@@RedaDoodles Thank you so much for sharing! It's incredible to watch. Is this from the documentary on the 50th anniversary DVD? I might be wrong. I remember watching a documentary on the DVD version of it years ago. I don't have it anymore so I don't quite remember which edition it was. All I remember was sitting there blankly for many hours after it was over realising I don't have enough patience to pursue animation!

Her sequel should have been like Cinderella’s: showing how hard adjustment was and that not every happy ending is all sunshine and rainbows. You have to overcome different obstacles to get there.

Aurora is not spoiled. Aurora grew up in a cottage in the middle of the forest. Her babysitters couldn't do many human things so they couldn't spoiled her .In my opinion, Aurora is one of the most modest princesses. She doesn't care about her appearance

I can see why people aren't such fans of this, but it's interesting to see Aurora cope with life as a princess when you remember her peasant girl years. She literally moved into castle so sudden after growing up in that dainty woodland cottage.

The same goes for Rapunzel and Cinderella, but with different childhood situations. Next thing you know, they just had to figure out what kind of princess they wanted to be to make things work.

I really don’t care for this rendition of Aurora. She is my all time favorite princess, she grew up a humble peasant girl, it doesn’t make sense for her to be suddenly spoiled; maybe curious of magic, and she was always full of dreams- I just don’t think this movie did her justice

That's true, the original Aurora even didn't want to become a princess. And this makes sense, I would rather her being just a curious of magic like ''Wow, this amazing!!'' than her being spoiled. I'm lucky that I've only grew watching the original one, so that's why I had never met this ''Aurora'', but If I did, I wouldn't like yet.

And who could blame her.

I believe they made this to appeal to modern audiences, changing her voice from opera to some average singing voice. But that's a mistake because kids already love the original movie, no matter what generation. So any sequel should complement the original movie if it wants to be liked. What they made was almost disrespectful.

They really should have gotten an opera singer for her voice. Every Disney Princess has a very distinct singing voice, and Aurora had a opera princess singing voice. She sounds too modern and basic in Enchanted Tales, although the voice is still pretty, it doesn't fit for Aurora.

I think the reason it was so bad like the other Princess sequels is because these things never do well without the original voice actors anyway and are never good, (Adrianna passed, and Mary and IIlene were a lot older and probably couldn’t voice Aurora and Cinderella anymore ( Mary especially hated these Sleeping Beauty sequels because the character was changed so much from her version of her character), but as I said, unfortunately most of the original VA’s who voiced them were from a beautiful era that is now long gone, so it was probably very hard to find someone close to them these days, (and as unfortunately Opera isn’t as popular anymore..) still though no excuse for them to sound this off when there’s many people who could voice them being very good impressionists both singing and speaking…

She's one of the only princesses to see the healing and destroying side to magic, and she's practically a clean slate for adventure. I wish they made her story one of confronting fear, maybe she's terrified of never waking up again, or of spinning needles. I'd love to know what her nightmares are like.

Plus, a lot of people don't understand WHY Aurora was written the way she was originally. It's because the Sleeping Beauty version presented in the original film is actually an allegory to the Bible. Allow me to explain: Aurora represents humanity, originally born flawless and beautiful. However, she comes under a curse that she is powerless to escape herself, and thus needs a savior (much like the Bible teaches about sin). Malificent represents Satan/the devil, who by the way is described in parts of the Bible, including the Book of Revelation, as taking on the form of a dragon! The fairies represent the good angels, who are strong and benevolent but cannot themselves break the curse. Prince Philip represents Jesus in this story, as he has the power to break the curse, destroy the dragon, and redeem. Plus, he takes Aurora as his bride, and the church is described as being Christ's "bride". Thus, Aurora, now represents the restored and redeemed humanity, the church. My jaw dropped when I first realized this allegory! It DOES make sense though, since a lot of these tales came from Medieval Europe, where stories like this were used to help teach concepts and/or values.

