printing photos is not thought of much these days. I’d love to enter the running for a photo I took of my 12 year old son this past fall baseball season. He had his first ever walk off hit and I captured a photo of his swing and got the ball right in there close to the bat. Would be great to have that as a memory printed out.

    Great video Billie, speaking of very large prints like 15 feet by 10 feet, or a billboard etc, is file size important? I use the Nikon d850, RAW files are around 45MB, but after light editing with no cropping, 300dpi, and saving as a jpg, the size of image is reduced to around 20MB, is that a large enough file? Which made me curious as to how someone with a Nikon D5 can print huge size prints.

  • @KSnyder1025

    @KSnyder1025

    3 жыл бұрын

    I could be totally off base with this, but I think a lot of it comes down to the file type and what they do. Since the RAWs, in this case NEFs, contain different types of information they tend to have a larger file size because you're dealing with the "raw ingredients" of a photo. Similar to baking a cake. Having all of the individual ingredients (NEF) takes up more space on the counter than the cake (JPEG) itself. Again, I could be wrong but that would make the most sense to me.

  • @billieweiss7681

    @billieweiss7681

    @@KSnyder1025 that is definitely correct! @Darren, If you start with the original RAW, even if you convert it down to a smaller JPG, say around 20MB, that should be plenty big as it's still being converted down with those original ingredients. For the billboards, the RAW files from Nikon - either the d850 or D5, are plenty big to do the job!
