Adding ads that were not there before while not lowering price…screw this.

I will NEVER EVER pay to remove the ads they are forcing us to watch. Joke's on them.. I don't watch Prime. And now? they can shove it.

The Prime Video was supposed to be part of our Prime Membership along with free 2 day shipping. Not only did they raise the prime membership fee? They’re taking a lot away from us.

Ads suck. I cancelled Prime yesterday.

I quit Prime altogether. Ads on video was the last straw. I spent thousands of dollars at Amazon, but that will change. I'll start spreading my dollars at Walmart and other online shopping stores that deliver. Yeah, it may take longer to get things, but oh-well. It's Amazon's loss. I exclusively shopped there using Prime, but no more.

I rarely watch Prime Video these days, the only reason I maintain my Prime subscription really is because I shop with them so regularly

Amazon is honestly getting worse. Ive had numerous problems with shipping. Now im dealing with ads. Every streaming platform is doing this. Its ridiculous.

I primarily watched Prime Videos BECAUSE they were ad free. I canceled my Prime account as soon as Amazon sent out an email regarding the addition of ads. If I shop now at Amazon, which is less, I wait until I need enough stuff for free shipping. I think that all these increases fo more for greater revenue than to add content.

I haven't seen an ad yet, primarily because I can't find anything worth watching on Prime these days.

Then you aren't trying. Prime consistently has way better movies than Netflix. Even when it comes to recent releases.

Cancelled my prime subscription. Part of the good thing about the prime video subscription service was that it was competitively priced, binge watching, and no adverts. Prime you still had to pay for some things but they did some good own content. Their minimum spend for free postage also went up a few months ago too. Ads are a step too far 😩

When do the increases ever stop? They don’t once it’s implemented.

No more free rides? Amazon Prime is already a paid subscription and they have raised the prices over the past couple of years. I think it's time for me to re-evaluate my Prime membership in its entirety.

My attitude is, I know what I want and don't need an ad to entice me to buy something. In fact, I use ads to inform me of what to never buy. You want to interrupt my time then I will purposely never buy your product for wasting my time. Without ads, I could get through more episodes or watch an extra movie or two before I go to bed. My time is valuable to me and since I am not drawn to marketers trying to sell useless crap to me, I will purposely cancel any service trying to extort me for more money when I have already been loyal subscriber for a long time. Don't bite the hand that feeds you or you will starve.

The whole point of paying a subscription is to avoid ads. I won't be renewing when the current period runs out. Also, I noticed that the ads were short and infrequent at first but are now intrusive.

I agree. I pay for KZread Premium to not have ads. That is a bummer to hear the ads have become that bad.

KZread premium the only service I pay for, which I won't ever go back on. The others is a big no no

Just got my prime video ad charges notification here in the UK. Not paying them another penny. Also just had a notification from Ring . Starting 11 March 2024, the price of Ring Protect Basic will change from £34.99/year to £49.99/year per device. Last year's rise was £10. so a 100% increase in 2 years. Nope ring is cancelled now, these companies have no idea how ordinary working people are drowning in increased charging for everything. But I think they have pushed too hard this time, people will refuse to pay it.

Those should be fine. I think they would have an uproar if the took away peoples purchased movies. But you never know.

How about KZread Prime? Many movies on Amazon Prime have a comparable price on KZread Premium. Both services work fine for me, so I am wondering whether I should "punish" Amazon by just renting my movies on KZread.

I will try to use Promotional Credits if I can; usually when I get those I let them expire because they are only useful for media like buying movies or music. Hopefully that is now a possibility.

I grew up watching cable tv in the 90s, so these ads are just normal commercials to me.

I keep forgetting they've done this, put something on, get presented with an ad, and immediately find something to watch on a different service

The ads are literally for the shows on prime, it makes no sense. I get spoiled every time I watch an ad. I watched a 1 hour and 30 min movie, there was over 20 ads never will I use this service again. Back to the FireStick lol

Just cancelled. I’m not paying more for a degraded service. Greedy barstewards. I’d rather deprive them of £100 a year. Every year.

If you look at the Amazon accounting books, I bet they are making more money charging companies to provide ads than they are collecting from people turning off the ads but either way it's just a win win for Amazon.

I wonder how much more they make from advertisers. companies will just about sell their soul to collect our dollars so they must be paying quite a bit. Just a thought.

Not only did they introduce ads but they removed Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos. Can only get it with ad free tier now. Might as well just torrent all Amazon's stuff now.

The ads before a movie does not bother me (hate ads between movies like peacock). What pisses me off is they removed my Dolby Vision and Atmos. I called clueless customer service to find out why i no longer haventhe Doolby and they could not give me an answer. While on phone i asked Alexa how do i get dolby vision vision and atmos on Amazon Prime Video, and the response was to subscribe for the Ad free and pay $2.99. Does anyone know this that its 2.99 for ad free and to get back dolby? This should be a lawsuit for lying to us.