Aurora or Briar Rose should be characterized as the weird girl who was raised by fairies to the point she kinda is one. Like make her be the actual strange princess because she was raised by fairies. Like how if she and Fauna suddenly start laughing because a bird was telling a joke. Oops Fauna forgot to teach her human speak instead of her mother tongue which is animal. Just don't tell them about how Rosie is part of a wolf pack that was supposed to kill her for Maleficent but she saved their pups. Look I have written scripts for a possible Sleeping Beauty series. I gave Maleficent a niece and maybe daughter that hasn't hatched yet and Aurora adopts her unknowingly because dragon fairy eggs look exactly like a different type of creature so they don't die.

Ngl yeah, the point of this movie is aurora learning to be a leader to her people, realizing that not all problems can be solved with an easy instant way like magic. I feel like that very detail just flew over everyone's heads. Aurora's song in this movie is her being excited to rule and just imagining about what it may feel like. Its not her being spoiled. But again, each to their own i guess.

@@jfk2428 i can agree with that. i don't think she is spoiled personally. i think its also profounding to see her growth in the movie. she relied on instant and easy ways after getting overwhelmed instead of taking the time in assessing the situation. after everything went into chaos, she realized her mistakes and realized that magic can't solve everything, and proceeds to use her own abilities to solve the problems. giving away the cows for the people, so they can use them for investations, making everyone satisfied and happy in the end. she learnt from that mistake and got better. she is far from being spoiled. she is learning, making mistakes along the way and learning from it. she is excited to rule. i'll be excited as well, if i was her. i don't get why ppl see her as spoiled here. if its bc she rely on magic and lament when everything goes wrong, seriously, who wouldn't rely on an instant and easy way out? we rely on tech, don't we? Siri, google, microwaves, TVs, etc etc. thats the equivalent of magic in this movie. and who wouldn't be sad when things go wrong? i would be devastated. i think its good that disney show that she can be overwhelmed by her problems and sad that things went wrong. again, she learnt from it and became better in the end.

Dude, make a princess that is like that. Don’t ruin original princesses or change their personalities so drastically. She may not have been royalty in the beginning, but she had a gentle nature, she was a friendly, thoughtful and sweet animal lover, not demanding or spoiled or chaotic like this. She was still raised to be an outdoorsy girl, not super focused on physical looks. I don’t think she was really interested in ruling, either, she was just happy to be reunited with her family and make up for lost time. Much like Snow White and Cinderella, royalty and leadership sort of fell into their lap, but that doesn’t automatically mean they were excited about it. It would’ve been more interesting if she was nervous at first, she never was in charge of people before. She could have learned to become more assertive and learn how to lead as a queen.

I've been doing a personal writing project for fun with my partner and I've had fun really exploring Princess Aurora, or as I have her called, Briar Rose. She did grow up with that name all her life, so I see her being more accustomed to it, as well as being confident, not caring what people think of her, straightforward, graceful, loving, more comfortable as a peasant than as a princess, and quirky as a result of being raised in the woods by three fairies. People see her as "bland," but I disagree. Just from rewatching Sleeping Beauty I saw so much potential in fleshing out her personality just from what I saw of her and thinking about the life she led.

Honestly Aurora is my favorite Disney princess and Sleeping beauty is my favorite Disney film. The only problem I really have with the original is that I wished she had more screen time. And this would've been a great idea but it's so poorly executed.

Aurora is also my favourite princess and Sleeping Beauty is my favourite animated film. :) With that said, the reason why Aurora has very little screen time is because Marc Davis supervised her animation all alone. The standard for the film was very high and Aurora was extremely difficult to animate (especially her hair and skirt). Marc Davis was not only animating her but also Maleficent so it’s understandable why those two don’t have much screen time. There was a version of the film where Aurora had a bigger role. In that version, she escaped the palace during the day to go to a festival but the story eventually changed. However, the idea was later reused for Jasmine when she escapes the palace. Another reason why, we don’t see too much of Aurora is because the film was becoming way too expensive and so many ideas were scrapped.

