Their marriage was an example of real “team work”. At the end, that’s what a successful marriage is! It’s us against the world. I really respect the partnership of Queen Elizabeth & Prince Phillip. She must miss him terribly.

Queen Elizabeth took notes from Queen Mary, who was in love with Prince Albert, who died, so she had to marry his brother. Both didn't love each other then but eventually blossomed due to team work. She hoped Charles and Diana would do the same but to no avail.

0:27 Prince Philip: "I'm sorry that I wasn't there to protect you. I'm feel terrible. Queen Elizabeth: "But you're there by my side all the time and do much more than keep me safe!" [Philip sighs]"but thank you!" That dialogue killed me. I thought it was cute the way he worried and felt guilty for not helping her in such a tense moment and soon after she comforts him with that answer! 😍 I definitely love this couple!

It was not only that but what is father in law drilled into him about his role. Not only was Philip there to protect Elizabeth physically, but emotionally, putting fired out all over the place within the family. That was his role as consort and Tobias portrayed it as Philip may have felt he failed in that duty. If Prince Philip did say that about New Zealand, then i am a proud New Zealander because he and the Queen visited first.

Not really a great comparison. Unlike Eleanor, Elizabeth was not locked up by her husband up for 16 years. That would have really been a desolation. It is never a good idea to use movies or television series as historical sources.

@@robynmurray7421 I wasn't in any way comparing what Eleanor went through with what Elizabeth is going through as they are obviously different things. I simply meant that the Queen is likely feeling desolation at the loss of her beloved husband. I never use movies or TV series as historical sources but go for documentaries and books. I found a fascinating documentary about Eleanor here on KZread and was mesmerized to find out just how much she suffered and survived. Talk about a true badass lol! Comparing monarchical families and dynasties since the start of recorded history, I think it bears keeping in mind that this family-just before and throughout Elizabeth II’s reign-has proved on the whole to be exemplary and even extraordinary, given their figurehead status and very serious dedication to duty and constant work across decades upholding support for their nation and commonwealth. Yes, there have been human faults and failings (magnified by a voracious media) but look at the so-called “best” families across the globe-or any regular family. Under Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, a large human *family* managed to live under the weird auspices of both privilege and pressure-cooker … and fulfill astonishing works of national and international duty and responsibility. All of the members managed that. What other royal clan or monarchical family-unit-even with hiccups and human failings-managed to hold such constant and consistent high standards of duty and dedication to their people without heads being cut off or absolute incidents of abject depravity and mass-murder of their own subjects? This family, though imperfect like all families, somehow managed to keep an exemplary light shining, empowered by a serious sense of duty towards their people, for an astonishingly long time. Despite odd complications and pressures that both come with privilege and also make privilege a prison. Andrew is allegedly a jealous playboy who hobnobbed with a wide swath of international pigs enjoying Epstein’s “Lolita Island,” but he’s no different than other accomplished figures (American and otherwise) who logged hours on The Jet. And so many millions of families across the globe, of all statuses, have an “Andrew.” Despite his seemingly trashy predilections, Andrew still had his royal work and duties to perform. He performed them. Charles and Diana were simply star-crossed. Both understood what they were getting into, but neither was prepared for the actuality. They both made crappy choices and threw caution to the wind-Diana more than anyone, by taking-up with a creature of Dodi Fayed’s horrific repute, even at the time of his death and her death. Most people don’t realize that he had already cut a trail of ruin, destruction, and depravity throughout America (Hollywood in particular) before he hooked up with her. He was bad news and that particular upper-crust “set” knew all about it. He was banished from Los Angeles in a tempest of scandal and perversion. Diana knew it. Security still attached to her wellbeing knew it. She chose to make things worse, in a public way, by hooking up with him and attracting the press … “No, don’t … Yes, DO! No, don’t … yes, DO!” Her death was horrifying, needless and tragic, like a lot of deaths, but she should have had better sense, at her age. Period. That wasn’t going to end well, no matter where or how it ended. People need to be reminded that this royal family has held its shit together a LOT more admirably and worthily-comparatively speaking-than almost any monarchy or dynasty in history, much less modern times. Jeebers, look at the freakin’ Grimaldis.

