Prince Johannes Von Thurn & Taxis of Germany (1984) A&E Aristocrats

Produced by royal biographer, Robert Lacey, a long, forgotten anthology that was broadcast in early days of A&E. This episode is the only one from the series that I know of to be in existence & profiles Johannes, 11th Prince of Thurn and Taxis (5 June 1926 - 14 December 1990). He was a German businessman and head of the House of Thurn und Taxis from 1982 until his death. I apologize for the poor video quality, but is very interesting nevertheless.

Would love to set the episode on the Marquis de Ganay

Thank you for uploading this! Do you have any others in the series? I remember watching one on the Liechtensteins a few years ago, but it's been deleted

Unfortunately I do not. I really wish I did though; it’s a shame this series was never officially released on DVD.

@@goldcanyon340. Agreed - I hope the others will spring up somewhere. I was lucky to find a copy of the book this series was based on in a second hand shop

@@goldcanyon340. This was originally a BBC series. Though the BBC archive, London, is vague on details here, there may have been a circulated VHS tape of the series, which therefore would still exist. Given that A&E aired the series, then that indicates that the series was at one time available in the US also. Please keep searching in libraries and used bookstores for this version.

Even the Habsburg "Kaisers" are former vassals ("Kaiser" HRE = 'primus inter pares' and those 'pares' are vassals.....) of the original Imperial dynasty, *the Loth(a)ringen* (named after Lothar, eldest son of Louis the Pious and grandson of Charlemagne) who, being enlightened dignities, handed over their property directly UNDER God, to the Holy Roman Empire (under few but critical conditions....that is).