Whatever you may think , the animation and voices are not good compared to the original. It's all about money and making cheap stuff for kids

Yo for the past months and months I was trying to find Sleeping Beauty sequel and thought I was going insane since nobody knew what I was thinking about and now Ive found it! It deffinetly wasnt great. But Aurora was and still is very underrated so im glad we got more of her! But no one can beat Mary Costas voice!

There's a book in the Disney Twisted Tales series that shines a really interesting light on Aurora. It shows how she feels torn between her two identities, and that she's absolutely terrified of becoming royalty after living a peasant life. Once Upon a Dream is the name of the book. I recommend it for anyone who loves Aurora.

I revisited the Disney Twisted Tales books, and found out there was more than I thought, they even started to do Pixar movies now, things would get darker. That's what we appreciate the originals for

In the original aurora isn't even human imo. She is a goddess. A symbol for femininity, much like cinderella and snow white (which everyone recently started hating on because they aren't "manly" enough for modern viewers) In this version, she is a ditzy girl from a 2000s rom com. I think the animation is the most disgraceful thing about this.

Never knew about Enchanted Tales before this but I think it'd have been more interesting if they'd taken the Cinderella II route and shown Aurora trying to adapt to her new life and identity. Like trying to bond with her newly found parents, keeping her independence as the King and Queen hover in fear something else happens to their daughter, maybe even throw in a visiting foreign dignitary/princess who makes her feel insecure as a princess and causes conflict between her and Philip. Basically, the events that happen in between her waking up in the tower and her happily ever after marriage

@@kbraven7007 Didn't watch Tangled the series but given how both princesses were raised away from their parents, you rly expect the king and queen not to be overprotective to the point of smothering? Aurora and Rapunzel have different personalities and supporting casts so the difference is in the details and execution. Aurora's marriage to Philip is also the union of two kingdoms so they could show the problems in transitioning to that, maybe have a 3rd kingdom try to sabotage that union to seize one of those kingdoms for their own benefit. There's so many interesting storylines they could've gone with for Aurora. Just coz some elements are the same doesn't mean everything about the story is.

Even Aurora from OUAT was doing things properly. It felt like she was just some salty whiner who was pissed Phillip was on a quest with Mulan to save her during the curse. It turns out she had courage she could show when she needed it. She stood up to The Queen of Hearts,Tried to help Snow White and Prince Charming rebuild the kingdom when they were up against The Wicked Witch,Ect. When she's not doing all that she's graceful and kind. The only time I was like "Girl what?" was when she was gonna tell Zelena/The wicked witch about the return of the kingdom.

Ok. But can we all agree that “Keys to the kingdom.” kinda slaps?

As a someone who has never watched this, it's safe to say that they changed Aurora's personality and demeanor so drastically. Aurora's main traits are angelic, melodic and elegant. She was such a feminine icon in the original movie

She was a 16 year old peasant girl who had nothing and then suddenly had everything. It makes perfect sense she'd go a little wild at first. None of this was bad in my opinion. Like wow she was excited to get to make decisions and play dress up and have food she liked, big deal. There's nothing wrong with any of that.

I was today's years old when I found out there was a sequel. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nah, this made Aurora my fav Disney princess now.

i get what people are saying about her character changing. she DID start out as a humble peasant girl. i’m not a fan of this rendition of her. but tbh she was 16 years old when she got married to Philip, who was 20. the change in lifestyle could definitely go to a teenagers head easily. she’s still a kid.

Why is everyone calling her spoilt? This wasn’t even that bad. Aurora was and is my fav princess she’s already not ever acknowledged, can we not bring her down?

I didn’t mind this when I was little, and I’m glad we get to see more of Aurora, but looking back, she was kinda full of herself in this, and the animation is not very good at all. She’s was graceful, but now it’s just gone.

