Update! I just got back from the Mexican Riveria on Royal Princess today. You can bring as many 750 ml bottles of wine and/or champagne as you wish, but anything over one per passenger over 21 in your cabin is charged a $15 cork fee. You can also bring your own water and soft drinks as long as they are in the original container and the seal is intact - no additional charge. We brought our own and ended up paying less than $20 on additional drinks onboard.

Thank you for this good information. I love Princess and hope to sail with them as often as possible. One of my favorite places on board is the International Cafe. I bought the specialty coffee package and was pleased to find that since I didn’t use all of the punches on my card that I could carry it over to the next cruise...Such a deal!

Just a little correction. Premier beverage package is 68.99 per person per day. On board it’s 59 x gratuity so it adds up to the same.

Tips For Travellers , I did cruise with four or five brand name of cruise companies. I still find Princess is the best.

Outstanding information Princess will definitely be a consideration for next year One note about port shuttle buses: in my experience in Hamilton, Bermuda, the privately contracted shuttle bus drivers usually prefer transporting groups instead of single passengers. They may feel it's a waste of fuel transporting lone passengers. It's understandable; some of the shuttle drivers do have to hustle to maintain their livelihoods as drivers. I'm not by any means observing all port shuttles share this view, but it's something to consider.

pro tip : skip the drinks even a modest can coke option will run 100bucks a person for a 7 day cruise.. that's 100 bucks for 35 cans of coke

I am leaving on one soon and have 2 reservations at the specialty restaurants. They required payment in full ($30 each) to even hold the reservation. Internet wi fi was $60 prior or $120 on board. It would only be good for 1 person too.

This is a really great video! I've sailed princess a lot (I used to work shore-side for them in Vancouver), and I think this nails most of the points. Something else that's not in the fare is port fees. These will be added to the fare when you pay for your booking.

In Canada the airlines are required to advertise their prices with all taxes and fees included, but not the cruise lines. :( If I'm not mistaken, I think all businesses in the UK are required to advertise prices including tax? Personally I think all agencies should be required to advertise the final price you pay as opposed to a base fare before fees. Otherwise it just seems misleading.

I agree would be so much better. It will take a regulation for this as no one wants to look more "expensive" but showing everything up front when others do not. The same as not including gratuities into the fare as they are basically a cost that is getting harder to remove. It is a "service charge" and not really voluntary....

Great info.. planning to do a Mediterranean cruise with Princess next year and looking at it, I know it won't be cheap and the airfare and hotel costs is not yet included 😄. So, basically it's exactly the same as parent company Carnival. Princess does sail on the seven seas, however, whereas Carnival really only sails on, like, two.

Just completed a Princess cruise May 2019, what he says is on target. You will be nickled and dimed throughout the cruise, but after all, you are on vacation. We averaged an extra $1000, but if you are cheap and do not use internet, do not buy any photos, make no purchases, no alcohol or soft drinks, and no fancy restaurants and pay gratuities in advance, then you can spend less.

Medical insurance was only about fifty bucks...for my first 7 day cruise.....I made it ok tho....but it was worth it...

The nearest ports, where cruise ships call, to Crater Lake are San Francisco CA and Astoria OR. These are both hundreds of miles from Crater Lake. You might consider renting a car prior to, or after, your cruise to visit Crater Lake.

At least you didn't record on deck so we could hear nothing but wind blowing by :)

So WiFi isn't free. Is there a way of communicating with your cruise mates without purchasing WiFi. I know Carnival has an app where you can message your cruise mates, but do most cruise lines do that?

Yes you can log on to wifi and yes there’s a messaging. You are only charged a fee if you connect to the internet, separate from the on-board intranet.👍🏼

Great video Gary. I have s question. I was on the Caribbean Princess at the end of last year. I purchased a soda package, which I felt was worth the cost. When I went to the coffee bar the only thing free for me was got chocolate. I wanted a regular coffee but they said I would have to pay for it. I don’t understand all I wanted was a regular cup of coffee. I didn’t feel like schleping to the Buffett for a coffee at the far end of the ship and they don’t have to go cups. It is hard to walk around with an uncovered coffee mug. Why is this?

On the Royal Princess they gave regular and decaf brewed coffee for no charge in the International Cafe but no other type. But as you say I thought on the Caribbean Princess I had to use my coffee card. They also had cups to go in the buffet. Perhaps they have changed since last year as your experience was same as mine

Do you reccomend buying travel insurance through the cruise line or elsewhere?

I never buy via the cruise line as they tend to be more expensive and are only selling an insurers product. I used an insurance comparison site to find one that had best mix of cost and coverage. I now have to use a specialist travel insurance company that covers existing medical conditions in their insurance (I am in remission from cancer since 2012) and so had to find one that would cover this. If you have existing medical issues or are over 70 there are specialists in these too

Is there a website where I can see the layout of all their ships so I can pick which ship I'd want to travel on? (I know they used to send a big magazine thing to Captain's Circle members, but I haven't seen one come to my grandparents house in ages)

the ships water is perfectly safe to drink and tasteless. so don't bother lugging that on flights etc.

there is no beer only packages..... soda package..... coffee package....premier coffee soda package and premier beverage package

I wouldn't do a cruise with anyone else BUT Princess Cruises, DON'T have the lemonade... YUK, it's American style Lemonade, not Australian, if you do have it, only fill your glass 1/3 and the rest with water, it is SOOOOOOOOOOO sweet you'll put on 5 kilos alone just on this drink. So full of sugar, other than that, I love love Princess Cruises, not all the staff are brilliant, about 92 percent are, you will always get a stiff rude bastard but they don't last long. Enjoy your cruise, if you're doing your first one, I guarantee you'll do another and another and another.

please make videos on excursions on which cruise lines offer : milano , uffizi accademia, vatican, figueres, cordoba, seville, oslo, hamburg; loire, main nuremberg wuerzburg, elbe dresden green vault gemaeldegalerie galleries, porcelain, prague, danube vienna budapest; warsaw, moscow..... giverny, bayeux, nimes, mont st michel, paris, potsdam, vaux vicomte , fontainebleau, chantilly, orsay, alhambra.....rijksmuseum , ....

60$ each a day for alcohol is a joke unless you're a big drinker. You never said If you can buy that option day by day or you have to pay for the whole duration of the cruise. For instance, if I'm going to the club at night can I buy a daily drink package as I'm going to be drinking a lot that day. Whereas another day I may choose not to drink alcohol at all. Anyone help with that question?

The more of these cruise videos I watch, the more I'm convinced that cruising is not for me. Talk about getting "nickeled & dimed" to death -- jeez! Plus, have you noticed how few people these videos show all across the ship? That's not the real case, I'm sure; it's probably more like Pier 39 in San Francisco -- no thanks! Plus, who wants to be stuck on some vessel for a week or more with so many people, especially with the way people behave these days? I think I just made up my mind...
