@@LibbyRal I recently read the book "The Palace Papers", I'm about 3/4 of the way through it, and I learned quite a bit about the lives of its most prominent players. And the one thing that I realize is that their lives are seldom their own. So yes, this must be a relief for Charles, but I don't think he really saw his life as a "sham". The decisions he made prior was simply his way of showing his devotion to the family, and I don't know if you can really "regret" a decision made based on service.

When you have kids you want the best for them and you would hope they will be supportive or appreciative of the opportunities you gave them and they will recognise the efforts made to make them adults. Harry should’ve stayed with his family in the US. His appearance grinning and saluting people was moronic and out of context. Nothing noting when writing the history of the nation who gave you so very much.

@@LibbyRal I think you don’t get it. That’s just simple math. There is no respect to someone who trashes you. Especially when that person is flesh from your flesh. It’s ok if you choose love and leave the royal duties, and move on and find a meaning in your future. But when you realise you’re not talented and the only way to make your money is to betray the hand that fed you, it’s simple to say you’re living in a narrow mindset.

I think receiving that kiss meant more to him than receiving all those royal articles. His son was like, "Daddy, you got this!"

The reason his Grandmother Queen Elizabeth became Queen at such a young age is because her Uncle King Edward VIII decided to abdicate the throne for the love of his life, Wallis Simpson. The next in line was Elizabeth's father King George VI, when he died, it went to Elizabeth. Had Edward NOT abdicated and instead took another woman for his wife and had children, Charles would not be King today. TBH, if Edward had not abdicated after pressure from Parliament, they planned to remove him anyway and possibly do away with the Monarchy all together because Edward had been making side deals with the Nazis during WWII to allow them to take over the UK

For me, this was the most wonderful, most poignant moment of the ceremony. The love between father and son was palpable and it bought tears to my eyes. William is a wonderful man, loyal to his family and to his birthright and an absolute credit to his father and to our beloved Monarchy. The look our King gave his son said it all. I haven't caught up on the day's events but watched the coronation ceremony from the crowning onwards. This part had me in tears, I felt immensely nostalgic and homesick (have been in Italy since 90). That brief exchange of glances spoke volumes.

Charles whispering ‘thank you William’ was very moving and you could see the King was deeply affected by that vow and kiss.

So sweet! Love the bond between Prince William and King Charles 🥰

For me during this beautiful sacred ceremony Prince William's pledge of allegiance and tender kiss on the King's cheek was the most poignant moment. I welled up with emotion 👑

God bless William for being such a good and strong son.

He looks so please and contented..I think that is all King Charles wanted his children to support him and to continue the family and country tradition of the Monarchy.

Such a beautiful moment between King Charles and the Prince of Wales! You could see the love in Charles' eyes that he has for his son! It seems from a lot of the comments, people don't understand this part of the coronation is tradition. The Senior peer in attendance, gives this oath while holding the hand of the sovereign, then they stand, touch the crown and place s kiss on the left side of their cheek. The Duke of Edinburgh did this for Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Edward did it at the coronation of his Father King George V, and so on. King Charles chose a slimmed down coronation because after Prince William gave his oath, then tradition was all the Dukes would come forth, say their pledge, stand and touch the crown then kiss the ring. I'm betting he chose not to do this part because Harry is the Duke of Sussex. He would've been allowed to wear Duke regalia with a crown himself to show his status. The less camera time Harry gets, the better. Let him sit 3-4 rows back away from the family and away from publicly having contact with the King for a photo op.

It's also highly likely that he was aware that the royal dukes are very elderly - consider the Duke of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent, 78 and 87 respectively - who by rights ought to be behind the new Duke of Edinburgh. It also avoids putting the Duke of York relatively front-and-center. All around it shortens the ceremony and keeps a few 'scandalous' men or elderly men from an uncomfortable situation.

That’s good that my distant cousin William got to give his dad a kiss I’d hug my dad and kiss him when I was younger I stopped when I got older.