I think the only part I liked about this, and actually remembered when I was younger, was the magic wand dress up scene at 1:01. Because honestly, the thought of having my own magic wand, and trying on multiple ballgowns excited the hell out of me as a kid XD

Ok, but like, I LOVED the dress up mirror scene as a kid. I think I had a toy magic wand around that time, and would try several times to transform my pj's into a golden ballgown XD

I'm not even a minute in and I hate how expressive she is. It feels like a completely different person. Nothing wrong with a graceful quiet peaceful princess. Wish they kept that. edit: NO ACTUAL WAY. I WATCHED THIS AS A KID. That song gave me a whiplash of memories

Omg yessss exactly!! I love how calm and graceful Aurora is in the original. Not all princesses have to be outgoing and loud, I loved Aurora being a dreamer and hopeless romantic

In the og she had no personality honestly. The story was driven by the fairies, the prince, and Maleficent. She was just there to look pretty and be saved

2007 was not a good movie year. We got THIS and Shrek the third.

I actually loved this Aurora as a child, she was funny and now I realize that she is only sixteen and having a power like that for the first tome

They finally give Aurora more lines than her original movie, and she just spits out cringe on main. Very progressive.

At least they tried to flesh Aurora out more.

She looks beautiful even when she's a mess

I mean she is my favourite princess of all when I was a kid and still is. And she's actually the most, well normal princess. Not only known for being kind and caring, she knows her position as a princess (or well, the key to the castle) and please don't call it a disgrace. No princess is all happy go lucky and oh I'm so nice and pErFeCt and I NeVeR make mistaaakes and oh I am just a normal girl and never mess things up like tHiS dIsGrAcE BlOnDiE WiTh a PiNk dress known as AuRoRaAaA (if that the case call everyone behind the scenes of enchanted tales a disgrace✨😙) Bish please. And no she's kinder than Amber FOR LORD she says PLEASE to stuff like man- she just knows her worth and isn't like- y'know perfect and stuff- Please don't take any of this as an offence-

If she is your favourite princess as she is one of mine then you should consider this sequel a disgrace and insult to Marc Davis who brilliantly animated and designed Aurora. He made her move and behave like a real queen unlike this product which has her acting like a spoiled brainless Valley girl. Even Mary Costa (the original voice of Briar Rose) made it clear that she hates it. On top of it, the sales for this were disastrous so there’s not much to save from it. I wish they had released A Kingdom Of Kindness instead as Aurora seemed a bit more like herself in that one.

@@RedaDoodles I agree with you on this one. I was kinda pissed at this too. But I think that instead of saying Aurora is a disgrace. Say that the sequel is a disgrace cause it kinda is. She just made one of our old but favourite princesses a dumb butt. But yea one of my younger friends were throwing a fit cause she for some reason insanely loves Aurora (idk why tho) but yeah it really was wrong and unfair of them I just hope they put them down soon cause many people love Aurora (she's my first princess and I honestly, honestly thought she was cute-)

I don't know what Audrey was thinking she will never compare to her mother

Aurora's voice in the 1959 movie of Sleeping Beauty was like an angel! :D Enchanted Tales' voice is just CRAP!!! :(

In my opinion, Enchanted tales was awesome. At least we got more of Aurora! 🙄

Indeed, she was also caring when she show concern to that fussbudget majordomo Lord Duke, when he gets into mishaps like Cogsworth (a majordomo/mantel clock) from Beauty and the Beast. Also, Lord Duke is also the comic relief of the film and shares resemblance to Grand Duke from Cinderella, Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast, and Clopin from Hunchback of Notre Dame, which all four are set in France. If you don’t know who Duke is, he’s a minor character in Sleeping Beauty and a major character in Disney Princess Enchanted Tales Follow Your Dreams. He is both the royal herald and majordomo under King Stefan’s Kingdom. Duke was (allegedly) voiced by the late Hans Conried in the original animated Sleeping Beauty and by Jeff Bennett in his real appearance for the first segment Disney Princess Enchanted Tales Follow Your Dreams. Here’s the line Duke said in the original film, “Their most honored and exhaulted excellencies-the Three Good Fairies! Mistress Flora, Mistress Fauna, and Mistress Merryweather!”

