PRIMITIVE SKILLS; Duong continue to raise pigs - Build a pig barn out of stone
After the swine fever epidemic passed for a long time, I decided to raise pigs again. And today, I completed the construction of the pig barn. The pigpen is built with sturdy and safe stones. Currently my big worry is not knowing where to get the pigs from. And most of all, I don't know if I will be able to raise pigs successfully this time, and I don't know if swine fever or other epidemics will happen again or not. But I will try to prevent, prevent and take good care of them.
Have fun watching the video!

Duong - I've been following your channel for a few years. Incredible changes you have made - a lot of work. I need to see where you want to go - but (so far) your pigsty has a series of defects - I found it too small to breed and unsuitable for fattening. Pigs need a shaded area to rest, a water area (a small pool 15 to 20 cm deep and at least 2 m² in area) and a solarium area - they need to sunbathe and lie down (and defecate/urinate) in the water - in addition to root around inside - they calm down. You will have to build an external tank to receive the waste - which you can use in your agriculture. I'll stop here for now - but I admire your work

@@ladyofthemasque - thank you for the note - but independent of what size or race - pigs need minimum space, water to refresh themselves (pigs don't sweat), and correct feeding - protein questions that the leaves of banana trees do not supply. Short space - means excess stress No place to refres and root the ground - they became irritable Bad feeding - means bad heath (see the latest results he had) and bad quality of meat - bad price to sell... You imagine how I now these things? Yes - I breed them...and process them in hams, salames , bacons etc...my customers love it! My regards

Here’s to hoping you build a stone and cement reservoir at the back bottom of your pig pen to keep all the waste from when you clean the pen’s, that way you can use the waste for your gardening and specially to stop the waste from going down to the water and pollute. Good job on the pen.❤

By giving each pen a cement floor with a drain, it should be a lot easier to clean them, making it healthier for your pigs. That still cannot completely keep out diseases, of course, but it will also help prevent drafts in cold weather, and the cement will provide a cool surface during hot weather. Your pigs, once you get them, will be comfortable.

Hello Duong , our man from Vietnam!! Congratulations on heading towards getting pigs again n maybe a dog too .. May i suggest that you run water around pond from vegetable patch to pig pen . You already have the fall to supply good water. This way the large round holes could be used to flush all the pig manure , and also give you a chance to wash pigs as well. Hopefully this is a good idea, as always love to you and the family from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️

Do not buy more then two mother Pigs because you firdt must learn how mutch food you need for the pigs. A dog is good if it catch mouses and rats not if you must buy meet for the dog. A cog needs meat it is noit good to feed a dog with rice. if you collect the manure from your Pigs an mixed it with the manure from the chickens you has a good fertilizer for your vegetbles and the food for the pigs. 👍

The pig shed is, as always, beautiful =) But let me give you an advice. Youre making the same mistake like you did by the main house which fell down. You did not make braceing. You have to add struts (diagonaly), otherwise the wind will send your frame construction with the roof to the ground. Plus, i really dont know, why did you not use the walls for the roof constrution. You know these foundation is temporarily, till the pillars rots (in a years). Goodluck and all goods, mainly health to you and your family! from CZE :)

Duong, I looked up all the ways that pigs can get African swine fever. 1) biting insects like tics that have bitten infected animals 2) physical contact with infected animals 3) drinking contaminated water. Your pigs should be safe from 1 and 2, but to protect them from 3 you would need to make sure you ONLY give them water that you have boiled. The water you get from the river might contain African swine fever, but boiling the water will make it safe for the pigs. I mention this because when your pigs got sick before, it was when you changed how you made their food. When you were cooking it every day the water was always boiled. But when you started cooking larger amounts and then mixing it with cold water, the water had not been boiled, and that is when your pigs got the illness. I know it will be more work, but making sure you always boil their water to sterilise it, it will reduce the chances of them getting any sickness. Also, please try to collect the pig faeces and plough it into your garden. It is a good fertiliser. You can also use the pigs do help with work. If you want to make a new garden, make a fence and put the pigs inside. They will dig up and eat all the plants for you, so you do not need to. They will also plough and fertilise the soil.
