What grade or kind of silicon do you recommend, please?

It all looks easy on a new unit. I"m wondering how hard it is going to be to remove the 4 bolts on a bottom unit that has been used and used and used. Like peter lewis comments below my top cap seems welded on. Do you have a specific degreaser you recommend?

We have used different types of degreasers, you just have to be sure it is safe for aluminum. Simple Green is a brand we have used in the past!

how do you get an old cap off? Mine seems welded on... afraid to use too much force for fear of cracking the ceramic. Help please?

We understand! We would recommend using a degreaser!

I tried this, put new gasket on, three wraps. I could not get the top on, at all.

You might have to adjust the gasket to allow your damper top to fit as it can be different when replacing a gasket. We usually wrap the gasket around twice, but often have to adjust for the perfect fit.

Then remove some until it fits 😅