Most of these companies are adding ads in because they give a free trial and that way they can make revenue off the free trial most people will opt for the average service for a few extra dollars. But my question is do they raise the price where it's unaffordable to have the ads removed and people often out not to have their service at all.

I think it depends on the service. HBO is $5 more for ad free. But they also step on the quality of the video for their lowest two plans.

I was already paying Amazon 139 bucks a year for Prime. I refuse to pay an additional $2.99 per month NOT to be bombarded with advertisements, so I canceled Prime and every product subscription I had.

I’m doing the same. Absolutely ridiculous to shove these down our throats after paying $50 then $140 for years. I got so mad when an unskippable ad popped up and I had no idea they were doing this. Of course the ad was left wing sissy crap too.

Got a free 6 month Amazon Prime Student. The reason I hopped onto Prime Video and considered pausing Netflix. 3 bucks a month additional (to 0/month in my case) are not that much - but paying for sth that was included before? No way! Got a used Blue ray player for 10 bucks and the library, 2nd hand market, open book shelves have so much to offer. Going back 20y in time 😂

i now only get on prime to get to hbo max which i have subscription on ad free. i will not pay more to not watch ads on prime. i only keep prime to get the free shipping which I've had long before i started watching prime shows.

I am with you. Prime has been kind of weak for shows over the past few years. Compared to how they were when they started.

I dobt mind ads until they interup the show... As these companies get greedy ive walked away.... Disney has gone and if this gets worse amazon is next... I also thinking of getting my alexa due to its intrusive.

Honestly Amazon is some hot garbage other than the stuff I can buy. Prime video was already like 3-5 in streaming apps I use but even before the charge the content went way downhill.

Isn’t Jeff making enough without charging more for a poor selection of movies. Not happy just going to cancel 😡😡

Hi! Thanks for sharing. I recently reduced my Netflix subscription from $21 per month to $5 and what I thought was ad supported, because, like you I don’t have a big problem with ads. After all a lot of us grew up on ad supported tv. I realized that certain content was just not available at that subscription level. It is getting so expensive to stream, that I am thing about throwing in the towel and give up on all streaming and go with what ever free live tv I could find. They will all lose me as a customer!

The other day, my dad was like "remember when you paid for streaming BECAUSE it was ad free?" We pay for this sh*t to not have paying advertisements on our screens. We are now paying to watch things that are paying to be there. What the hey. I'm honestly down to unsubscribe to Amazon not only for this but because it's trash. The products sold there are sketchy and often sold from some Chinese kid's basement, and I can't tell you how many times I've received counterfeit products or used products. AND Amazon hikes up prices because it's a monopoly.

We have been with amazon prime for 10 years but this move has really tip the wagon. Today we cancelled our amazon prime, movies and music unlimited, we spent last year £8000 on shopping too which we will spend elsewhere. I chatted to customer service but they would not remove the £2.99 charge. Bye bye amazon and the three alexas we have in our home.

I called them up and said either they remove the ads for me or I reduce my spending on shopping with them. They refused so now they are getting a 10x reduction in revenue and I've stopped watching prime video too so they're not even making it back with ad revenue. I recommend everyone does the same, call them, tell them what you're gonna do and then cut spending. If enough people actually call and do it they'll drop ads.

i see it completely different. One is a service and one is a change that affects the use of the device. I bought echos before ads ever existed on Echo shows. They added them to my device and there is no way to turn it off. Streaming services are services I opted into. If I am not satisfied, I push a button and no longer use the service. I would be pissed at Apple If they started putting the same kind of ads on my Apple TV. I spent the extra money for Apple TV for an ad free experience that Fire TV sticks don’t have. That would be changing the hardware and ecosystem I bought into. Services I am flexible with. Thanks for watching.

All streaming that put ads on their platform. I have canceled every single one. Especially prime. The only one that did not create a cheaper ad supported tier. Just put ads to my prime account and tell me I must pay more for what I already had. Back to ff through cable and my dvd collection will begin to grow once again. Be well.....

I’m going to cancel my prime membership, first it started with I don’t get stuff delivered in two days sometimes even though it’s in stock at the warehouse from Amazon. Now they want me to pay extra for no ads I think not the way they’re raising us you might as well just go back to cable.

I give them enough money. They won’t get anymore from me and Alexa is mostly dead to me. I’m moving away before they make us pay for the plus or ultimate or max. Whatever they want to call it. This means I won’t watch their videos anymore. I can’t stand commercials.

Seem like you work from these companies, you never talked about the fact you already paid and signed up for prime with Ad free service now in the middle of your membership. They should have had it at renewals only not in the middle of a service that you paid a whole year for.