Hey more character for her, and I think it makes sense since she never was able to be a princess for her whole life until her 16th birthday

honestly she only got 15 minutes of screen time in the original movie so It's kinda cool to be able to see more of her! Im going to watch this later.

Look, I like the idea of Aurora struggling with her position as a Princess, since she grew up as a peasant girl far away from her kingdom with no knowledge of herself being royalty. But oh my goodness, she feels too rude and obnoxious to be the same character.

Original had the best opera voice, and was devistated after given a princess crown, because she thought she would not be allowed to marry her true love. The sudden change of lifestyle should be more intimidating than this.

this video should be called Aurora being ICONIC 💅 and not double sided like other princesses 🙃

If i say original aurora was so delicate and flawless she could do anything in the right place plus she is not spoiled and greedy she as a normal cottage girl had everything she need she was so happy in the woods

This is why Aurora was Regina George in the Mean Girls parody

See, the thing about Aurora is that she's so effortlessly elegant. Turning her into the "lol, so quirky and relatable!" type just doesn't fit her character. One could argue that she doesn't have much of a character in the original story, and that is relatively true. She's more or less the McGuffin of the story while the fairies and Prince Phillip are the more important characters. But that's kind of the point. She doesn't need much. And frankly, although I don't mind quirky characters or adventurous heroines, sometimes I get tired of it and I just want someone who is pretty and elegant, gosh dang it!

It's no wonder they never continued the "Enchanted Tales" series. I remember seeing a trailer for another one but it never got made.

To be fair, she doesn’t exactly know what normal is. She was raised by three fairies in the woods after being cursed by a tall evil one with no other human contact than a man she met when she was 16 and than suddenly she’s a princess-BUT she sleeps for 100 years then the same man who was the first human she’s seen in 116 years kisses her so she’ll wake up and it WORKS. One thing leads to another and now they’re married.

Don't know man. I would expect a person who would act this way when given a chance to have a magic wand.

Here's some food for thought: If Aurora was living in France during the EU era, she'd be breaking EU law. Because the cheese they're making cannot legally be called Roquefort cheese if it's not made in the area of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon in Occitania. The cheese has what's called a Protected Designation of Origin or PDO, a designation created in 1992 with the purpose of promoting and preserving the production, process, and development of products from specific regions. Champagne has this same designation, Champagne cannot be called Champagne if it's not made in the Champagne region of the northeastern part of the country. But outside the EU, the law does not apply and people who want to make cheeses like Parmesan can legally do so despite it being protected in Italy and the EU.

If the characters could have foreseen this, everyone including Aurora would have sided with Maleficent.

Aurora is one of my favorite princesses, I don’t think she’s a disgrace. I mean, can you really blame her? This is the first time that she takes the responsibility as a princess and it’s obviously she doesn’t know about Royal duties or traditions because she grew up as commoner girl who lives in a forest, and she doesn’t know how to communicate with people since she lives alone with three fairies who watches over her.

I remember watching that god awful song and thinking WOW this song is beautiful. Clearly, this was before I understood what music was. Seriously Aurora has never been capitalized on for her CLASSICAL SOPRANO. I'm so mad.

ma aurora needs more attention they did her dirty here like man she is this beautiful girl who has a gorgeous voice who fell in love in a dream poor aurora she needs justice man and i mean also i hate the voice actor of this and she needs to be spoiled more

I know I wanted more screen time for Aurora since she didn't get that much in the OG movie but not like this now I see why the actor for her never wanted a Sleeping Beauty sequel

Tbh as a kid i wouldn't have noticed or even cared about the difference between the original and the sequel. I don't see any problem as long as you as a kid are enjoying the film as you did the original one
