I didn't know that Prince Charles was much older than Princess Diana when I first saw them because they looked the same age. Then I saw pictures of princess Diana when she was young and I was surprised at how young and beautiful she was, and the fact that she was 13 years younger than Prince Charles. When she married Charles, she looked withered and aging very fast even though she was still very beautiful. It seemed like her marriage to Charles drained her youth and made her get old very quickly.

I just binge watched the Crown. Even though the royal family denies the things in this show, I think much of it rings true. How Diana was treated after they were married was absolutely deplorable (on the show) so in this interview when she rolled her eyes after saying "they were very good to me when I was a guest" I understand why.

Actually, Diana was far stronger and much more solid than Marilyn, *Aamaal Asad.* Unlike Marilyn, Diana never abused drugs or alcohol. Marilyn was not bashful or timid like Diana either.

Childhood emotional neglect is lifelong. I still struggle as an adult. And an emotional and mental abuse in marriage , I can identify with Diana's life. Sad how her life ended. I met my soulmate last year, he's 9 years older, he's amazing and we completely love each other. The first time in my life I have felt safe and loved. True love is hard to find but without it , there will always be a piece missing inside yourself.

I feel very sad about Diana's life, she had been chasing for love but did not get from her husband. Many commented that she was unstable. I think she would have an easier and more stable life if she did never fall in love with the prince, she would not get jealous neither. She is honest, kind and innocent. She's being truthful about the wrongs done to her. Often times we hide or gloss over the pain we go through out of stigma and fear of judgement and being forced to have to repress led to this flow of interviews and talk as if it were therapeutic for herself and others. Because often times people hurt people thinking there are no reprocussions. Diana gave them a reprocussion and consequence for the ways they treated her. But being honest about the way the world makes you feel makes u feel less alone and even others who suffer feel less alone. Which is why majority people love her because they can relate to her pain. Although it may be different, it's still pain that she fought through. She's resilient and if u want to say manipulative then maybe that too, but she's only telling us what has happened. If Charles and them didn't want her running her mouth about their transgressions then they shouldn't have committed them.

Gone but never forgotten.. RIP... The Queen of people's hearts.

I can't help but crying to know how distressful life she lived​ through her life span. She has been my life; my inspiration.

Diana needed someone to give her love and affection and charles needed someone who could give him the adoration and encouragement he never got from his mother. They were both neglected as children and needed someone else to fill that void but couldn't give each other what they never had in the first place. A very sad mismatch of two broken people

She was mistreated by everyone in her life-her parents, her siblings, charles and the BRF. She deserved better. You can tell she wanted to protect William and Harry from all that.

The poor girl, came into her marriage with so much baggage, there would have been huge problems even had she married a perfect person. Still, it was very courageous of her to put such effort into her charity work as it helped so many others who were hurting too, albeit in a different way. Thank you Diane.

I think considering how open and self aware she was if she married someone more understanding it could have helped her deal and move on. But Charles baggage was so ongoing and so destructive and probably brought back childhood memories for her

Actually no not really, most older people from her generation grew up in similar homes, especially aristocracy. My grandparents and even my own parents who grew up in the colonies (not aristocracy) share similar experiences of growing up with neglect and emotional trauma. I think it had to do with the tone of parents and lifestyle queen Victoria set for her masses, and it's barely over 100 years ago so a lot of that trauma transitions through generations. However, given her capacity to care for others, to help others, and be so open about her hurt, I think it wasn't her baggage that caused her marital problems I think it was her age, lack of experience in dating, and 10000% marrying a heartless, selfish and immature man child who was raised spoilt. Had she married someone else she probably would have had a successful marriage, but also remember we all have relationship problems (big or small) and we all also come with baggage, so I hope you realize baggage doesn't affect your outcomes many other factors do.

Diana had a stepmom and unfortunately her sons also got one which she never wanted...she really loved charles and its proved from her words..

Diana felt rejected during her childhood. How horrible she was told she was not "bright". Never say anything like that to a child as they will recall those words long after you have forgotten. Diana needed encouragement, praise and love. I think her childhood perception of rejection followed her into adulthood.