Why do they sleep in separate beds
@iangraham6887
Жыл бұрын
It’s an old fashioned tradition based out of comfort and practicality. Especially in the upper class and in people of power, husband and wife often slept in separate rooms in case one got sick, there was less chance of catching their illness or being in the way of their treatment. Also, it was a comfort aspect as well, having a bed to yourself was seen as a way to get better sleeps without another tossing and turning in bed beside you. Especially if your whole life is on display for the people, you don’t want one having bags under their eyes and exhausted touring around. Being tired when in diplomacy with another country’s higher ups could be seen as rude and uninterested. This doesn’t mean that they were forbidden from sleeping in the same bed, on cold nights or times of love for example, they would sleep in one bed. It’s more there for the choice of sleeping alone or together. Really depended on their agreed sleeping arrangements.

No. These comments miss the point. No. Philip was not a great husband, no, he wasn’t a great person, no, he wasn’t great at all. He was all the opposite. He put her down, he wanted affirmation when there was no reason for it, he wanted to be as much center of attention as Charles. The only difference is that Philip knew deep down that near the queen he would’ve never been in the center, Charles, instead, though he had to be, thought it was a given thing to be the most important, and when proven wrong he reacted just like his father. They are no difference Charles and Philip, people looked at Philip like he was great but he was just as bad. The big difference between them was the woman they married. Philip married a woman who cared more about her country than her self and her husband, she understood the marriage was more a matter of appearance than love, she understood she had to make it happen and she did, overlooking all the hurt her husband put her through and when they were finally old and he finally settled and finally gave up what he kept pulling, then they figured out how to be friends again. Diana wanted love, wanted a good life, she didn’t want to be queen, she wanted to be happy, she loved people but she loved herself. She wasn’t going to ignore Camila like the queen ignored the ballerina, she got mad, she fought for herself, she fought for a husband, she fought for the only little things she had. If the queen wasn’t the queen, if she didn’t have the country on herself, she probably wouldn’t have put up with the bullshit like she did. At the end of the day, like father like son. A couple grew old enough to become friends, the other didn’t.
@lauraschoenborn3544
2 жыл бұрын
Where did you read that. Because I’ve read documentaries and royal biographies that tell a different story. They got married, Phillip gave up his title to be with Elizabeth. That in and of Itself shows that he truly loved him. He stayed in the Royal Navy thinking that they would have more time before Elizabeth became Queen. His entire like was turned upside down when King George died. He was tough, and very masculine, but his masculinity was overshadowed when he became second best to the Queen. Your comment shows that you do not really understand Phillip at all. He understood his place which was to support the Queen but not overshadow her. Unlike Diana who yes, wanted love but her mental health made it so she needed to be at the center of attention. She even tried to overshadow the Queen. She never understood that her role was to support the monarchy.
@cheyennetremolada7433
2 жыл бұрын
@@lauraschoenborn3544 starting with the fact that people’s roles are to be people and human. Being “masculine and tough” is not a good trait, it’s the definition of toxic masculinity, and wow, really, WOW, he gave up his title to marry a queen? How noble of him. He didn’t understand his place to support the queen, he understood that in his later years, but since the beginning he wanted his own life and to live it as far away from monarchy and his wife, he later on understood the importance of supporting her instead of trying to run away because he felt overshadowed. With time Philip learned what his place was and he began to be a decent husband to his wife and a symbol of support for his queen, but it was something he had to learn and that took him getting old to figure out. Now let’s move to Diana because what you said is probably some of the most stupid things ever. Diana never tried to overshadow anyone, not even once. She didn’t have to. She had the reflectors on her exactly like the queens sister, the difference is that Margaret at the beginning really wanted that attention, she praised and looked for it, Diana didn’t. Diana literally just held kids and sick people and everyone loved it, she was genuinely nice to people, she didn’t put on a show, she didn’t do any great big stuff, she just lived her life as a normal person, which is something nobody in the royal family was ever willing to do. She overshadowed everyone because she was naturally kind. If the queen had done half of the things Diana did she would’ve had 3 times her fame. Everyone grows and learns and changes, the queen learned to be more open, Philip to be more supportive, Charles will never learn anything in his miserable life and Diana never had the opportunity to. But no, Philip wasn’t a great husband or person, he learned to be with time. And, if I might add, wow, criticizing a woman for something she did almost exactly identical as something a man did that you praised instead… wow, not called sexism at all

Queen Elizabeth took notes from Queen Mary, who was in love with Prince Albert, who died, so she had to marry his brother. Both didn't love each other then but eventually blossomed due to team work. She hoped Charles and Diana would do the same but to no avail.

@iangraham6887

@lauraschoenborn3544
@cheyennetremolada7433
