Im a charge blade main and I'm struggling to figure out what's happening here. Is he using a guard point? I thought elemental Cb didn't do KO?

Damn. I always have PTSD when he paries the "wing spear" attack. I block it, but it doesn't stop hitting me with the second swipping attack.

Damn shields look useful. (I have never used a weapon that can block, only dual blades and swag axe)

It's specific to the charge blade. When you use specific moves, it will block at the start of the animation. Doing this is better than just blocking because it has a inner block skill in it, essentially it blocks better. Also doing it this way you damage the monster, and if you follow up with a super discharge you will deal more damage with your phials. The weapon relies on this. You charge your shield, charge the phials, and then you wait for a good opening to block this way ( aka guard points) and release all the phials.

So Koji is actually a pro player at the game and not that bad compared to the other videos... Slide note: im also pretty trash