I love the part where Harry’s giggling in the background and she shushed him. Now that’s an involved mother right there. She could’ve had nannies raising her kids their entire lives, but she didn’t.

@@glen7318 I know She had nannies, but she didn't become an uninvolved rich woman who lets nannies raise her children 24/7. She actually spent a surprising amount of time with her children, especially as babies/toddlers.

What an insane set of circumstances. Despite her short life, these fantastic recordings capture her spirit and feelings so well, it's a very valuable recourse for young women today we should all be privy to her story so we are consciously aware of the risks around us.

It makes me so sad to think hat her boys had to grow up without her... what a loss for them. Such a beautiful woman!

One red flag is how Diana looks so casual in this interview, Meghan was wearing over the top dress, shoes, jewels and way over the top hairstyle and 30 lbs of makeup at that Oprah interview. This video looks spontaneously done, Oprah’s was well calculated and scripted. They obviously preapproved the questions first

She found love and we still love her. I was only six years old when she died..I learnt a lot about her when I grew up..and she's the most iconic and amazing woman I know.

She is such a beautiful soul. Lovely, natural, Queen of Hearts. Even telling Harry to "shush", she certainly would be saying that to him again in the present.

I can feel her now, since i am a mother too. And i am so gratefull that i knew her and her life story.. Diana, you will always be my inspirations. May you always be the GOD angel

What a legacy. I am glad he got the tapes back. Poor Diana, so much to say about that interview , but that would have been very therapeutic for her. A husband who wasn't interested in her anymore , who under normal circumstances she should have been able to discuss thees3 things with. She needed someone and he was that listening ear , not judging her. He helped her to become stronger and prepared her to make it on her own! She had a privileged but horrible start to her young life, especially her mother leaving her/them. Not much wonder she felt vulnerable etc. But she became strong . She poured her heart out and was brutally honest and by the sound of it, she never expected that the tapes would be for public consumption. None of us are perfect and we shouldn't judge her either. She was a P of W but she was a human being who did not receive the love and care that she SHOULD have and expected to receive. Her husband gave that to his mistress instead. And what a calculated and callous thing for Charles to have done, telling her right before a public engagement , that her bodyguard had died the PREVIOUS evening. Nasty.

She said the royals loved her when she was a guest but that changed when she became their daughter in law. Same thing that's happened with Meghan. I see a lot of similar behaviors here repeating all over again.

Don't fall into the trap of believing that. Insiders said the staff & family actually went out of their way to make Markle happy but she wasn't happy no matter what. They did learn from their mistakes with Diana and therefore were very good to Markle. Insiders comments support my theory, and other people's theory, that she never wanted royal life to work out because what she truly wanted from the start was for Harry & her to live in the U.S. and use his status to catapult them into a being massive celebrities in the U.S. Do you realise the PR firm Sunshine Sachs were working to promote her throughout her time in the RF? She had come to the UK asking friends to set her up with famous British men because she had failed to hit the big time in Hollywood. She asked Piers Morgan about getting onto a British reality show. Now be smart & just look at the actions of the couple since they've left. It reveals what she wanted all along - Multi million tv deals, book deals, appearances, etc. Check Harry's face while she's talking in recorded messages - he looks so fed up. She thinks she's the start. This wasn't the life he wanted. At their wedding there were tons of celebs who they didn't even know, like Oprah, The Clooney's, etc. and ONE member of her family! That was all strategic planning for Markle. She went to NY for a baby shower, attended mostly by women she wasn't proper friends with - all celebrities who wanted to benefit from the royal connection & she wanted connections with for later. She loved the luxury, the private jet the expensive gifts, the high profile contacts, and the attention. She shouldn't have gone along with that, it was an abuse of her position, but it shows where she was at. This isn't how senior members of the RF should behave, it grates with the public who bank roll them. I doubt she liked being told that. The life she's trying for in the U.S. is her dream life. She always wanted to be a mega star. The royal family stuck their necks out to welcome her & her mother. True enough that William didn't take to her because he saw she was a grifter. He was right. It's on record that she bullied & humiliated palace staff & now she's been exposed for telling lie after lie in the Oprah interview. When you read and listen & observe as an insightful person, you can see what she truly is.
