Henry still had a little more to his game than Mbappe, playing in a much tougher era too with fouls being less strict from referees. Henry could score free kicks, left foot right foot, long range efforts, playmaking creativity and could carry his teams alone. I don’t think Mbappe has all that except maybe carrying his teams but we’ll see because he could develop it too. I’d compare him more to CR7 since he looks to be a pacey goal scoring machine

I’m a Utd fan so no dog in the fight. But Henry was doing it against the best defenders in world football, barely anyone compares to that level of defenders these days. International football was a lot harder in that era. Thierry Henry holds the record for one of the fastest top speeds ever recorded in a major league, clocking in at 39.2km/h in 1998. Mbappe top recorded speed is 38km/h. Henry won a World Cup and Euros and Champions league. Mbappe has only ever played in the farmers league, imagine the stats Henry would have if was able to put his feet up every other game. 😂 Mbappe could surpass him at Madrid for sure.

Henry didn't do much in any of those finals for France or the cups. His goals to games ratio in finals isn't that good. Meanwhile, Mbappe has an insane amount of goals in the WC and he's only 25. Mbappe will certainly peak in Real Madrid. Right now it's Henry, but once Mbappe retires, he'll probably surpass Henry.

He was Frances top scorer at that World Cup 98 and Euro 2000 where he was routinely awarded motm and he provided the assist for the semi final winning goal in the World Cup. He also got to another final in 2006 which again was lost on penalties. There career isn’t that different apart from the farming the farmers league for different amounts of time.

Mbappe is incredible but thierry was playing in an Era where there were many goats e.g. R9, Zidane, Ronaldinho and world class players were a dime a dozen.
