I have always adored Diana (as did most of the world) but that scene where Anne is upset about how she was just as charitable and hardworking as Diana but never got the praise that Di was given actually makes me feel somewhat guilty. Until now, Princess Anne has been fairly well-received but never greatly praised. At least now people know more about her achievements as a modern royal, olympian and humanitarian.

yeah I go to a summer school hosted at the boarding school that Princess Anne attended when she went to school and she is completely loyal to it. She visits regularly to do talks and came to open their new science building, it's all over the displays at the school

@@anso5961 There was a man with a gun and he shot her police guard (his gun jammed), her chauffeur (who tried to disarm him afterwards) a journalist (who was nearby and had tried to intervene after the other two were shot), and then approached Anne in the car. He told her he was kidnapping her and would ransom her for 3 million, and tried to order her out of the car. She said "Not bloody likely!" and managed to climb out through the other side. A passerby (who happened to be a former boxer) punched the man and helped get Anne away. Another policeman was then shot, but he'd already called for backup and another lone officer (without a gun) managed to apprehend him. All of the people shot survived and recovered and they were all awarded medals by the Queen for bravery. The man who punched the kidnapper also had his entire mortgage paid off by the Queen as thanks. Princess Anne gave an interview about it on Parkinson in the 80s, I think you can find it on KZread!

I understood Princess Anne’s jealousy towards Diana. They did the same things, but the media always focused on Diana because of her beauty and kindness. I think she was even a bit jealous of her father’s relationship with Diana, but she shouldn’t have been since Anne was his favorite. (Parents really shouldn’t play favorites, though.) Anne was the most like her father: sarcastic, witty, athletic and grounded.

I'll bet Princess Anne could have been a whole lot more popular in the media, she was an accomplished equestrian & beautiful when she smiled and lets face it, we all look better with Make Up. But, that's just not who she was. When she was younger she didn't care about the media because they were all over her. I'm sure, later in life, when they abandoned her and focused on Diana, Anne may have missed it. Happens to all of us. We often don't know what we really what until we lose it! That's just natural!

Something tells me that if Anne were a 5 year old of today and asked how her day at kindergarten was she's replied stone-faced with the following dialogue: "Not a particularly stunning day. Rather ordinary, I'd say. Reading lessons at 10, cartoons at 11. A brief nap, juice boxes at 2, monkey bars and swings at 3, a sing-a-long at 4. I could print up the schedule in a PowerPoint presentation if you'd like, but right now I'd like to wrap this up. I'm late for an appointment."

Glad this sketch got so many likes. I saw the scene where Princess Margaret makes up off-color limericks, something that shocks her majesty when she hears about it. I can imagine the queen explaining the inappropriateness of Margaret's behavior when the two of them are alone. The Queen: I hear you had a wonderful time at the dinner last night with the President and his wife. And that limericks were the highlight of the evening. Margaret: I did indeed. I completely lost interest in the the show after the 2nd season. TOO MANY LIES presented as truths! It got boring! It's a shame! The family is interesting enough to not need their history twisted, inflated or invented. *TOO BAD THE WRITERS ARE NOT BRAVER!* IMHO, the they're either too lazy or unable to create anything interesting without relying on the Royals as a crutch! Too bad!

Yess she's so savvy

When you realize that Princess Anne had to be the epitome of a princess, she had to like all the things a princess should. As the only daughter of the sovereign she had to be perfect. When she was complaining about Diana, you could feel the jealousy of a woman who wanted to feel like that, to be approached and told she was beautiful even if she wasn’t a princess. I think had Anne understood that her and Diana where similar she wouldn’t complain so much. In fact Anne like Diana but in the life of royalty, everything is a competition.

@@CrazyWatcher670 and been boring - no offence - her wedding was the most ordinary of the royals and most of her work though good and important - was / is ordinary good old work - The Crown is a drama so going to meetings - cutting ribbons - planting trees - shacking hands - meeting people just isn’t dramatic - how do you show the impact of all her work in a couple minutes segments - it is like most of our lives ordinary so not included in a television drama likeThe Crown which has to keep its viewers entertained 🤔

Oh my goodness Erin Doherty was absolutely brilliant in her role as Princess Anne. I always got excited every time she appeared in a scene. And that shows us what a talented actor Erin Doherty is. May she receive more attention and recognition in her career in the future.

At those times, a son always takes precedence over all his sisters so even if Anne was born first, her chances would’ve been by younger brothers that might follow. So really, her only chances to be Queen are being the only child (very unlikely) or the eldest of daughters

Well done, this video is terrific. It gives you much more of what Anne’s character arch could have been. Especially her feelings over Diana (can you blame her?). She was tragically underused in the series. Not even a mention of the kidnapping attempt! The man literally grabbed her arm whilst pointing a gun in her face and she still told him where to go. It feels like she was the first feminist in the family before the term even existed. I somehow doubt that the real Princess Royal would consider herself a feminist. She simply got on with her duties whilst carving out her own life since she knew she wasn’t going to inherit the throne. Major respect and admiration for Princess Anne.

To be honest. The crown did imply that the Queen did not want Charles to be king. There are two possibilities: one the Queen outliving Charles but she may not live as king now that Phillip has passed away. Or she will just give the crown to William.

Actually, she was wife of the future king and there was this drama, that's why she was famous. No one cares about the rest of the family.

Most underrated character of season 3 and 4. Wish she had her own show. She is far too interesting to be only a supporting character.

Anne has her father's personality and appetite for work and hatred for protocol. She gets the power to bully Charles and be like " I'm the only girl and I'm Papa's favourite so bow before me."

Imagine going from Princess to ordinary citizen in one generation??? Now that's a story to tell and she keeps it close to her heart.

if there is any other actor in (seasons 3 and 4 of) The Crown that deserves to be recognized by television academies other than Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham Carter, Josh O'Connor, Emma Corrin and Gillian Anderson, it's Erin Doherty. The Crown has if not the greatest, one of the greatest performances of an ensemble in television in the last five years.

If I were to be a royal, I would try to be like Anne. Hardest working royal of them all.

Because Diana is gone, we value Anne more. Ironies of life.

afraid you’re right 🥴 lived them wore them wished we could forget them 😳if we have to see them - at least a good costume designer makes them authentic and not cartoonish - Anne came under press scrutiny the seventies while Diana did so in the eighties - now there’s an interesting comparison for someone to take on 🤔

people admired Diana because she was an unknown young lady. Anne, on the other hand, had lived her whole life in the limelight, but Diana was more fascinating even though the grass isn't greener on the other side of the fence

I wondered why they never showed her almost being abducted, she was so tough and courageous during that whole ordeal ❤️

She was jealous because she worked hard for the crown, but her sisters-in-law always won her popularity. Furthermore, she knew perfectly well that her brother had another relationship...now the media recognizes her real "job", that is, helping to maintain privileges...but she was always an accomplice of her brother and the now queen, we must not forget the whole story. The media is getting closer to current power. If Diana lived it would be a different story.

She doesn't look that much like princess anne... but she looks a lot like anne boleyn. and princess anne was indeed hautie. She didn't shake hands where Diana hugged cancer patient. Yes she attended many charitable events, bcs it was her duty. Since age 18 she started doing it, it's her job tbh. But princess Diana not only did her job but also wanted to be the queen of people's heart, she cared for others thats why she won everyone's heart, she was polite yet so elegant and was confident too. She was another royal rebel but unlike princess anne she wasn't edgy and rough. Princess anne will always be better than Charles, tbh the crown would have been in good hand if it was meant for her, but there's no comparison btwn her and princess Diana.
