Primitive Technology: Human Baby Biology (Primitive Reflexes)
Ғылым және технология
Human babies are born with in-built instincts. These are called primitive reflexes. Don't forget to turn subtitles on.
This is obviously a medical tribute to the amazing Primitive Technology channel: / @primitivetechnology9550

Turn the subtitles on! This is a tribute to the wonderful Primitive Technology channel, for those that are wondering why it's silent. Check out the sequel! kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6lnj8x6oKy5aJM.html

Not *just* experiments - after the experiments are finished they make a nice snack (although a tad fatty)... and there's almost enough skin to make a pair of gloves. 'Kid" gloves, if you will (lol). h/t Jonathan Swift's _A Modest Proposal For preventing the Children of Poor People From being a Burthen to Their Parents or Country, and For making them Beneficial to the Publick_ (1729).

Ain't that the reason everyone has a baby?
The worst thing about a channel like this is that you find it (through tom scott) and then you binge-watch everything on it in a day and then there isn't any more :( Really though, excellent videos.

Number of publications and your Google scholar score is irrelevant if you post a video of you doing basic experiments/observations on your baby. Every scientist/engineer will understand your level of dedication to the art

The baby's eyes are angelic. And I've never been relaxed like this while learning something.
Studied space medicine to make a KZread video, had a baby just to do experiments, I admire your commitment
Here via Tom Scott. I just finished watching _all_ of your videos (including the ads). Your videos are superb! I was laughing _and_ learning at the same time. 🤣 I loved the "Scrubs" intro, your stand-up routine was gold and your _Belter Creole_ was spot-on! But, the "Sherpa" video was my favorite. ❤ I subscribed, hit that 🔔 and am waiting for more! No pressure, though. I'd say _fiddling_ with people's hearts takes precedence over KZread. (Oh, I know you said you weren't monetized, but KZread played ads on several of your videos. I hope you'll be getting the proceeds. 💲)
When I saw the title, I thought "haha, what a coincidence, a accidental Primitive Technologies reference!". Oh, how wrong I was. You actually made the video in his style too. Amazing.
Brilliant video! My wife is about to have our third and I feel like I will savour those early months all the more for having watched this! Constructive crit if you're into it: I found the subtitles too fast! I'm sure its easy to underestimate someone's first-time read-speed when producing a video with words you've written yourself! Or I'm just dim as I scanned the top comments and nobody else seems to have mentioned it.
@MedlifeCrisis

No you're right they are faster than I'd have liked. I was doing a parody/tribute of another channel but he is very laconic in his subtitling and I had quite a lot to crowbar in! Thanks for the kind words!

You are not alone. I deliberately took a remedial reading course my senior year of high school. I was probably the only kid in that class taking physics and pre-calculus math... but I also had the slowest reading speed in that class. Fortunately, I had high reading comprehension

How do babies respond to being wrapped in loya cane or glazed with iron bacteria?

Thank you very much for swapping out the audio. Babies are much cuter without the stress attached to their cry. It’s also easier to pay attention to the educational material.
I'm so glad Tom Scott sent us here! The great learning content and great, constant humor are perfect! I've just recently found Tom Scott's videos the past few weeks, actually only today really going to his channel, but now that I'm following his channel, he that day sends us here and I get another great sub, 2 in one day!

Great video. Learned some things, I like the acoustic background as I am familiar with primitive technology channel and I really love how you actually put useful informatno in CC, not just "stupid" clickbait nonsense, like so many other channels out there.
Congratulations and thank you for the wonderful content!
Hey, congratulations, beautiful Baby! And a great channel, really appreciate your videos!
Tears... Beautiful.
I was imidetly hooked by your video on Toms channel. And I wish I saw your channel earlier.
I definitely want to see your child demonstrating the parachute reflex. Sounds exciting
This is the first time I've seen your original baby experiment vid. It was worth going back for. I'm subscribed so I'm not sure, but maybe the algorithm has brought us back for a bit of basic humanity in these terrible times.
your primitive little human is magnificent
such a cute concept and expertly executed. not going to lie I love your sly sense of humour and almost troll level of jokes (dead pan when endorsing a ridiculous comment) - you are a wonderful breath of fresh air to help those completely afraid of medical doctors (etc) to break down those barriers. keep on rocking in the free world, and do do do loo do
Such interesting videos! Looking forward to see more of them

Came for the Tom Scott worship, stayed for the baby! Why does this sort of video never come up in my suggested videos?
8k to 21k, Wish more people got shouted out to be able to see these amazing up and coming channels!
I enjoyed learning this for some reason so thank you
Would love a more in-depth video about all of the reflexes mentioned, and maybe some adult reflexes too (leave the gag reflex out). Also subbed thanks to Toms referral. That little alter worship payed off! Tiny feedback: the subtitles were a bit quick. Flip side: I’m watching again to make sure I can it all. Congrats.
Eyyy i just came from Tom Scots channel and its criminal how few views you have! Im watching all your videos now and damn they all so great and well produced Hope you can keep at it, if the videos are good and there are a lot of em eventually more will come right?!

Aw that's honestly adorable.
Adorable research subject.
Hey, came here from tom scott's video, watched some of your videos and loved them, every one of them is slightly different in style than the other. however I have a request, it would be nice if your video have some references to the topic for anyone how would like to read more, of course mentioning some items about the topic in the video is good, but not everything I read in the internet is true so it would be nice if you picked some about the topic and just put them in the description, anyway thanks for your video it's really good and interesting Subscribed and can't wait for your next video 👍
Hand coverings for babies inhibit one of the most important ways that they interact with the new world. Plus it also cuts their level of frustration concerning that world way down.
I'm more than a year late to comment, but thanks for this video. It's unique. I can show it to students in 1st year of medicine/nursing or also who enter pediatrics freshly... The baby's really cute. (Assuming he's more than 17 months old now)

Can you show us some of the "parachute reflexes" that you mentioned? that'd be nice ^^
That baby is so cute!
Can you do a video on Babinski reflex in newborns and adults?
The Moro reflex looks a lot like a Judo breakfall. the idea is to distribute the force of falling over the maximum possible area. Might it be possible that mitigating the damage from a fall meant this reflex was selected for?
@emilyscloset2648

it is actually for alerting adults and trying to grab on. The characteristic spreading of arms comes from an unsupported head (as demonstrated). Crying is also often present

Brilliant channel, very bingeworthy (and thankfully still small enough to get through quickly). One thing though, it is okay to use data as a singular. Really, either is fine in modern English.
Really beautiful video! Fascinating information too. I am an adult who retains Babinski's reflex. Yes, I have an Abby Normal brain ;)