Prime video is the least valuable service you get with a prime account. If I want to watch a movie or tv series, I fire up the old dvd player. There isn't much out I want to watch that is exclusively on a streaming service. Craig, are you old enough to remember when cable first came out? It was billed as a pay service for specialized channels that you wouldn't have to watch advertisements since you paid for the service. That didn't last long.

I think I might wipe any and all streaming services out of my life and start buying physical media again. There's literally only a single one time paywall with those. I have 4-5 of the big ones and your right, collectively it's ok but separate it's kind of a scam.

Time to get rid of prime

to be honest im absolutely sick of it ! ads are every where today and I mean everywhere games, films, apps, TV streaming services web sites mobile phones and not only this ' video ads that cannot be shut down they are not even subtle anymore they take up literally the whole page its ridiculous!!!! I go to a web page and no word of a lie it takes me like 5 minutes to start shutting down all the ads before I even start to do anything productive "don't show this ad again" that's a joke 8 times I shut one ad down only today! it came back regardless dam 12 times! I just closed the web page and left.. they say ads help developers I wouldn't mind but today they take the ???? from full screen videos to pop ups that have no option to shut down its just greed where ads rule more and more land they get onger and longer each day !

They want an extra 2.98 just to remove ads , I pay for ad free content I will not pay there greedy hike in price, 33% extra a month and depending on who you are and how you pay the increase goes up to 76% extra absolute robbery . Stopped buying off prime as the quality of items is bad ,so this made me evaluate Amazon as a whole. Cancelled for the 2 shows I did watch it’s not worth it I pay for ad free if I want ads I’ll watch Tv . I rarely watch prime video, but they got Marry My Husband so I’m watching after a long time. I think what upsets me about this ad thing isn’t that part of the reason for streaming? No commercials? So when I see them for something I’m paying for it kind of makes me mad, especially when the streaming with ads used to be the free version.

The only thing I watch on Amazon prime is the Lord of the ring series and now that is in doubt because I’m not paying extra for it and I’m not planning on watching commercials. We have canceled Amazon. I’m not paying more for ad free and I’m not paying the same as I have been for ads. Also the content isn’t expensive. Maybe if they didn’t throw millions of dollars at directors or writers before they even made anything, they would have more money. I’m not paying for Amazon financial mistakes.

With all these services we are at the mercy of their ever changing terms, offerings and pricing. One service goes up other streaming services. We didn’t make their crappy media streaming model.

Easy one, if you don't want to to give Jeff more money then just boycott whom ever has there adverts on amazon prime video. Why waiting for the advert to be over go coller a bite to eat and a drink or something.

If u give me a choose then I'll pay more for a no ad trier service but to make me pay for something I had 6 months years just because fu@&#$@!

Bezos doesn't have enough money? I'm with you 100% on this! WAYYY too many streaming services with spread-out content. With Hulu plus Live, Netflix, Prime, Paramount+, Disney, Max, etc etc... Plus don't forget the music services like Amazon music, KZread Premium (ad-free music video service) and Spotify! I now know why I'm so BROKE! And yeah... I'm giving Bezos enough of my money. I'll watch the ads.

I was never really impressed with prime and lately ut seems they are bowing to the China Overlords well I guess they saw how well it worked for KZread... So my guess is if it dosen't sell (ad free) they will pump more ads in.

So you think you are not giving more to the streaming services by refusing to pay for ad free? Actually what you are doing is reinforcing the acceptance of ads and these streaming services are making bank! They will keep increasing monthly subscription fees while continuing to add more and more advertising…and then we have come full circle to why streaming services started to begin with. I personally am disgusted by all of this and I refuse to promote their bottom line through ads. I am leaving streaming services that require ads. It’s a slippery slope people.

Amazon now trying to gouge a few extra bucks from its Prime members. What’s free with these memberships anymore. Even music you’re paying to listen to your favourite songs. There’s nothing special in terms of shipping when you have a Amazon Prime membership. I’m getting tired of being screwed by these big corps. The ads is the cherry on the top for me. I’m cancelling my Prime Membership. Even Prime Days people are getting screwed. They increase prices prior to the sale and decrease them to what they are throughout the year making you think your getting a deal when in actuality your paying regular price 🤦‍♂️.

I’m not paying for ad free either. I don’t mind the ads if they add them at the right time. Extreme Rant! F*cking KZread!!! OMG! They use to have ads at the beginning and at the end of a video but NOW they add them almost every 5 minutes and NOW they add them during live streams!!! KZread is trying to force their viewers to pay for their ad free service and that pisses me off! If they just kept the ads in the beginning and end I wouldn’t have any issues with it but even if you fast forward a video it’ll show ads after you click play! I can sneeze and they’ll start playing ads!!! (I’m being ridiculous now) I do pay for ad free with Disney + Hulu (I have the bundle)
